Anyone can create and have a blog. That is one of the privileges offered by the internet. But just like anything else, this privilege also comes with responsibility. You have to learn the different blog etiquette to make sure you don’t step someone else’s foot.

When posting comments on the blog of others, it would be nice to comment on the content of the article you read instead of writing something which has nothing to do with the content of the article. You should avoid making incorrect comments on the blog or comment of others. You should not use foul language or ask questions impertinent to the content. If you want to do this and ask a question, simply email the owner of the blog.

Using the content of other bloggers as a chat room, text messaging service, IM or email is completely out of bounds unless the owner of the blog desires it meaning you have to review the blog of someone else for content and determine its use.

It is also inappropriate to advertize your product, service or website especially if it is not related to the article or blog where you want to add your comments to. There are auction sites and social networking sites that allow you to do this. Many blog owners automatically delete ridiculous or inappropriate comments and ads on their blogs.

It will only be a waste of your time and energy if you keep on posting these comments because no one will be able to read it after the owner of the blog has deleted it or not approved the comment for posting.

Many blogs only allow comments that are appropriate to the content are approved for others to read. They will only post those comments that they think would be helpful to them or to the others who are asking questions in the comments. Blog owners respond to comments that are written for the purpose of creating a conversation or generating interest of other commenter.

If you wish to use the blog of others or a few sentences of the blog for your own blog, you should not forget to ask permission to the owner of the blog before publishing it. Many people make the mistake of using someone else’s content on their blog. You can be in a big and serious trouble if you do the same thing. Simply mention in your article that the excerpt is from a blog of another author. You should also mention credits for images you use in your blog that is not yours.

If you want to be successful at blogging, you should learn blog etiquette. This will not only enhance and prolong your blogging journey, this also allows you to keep a good reputation in the world of blogging.
