A nother item from my State of the City report to the City Council on January 5, 2016, was a comparison of the combined city utility fees for the following municipalities: Riverton, Bluffdale, Draper, Herriman, and South Jordan. As you will see, the following Cost of Core Services table provides a summary of this comparison to further demonstrate how Riverton City residents benefit from among the lowest costs in City fees. Cost of Core Services Sanitation, Storm Water Utility, Parks, Street Lights, and Water compared to our neighbors The reason our total bill for the City utility is the lowest among our neighbors is because of our great City Council and staff. Our City Council and staff are very bright, attentive to keeping our service costs down, and willing to fund system improvements when they are needed. Sincerely, Mayor Bill Riverton City Contacts 12830 S. The reason our total bill for the City utility is the lowest among our neighbors is because of our great City Council and staff. Our City Council and staff are very bright, attentive to keeping our service costs down, and willing to fund system improvements when they are needed.

UPD Safety Tip—Don’t Leave Your Vehicle UnattendedNumerous vehicles have been stolen this winter due to leaving them running and unattended. So far Riverton City hasn’t seen the high numbers of thefts that other areas have experienced, but it’s not due to lack of opportunity. Remember that it is a violation of Utah State Code to leave a vehicle running and unattended with the keys in the ignition.

If the supply of unattended, running vehicles continues to be high, it will only be a matter of time before the criminals make their way to Riverton. Let’s all commit to keeping the supply down and our City safe! 41-6a-1403. Motor vehicle left unattended-Requirements.

Street SweepingThere are generally days in February where the weather is warm enough to run the street sweeper. During the winter our roads collect dirt, and sand mostly from sand in the salt spread on the roads during snowy weather. The Stormwater Division would like to ask for your patience as the sweeper can only operate on the warmer days. Also, you can help keep the street clear by parking your vehicles in your driveway. Your cooperation will help us keep the roads clean and keep dirt and sand out of our waterways, while improving the appearance of your neighborhoods.

Riverton City Winter Tips & Ordinances Help keep Riverton City streets and sidewalks clean and safe! Remember… • No parking on the roadways

from midnight to 7:00 a.m. from November 1 to April 1 every year. (Riverton City Ordinance #11-3-45)

• Keep fire hydrants clear of snow. A few minutes spent looking for a buried hydrant can make the difference of saving or losing your home.

• Be sure the lid on your culinary water meter is closed down tight to prevent freezing.

• Shut off your secondary water valve. Neglecting to turn off this valve can lead to flooding or other problems when the water is turned back on in the spring.

• Sidewalks should be clear of hail, snow, or sleet. Help resi-

dents and people walking through the City stay safe and off busy roads.

Businesses, homeowners, and agents of any property

should clear sidewalks along their property before 9:00 a.m. (Riverton City

Ordinance 12.05.060)
