T he summer of 2015 will be a great one in Riverton. We will party, party, and party, as we continue with our 150th Birthday celebration! To celebrate our 150th I have listed some of the great activities that will be held in June and the first few days of July. June 22: Grand opening of the reno- vated Riverton City Park. This will be a night of fun, food, and entertainment that will start at 4:30 p.m., with the free Osmond and Alex Boye’ concert starting at 7:30 p.m. June 25: 3-Man Sorting Competition that will start at 6:00 p.m. in the rodeo grounds. June 26 – 27: River- ton City rodeo starting at 8:00 p.m. This is always a wonderful ro- deo and will be enjoyed by all members of your family. June 29: New Splash Pad opens at noon in the Riverton City Park. There will be activities for children that will include food and gifts. July 1 – 4: Midway Carnival, located behind City Hall. July 3: Parade starting at 6:30 p.m., and after the parade there will be a party in the park. July 4: Town Days at the Riverton City Park. The morning will start with a flag ceremony at 6:30 a.m. in the northern part of the park followed by breakfast starting at 7:00 a.m. Then activities and events will take place throughout the entire day, finishing with fireworks at 10:00 p.m. In addition to these activities, the beauti- fication of the northeast corner of 12600 South and Redwood Road should be finished in early June. This corner will be a focal point for Riverton High School in downtown Riverton. The 85-acre commercial development being proposed by CenterCal Properties, LLC, located on 13400 South between Bangerter Highway and Mountain View Corridor continues to progress towards construc- tion starting during 2016. At the request of CenterCal, the City Council and I recently took part in two days of meet- ings with potential retail and restaurant tenants. The response from those represent- ing the many ten- ants was extremely positive and we were overwhelmed by the excitement and inter- est generated by the new development. CenterCal also completed the extremely successful Station Park development in Farming- ton. The Riverton development will be similar to Station Park, but will be a little larger with more amenities. Riverton City will have a lot of wonderful events this summer. I hope you will attend and enjoy them all! Sincerely, Mayor Bill Riverton City Contacts 12830 S. A typical Utah lawn has a water demand curve that begins in mid-April, rises to a peak in July, and then falls rapidly until mid-October. Adjusting your timer monthly to better follow this demand curve will save you water and money. An easy way to do this is to keep the minutes constant and increase or decrease the number of days between watering as shown below.
