Physical description • The nohoanga is on an embankment overlooking Lake Hawea, next to the Lake Hawea

camping ground, which is extremely popular particularly during the summer months.

• The site is large, flat and well sheltered.

Vehicle access and parking • Vehicle access onto the nohoanga site is good although there is a slight climb onto the

site, which may prove difficult for large caravans or campervans.

• There is plenty of parking on site.

Facilities and services • The are no facilities on the Lake Hawea – Nohoanga 3 (Adj Camp Ground) nohoanga

site. Site users need to provide their own toilet (portaloo or chemical toilet) and shower facilities.

• Nohoanga site users are required to provide their own water supplies.

• A public toilet block is located next to the nohoanga site. Users are permitted to use these facilities. The block is often maintained and cleaned by the Lake Hawea Holiday Park, however the Park does not own this block and therefore isn’t responsible for it. Nohoanga users need to help keep the block clean and bring their own toilet paper.

• Nohoanga site users are permitted to use the adjacent Lake Hawea Holiday Park facilities with permission from the Camp Manager and payment of the standard fees ($6 casual fee per person per day – subject to change) for the use of the facilities. A dumping station is also available to empty caravan or campervan toilets at a cost. If you are using these facilities you will need to indicate this when applying for your nohoanga permit.

• Facilities at the adjacent camping ground are not available for nohoanga site users to use over the Christmas and New Year period. During this period, guests need to provide their own toilet / shower facilities and water.

• The camping ground has a shop and bike hire which are available to nohoanga users.

• Take extra care when disposing of grey water.

• A boat ramp is located adjacent to nohoanga site.

• There is limited cell phone reception on this site (Spark, no Vodafone).

• All rubbish and waste must be removed on departure. See key contacts below for details of refuse and dumping stations.
