IT IS ACTION AND

EXAMPLE

Leadership is a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others, towards the achievement of a goal."

1. Social influence

2. Dependence on others

3. No dependence on titles, personal characteristics or attributes

4. Includes a goal

6.Enjoyment

1. Having high social influence stemming from being authentic & empathetic

2. With the credibility to translate vision into reality

What Communication is NOT.. Stating a key message in written, spoken or graphic form and assuming

the same is understood

My favourite definition of Communication The process of using

messages to generate meaning

re-affirmed through feedback

Have Social Influence

Social influence: Your behaviour sends key messages about what is acceptable and

what is not You need to display your value system i.e. what your beliefs and

attitudes are reflected through your daily action You need to show you have the guts to stand up for what you

believe in Most critically you need to be authentic, transparent,

approachable, empathetic in order to earn trust & respect

AND

Create an Impactful social influence

would then generate followers…

So what is leadership & communication?

Leadership is creating social influence through: i. Credibility -- based in competency

ii. Engaging-- through being authentic

iii. Listening

iv. Being a role-model as you would want your role-model to be for you

Communication is the most powerful leadership tool

i. What you communicate, not only needs to be understood & accepted, but remembered

ii. Ensure you are being clear in all your communication, verbal and non-verbal.

At all times

Be:

Humble

Transparent

Approachable

And accept your failures in your stride

After all we’re not PERFECT….
