ABOUT US

“Learn English with apps”: the purpose of this project was to make students test and write

about apps that can help them improve their English language skills. The project aimed at taking

advantage of a powerful and engaging learning tool – the students’ smartphone. Considering

the huge amount of apps everywhere, the project wanted to make students test some of them

(chosen by the teachers) for some time and see if they were effective or not.

The final products of this project are 2 digital magazines, logos and some posters. Twinspace

and Google Docs were used by students and teachers, allowing everyone to work in the same

shared files.

I really like Memrise. It´s very useful. It has many exercises that help our spelling, listening, reading

hard memorisation words and increase our skills, it has a daily reminder so that we can practise every

day. It’s very captivating. The graphics and the sounds are very appealing and it loads very quickly. It

has 22 levels of difficulty. It’s not boring it’s great.

Memrise works very well and it's very motivating because the app has a great variety of exercises and

vocabulary. It loads very quickly. This app can teach several things, for example idioms, tests, it

and pictures. It is not boring. Memrise doesn't have any advertising. The app and the appearance are

very good.

Memrise is a little repetitive. The sound is very annoying. It´s difficult to use because the information

is not clear.

Memrise works very well and I’m okay with it. I can use Memrise all areas. When I’m bored, I take my

phone and open Memrise. And I learn some vocabulary that I didn’t know. All directions are clear and

I easily learn them. Memrise usually teaches vocabulary. Everybody can comment under every word

which helps you remember the word. Memrise develops our speaking and writing skills. The app,

teaching with pictures and memory exercises.

I have a problem. It’s not bored or something. It’s about internet. I wish I could use it offline.

The “Learn English Grammar” app is good. I liked the app because it contains grammar exercises with

general context. The app motivated me, as it helped me to train grammar and also to recognize

vocabulary. I will continue to use the app to train the various exercises. The app has different exercises

such as: completing dialogues, multiple choice exercises, among others. It contains clear and simple

instructions to follow, various levels of difficulty, loads quickly, develops the ability to listen, read and

and explaining what our mistakes were. It’s very fast, because it doesn’t have an introduction.

It doesn't have any bugs, and it doesn't crash. It has several levels of difficulty. It doesn’t have any

advertising.

NEGATIVE ASPECTS

I really didn’t like the app. It doesn’t have any sounds, images, it’s not appealing, it always has the

same colors and methods of organizing stuff. I think the instructions are not good at all, because it

only shows a few words and that’s kind of unfortunate. The words and exercises are a bit difficult to

people who don’t understand that much of English. It’s only good for people who already own some

skills. The tests are too long and we get bored in the middle of it, so we close it and leave the exercise

in the middle. The exercises are always in the same order, so it’s predictable. The method isn’t very

motivating. I won’t keep using it.

I enjoyed this application because I learnt new words and their meanings so it helped me with

understandable and the sound is well produced. The directions are easy to follow and the degree of

difficulty is low, this application has only got vocabulary and develops memory and listening skills.

This application teaches vocabulary through games where we hear the words in each round.

The application is organized into different categories, and each category contains the word with its

definition, image, and an example how to spell phonetically.

The app is not very motivating because the games are repetitive so it can be a little boring. It is easy

to use and but it has some annoying ads especially when you are playing. The app sometimes crashes.

My app is also very boring. It doesn’t have any sound and is very disorganized. In my opinion the

themes are very confusing and the exercises are all about the same things. It’s too repetitive. It has the

same order of the answers when we do it 2 times. We just can view the score when we close and open

the app. In the beginning we do the exercises with motivation, but then it becomes too boring. It’s not

difficult, but it’s not easy either.

“The Spelling Games” is an easy way to learn some vocabulary and to practise our listening, writing

and spelling skills and our brain. The only things that the app has of good are having great graphics,

good sounds, the words are divided into the letters of the alphabet according to the first letter of the

words, it loads quickly and doesn’t have advertising neither bugs. Maybe I will continue to use it.

NEGATIVE ASPECTS

The app doesn´t have different levels but some of the words are harder to understand. It’s very

repetitive because it can appear the same word like five times in a row. Because my vocabulary isn’t

very developed the game eventually becomes boring because I do not know the words. The

consequence of that is that I lose motivation after a short time. The directions are not very clear nor

simple.

The App is very funny because the work method is funny, too. The method is very motivating because

there are three levels of different difficulties: slow, fast and crazy! The App has three “exercises” or

“levels” to play, it doesn´t have a lot of exercises. The graphics are good and the sound is a little

annoying. The game is very clear and simple to play, The App load quickly and it´s very easy to play.

The App it´s very good to teach vocabulary, because there are a lot of words! We develop writing and

the App teaches a lot of words.

The App is a little boring because crashes sometimes, is repetitive because it is always the same and

is limited because there are only three types of levels. I lose my motivation after a short time because

I think that this is a great app, the method is very motivating because I want to keep improving my

maximum score so it always makes me want to play more and I will definitely keep using it. It loads

The app is also good to develop our vocabulary skills and it makes us think quicker. It doesn’t have

any advertising (that’s definitely a plus!).
