Who Can Apply? • Applications are open to all DECD primary schools,
secondary schools and local partnerships.
• Professional expertise and industry links will be available to help students and teachers prepare submissions and designs.
• The size of individual student groups or classes will be determined by the schools or partnerships involved.
• Consideration will be given to applications from STEM learners underrepresented in STEM subjects, including Aboriginal learners and girls.
Application Process
Two Stage Process
• Stage 1: expression of interest (EOI)
– by 7 July 2017 (Term 2: Week 10)
• Stage 2: 5 minute multimedia presentation
– by 20 September 2017 (Term 3: Week 8)
Stage 1: expression of interest (EOI)
Schools can submit a potential experiment by
– completing an expression of interest form, including
– principal endorsement, and returning it by 7 July 2017
Neumann Space and DECD will give feedback about
– the experiment’s viability.
Expression of interest feedback will be returned
– by 24 July 2017, and will inform stage 2 of the application

Stage 2: 5 minute multimedia presentation

– The presentation will be supported by a 3 to 8 page portfolio.
Presentations to be showcased at the
– 68th International Astronautical Congress,
– held in Adelaide from September 25 to 29.
Stage 2 - shortlisted
Six presentations will be shortlisted, by a panel of space industry experts.
The 6 short-listed experimental lead schools will be announced by Monday 30 October, 2017.
– These schools will progress to the prototype design and testing stage (test and improve)
– 3 successful entries will then be selected for launch.
