My favorite season is here…SUMMER! There are so many fun things to do like taking a walk, riding bike, enjoying the sun on the beach, tending to my flowers, sitting by a fire eating s’mores and traveling with family and friends. I hope you take the time to enjoy the beauty of summer and make some family memories. Summer is a very busy time at American State Bank too! We just finished a very successful Customer Appreciation Week. Thank you to everyone who came to the President’s Picnic. We had a great time serving you a delicious meal and enjoying the entertainment. We appreciate your friendship and patronage. Many of our county fairs are held in July. American State Bank sponsors many events and a lot of our employees volunteer. The Sioux County Fair will be held July 16-22 in Sioux Center. One of the highlights of the fair for our ASB employees is judging the “Best Pie Contest”. It’s a dirty job but someone has to do it! Ha! Ha! The O’Brien County fair will be held in Primghar on July 20-25 and the Lyon County Fair is July 21-25 in Rock Rapids. Hull Summerfest will be held July 10-13. Please join the Hull community and our ASB employees at the Best Candy Parade in the area on Saturday, July 13 at 10:00 am. Have a great month & enjoy the summer fun! - Ln Mra, Sp Club Cdinat JULY 2019 “ Sp Us” The American Spirit Club traveled to Sioux Falls on a beautiful Saturday in June for a performance at the Washington Pavilion. Before the show we had a delicious lunch at Ode de Food & Drink located near the thriving 8th & Railroad Center of Sioux Falls. Our group was able to enjoy our meal in a private dining room on the 3rd floor with a beautiful view of Sioux Falls. After lunch we took a quick tour of Falls Park and saw the new concert venue, Levitt At the Falls. We were all impressed with the transformation of Downtown Sioux Falls. Then it was time for our main event, the Broadway musical, Les Miserables. This epic and uplifting story begins in 1815. It follows the lives and interactions of several characters, particularly the struggles of ex-convict Jean Valjean and his experience of redemption. Through the conflict and the revolution, the theme of social injustice and even grace was observed. The Spirit Club Members were amazed by the extraordinary music, the talented cast and the marvelous sets. It was a wonderful day of entertainment, good food and time spent with friends. L Mabl
