The Lady RiverHawks come into the 2015 season looking to improve and build on last seasons

late run to the championship game of the MIAA Softball Championship Tournament. The Lady

RiverHawks 29-30 record marked the most wins for the program since 2007. Head Coach Clay

Davis has been preparing the team for the season ahead.

Davis is in his third season at NSU, which he has compiled an overall head coaching record of

56-54, as the Lady RiverHawks head coach taking them to MIAA Quarterfinals in 2013 and

Finals in 2014.

Davis said he is excited moving forward after the 2014 campaign and wants to take the program

to the next level. With the current players the team has, the season could be very promising and

hopefully propelling the team to the NCAA Tournament.

New addition to the coaching staff is graduate assistant and pitching coach Lacey Middlebrooks,

who comes to program from The University of Buffalo where she was the pitching coach.

Middlebrooks graduated from the University of Tulsa in 2013 where she played softball for the

Golden Hurricanes.

Middlebrooks said she is happy to come back to Oklahoma and coach. She is excited about the

group of girls she has to work with this season and likes being on the same coaching staff as

someone as driven as Davis.

“When you have people that like to work hard, that makes the job easier,” said Middlebrooks.

Madison Boyd, Lady RiverHawk infielder, said after practicing, the team has made a lot of

progress for the upcoming season and has made strides as playing together as a team.

Boyd started 55 games for NSU last season, while earning a .285 batting average for the Lady

RiverHawks and was named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll as a freshman.

“I just think we play an exciting brand of softball,” said Davis.

Davis said he would love to have the student body at games, it has grown over the years and the

team’s aggressive style of play could really excite the crowds.

The Lady RiverHawks begin the 2015 season with the Texas A&M Commerce Tournament.

They will play against Tarleton State University at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 in Commerce, Texas.
