The catalog is organized bycategory. Click on the General Workplace SkillsCategory.

After you click the General Workplace Skills link, another page will display the list of related subcategories as well as any Catalog Items associated to General Workplace Skills.

You can scroll down the page to review them.

Click the Communications link in the Related Categories section.

Click the MBTI Leadership Program (n_GWS-ILT-008) link in the Catalog Items section.

Some Catalog Items may not have any current Activities scheduled. In this case, the system will tell you that no Activities are available for the selected Catalog Item.

To return, click the Browse Catalog link.

From this page, you can search the Catalog by Activity, Catalog Item, Program, or all three.

Click in the Search the Catalog field.

Enter “Ethics” into the search text box and click on the Search Activities button. The search function will returnall the activities avail-able to you with the word “Ethics" in the title or the description. In addition, the searched word can be linked to a catalog item as a keyword, even though it is not in the title or description.

Leave the search field blank and click the Search Programs button to bring up a list of all available Programs.

If there are Programs available for registration, they will appear on this page. You will be able to click on a Register link for that Program.

The All Learning page shows all of your learning activities.

From here, you can view details about the Activity/Program or drop the Activity/Program.

Click the Drop button for the Activity or Program you wish to drop.

A new page will appear, asking if you are sure you want to drop the Activity or Program.

Click the Drop button to finalize.

After clicking the Drop button, you will receive confirmation that you have successfully dropped the Activity or Program.

Choose which Supplemental Learning type you want to add.

Click the Conference/ Forum list item.

This page allows you to enter the details for the Supplemental Learning you are adding.

Notice the Status drop-down list. The asterisk (*) indicatesa required field.

Complete this information and besure to click the Save button.

After clicking the Save button, you will be notified that you have successfully added your Supplemental Learning.

The supplemental learning event you entered now showsup in All Learning with a status of Pending Approval.

From the SLMShome page, click on Main Menu, then Self Service, Learning, andLearning Plans.

Click the Details link for the Learning Plan you want to manage.

From this page you can view details of the items in your plan (if any) or you can add new learning to your plan, to be completed in the future.

Click the Add New Learning to Plan link.

Search the catalog for the activity you want to add to your learning plan. Enter the desired information into the Search the Catalog field, and click the Search Activities button.

Click the Add To Plan link next to the activity you want to add.

Click the OK button.

You can now see the activity you want has been added to your Learning Plan.

Click the Add New Learning to Plan link to continue.

Click the Medium list item to change the priority for this item on your learning plan.

Click the Save button to finalize the changes to your learning plan.

From the Main Menu, navigate to Team Learning and click on the Team Members menu.

The Team Members page provides a list of all your direct reports. Click on a team member’s name for profile information.

Click the Return to Previous Page link.

Items pending manager approval will be listed in the Pending Approvals section.

To take action on a pending approval, select the team member and click the Approve or Deny button.

On the Team Members page a manager can take an action for several team members at one time.

Use the Select All link to select all the learners listed.

Clicking on a checkbox will deselect a learner. Select the desired action from the drop-down list and click Go.

We will not enroll the learners in this example.

On the Team Learning page, managers can view a list of learning activities that their team members are enrolled in and programs for which they are registered.

From the Main Menu, navigate to Team Learning and click on the Team Learning menu.

Managers can also enroll and drop team members from learning activities and programs, or modify supplemental learning requests.

The Search Filter can be used to filter the display on the page.

To enroll a direct report in an activity from the Team Learning page…

click on the Enroll button to the right of the learner’s name and the activity information.

Similarly, to drop a learner from an activity, select the Drop button.

SLMS provides an opportunity for you to change your mind.

From the Main Menu, navigate to Team Learning and click on the Team Learning Plans menu.

Notice that each team member automatically has a learning plan assigned called My Learning Plan. Neither you nor the team member can delete the default learning plan.

To view a particular learning plan for a team member, click on the name of the plan.

You will be guided to search the catalog to find programs, catalog items or activities to add to your team member’s plan.

To search for and enroll team members in learning activities, catalog items, or programs, navigate to Team Learning and click on the Search Catalog menu.

You can also browse the catalog to find learning for team members.

The search results are similar to the results an individual learner would see.

Select the Enroll link for Basic Math Skills 101 (BMS-101).

Select the Enroll button next to the desired activity.

The next screen will require you to select one or more team members to enroll in the selected activity.

From the Main Menu, navigate to Team Learning and click on the Supplemental Learning menu.

As a manager you can add supplemental learning to a team member’s transcript. Select the team member from the Team Members list.

Follow the steps you would follow as a learner.

To approve supplemental learning for a team member, return to the Team Learning page.

Dolores has a submitted a supplemental learning request. Click on the Modify button.

Guidelines for Approval

• All supplemental learning must be approved by the learner’s manager.

• How your agency currently manages employee training• If your agency wants employees to enter their own supplemental training

• It is important that your agency develop policies concerning what type of training is acceptable to add to the learners transcript.

• Ensure that your process for entering supplemental learning results in accurate recording of the learning.
