CDRlive is an end-to-end enterprise system from a single provider

Core BusinessLGR’s core business centers on CDRlive, a carrier-grade solution that seamlessly fuses ETL, DW and BI within a single, end-to-end system, and further integrates other OSS/BSS systems to form a highly robust Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) solution.

Carrier-Grade ArchitectureThe CDRlive architecture is designed specifi cally for the DW requirements of global network operators. It is built from the ground up to manage high data volumes, mas-sive scalability, diverse data feeds/types, mixed workload environments and intensive user demand – all within a real-time, carrier-grade system.

Telco Data ModelThe unique CDRlive Telco Data Model takes a fresh, “bottom up” approach to telco EDW rollouts. Its foundation is network usage data (e.g., CDRs, SS7 probes, etc.), the most crucial data to any operator, followed by incremental expansion to include “fi rst-line” telco systems data (e.g., Billing, HLR, etc.) and broader enterprise systems (e.g., CRM, Financials, etc.).

Market-Leading PerformanceCDRlive offers telco operators market-leading performance in all areas. Its ETL processes have been proven to oper-ate at a rate in excess of 150,000 rows per second in production, while its DW infrastructure scales effortlessly to hundreds of terabytes while supporting thousands of concurrent users.

Best-of-Breed COTSCDRlive customers have the dual benefi t of using an open architecture based on best-of-breed IT components (e.g., Oracle DBMS, HP/Sun/Exadata hardware), while having the system delivered as an end-to-end Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) offering with a single global partner for development and support.

Real-time ETL offers unmatched performance

Data Management

ETLUnlike “vanilla” ETL tools, CDRlive’s proprietary ETL is specifi cally designed for the massive workload environ-ments of global telecommunications operators. This area of data management is often the weak point of most telco DW systems, yet with CDRlive, customers have the reas-surance of market-leading performance and a rock-solid platform for DW and BI success.

The four primary stages of CDRlive’s ETL processes are as follows:

Collect and ConvertCDRlive extracts all network data and processes it into a single, consistent format. It provides for:• All traffi c types – mobile, fi xed line, IP, multimedia,

broadcast, etc.• All network types – PSTN, GSM, GPRS, UMTS, CDMA,

EVDO, WiMAX, etc.• All network vendors – Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent,

Nokia-Siemens, Cisco, etc.

EnrichmentCDRlive performs pre-database enrichment of raw data, using additional data sources as required. Examples include the enrichment of CDRs with LNP data, LERG data, Guiding data (e.g., customer address), device data (e.g., handset features) and fi nancial data.

Summarization and Profi lingCDRlive provides for pre-database summarization and profi ling of data in order to optimize downstream query processes. For example, the profi ling engine will profi le all MDNs on both the host and competing networks for a given market or sub-market.

LoadingAll data is loaded in real time into the CDRlive Data Ware-house. The CDRlive ETL offers unmatched performance in this area, and has achieved loading speeds in excess of 150,000 rows per second (or 15 billion rows per day) in a live production site.

Market Leading: • Performance• Scalability• Data Quality

Oracle ExadataLGR’s market-leadership in telco data warehouses led Oracle to select it in 2007 as a primary beta-tester of the revolutionary new Oracle Exadata DW platform. Following extensive benchmark testing against its largest production system, LGR was able to conclude that Exadata provided a 20X performance benefi t over traditional DW architectures. Because of this, as well as the numerous business benefi ts associated with Oracle Exadata, LGR has chosen it as its preferred DW platform moving forward and is actively involved in Oracle Exadata installations around the globe.

Data WarehouseCDRlive provides a massively scalable, high-performance DW architecture that is unmatched anywhere in the world. The core DW makes use of LGR’s proprietary high-performance data model for the storage of data, and is specifi cally designed to facilitate simultaneous real-time loading and query. It is engineered using Oracle 10g/11g, including key Oracle components such as Real Application Clusters (RAC), Partitioning and Parallel Query.

Customers are provided with guarantees over DW per-formance, giving them confi dence in a system that will never falter in terms of growth or performance. By way of example, the world’s largest production CDRlive system has the following characteristics:

BI Built for TelcoCDRinsight is a highly powerful and extensible analysis and dashboard toolset that allows business users to un-lock the hidden value within CDRlive data, adding context and meaning to it to drive the business into ever more profi table directions.

Information Access

Business IntelligenceCDRlive provides a number of toolsets to assist in the rapid delivery of strategic insight to users across the enterprise. For example, the CDRlive client is a detailed reporting and analysis tool that is particularly appropriate for network-focused analysis, while the VISUAlive web-reporting toolset it ideal for less sophisticated users requiring a pre-built environment for ad-hoc analysis.

CDRlive also supports all major BI suites, integrating seamlessly with the likes Oracle BI, Business Objects, SAS, Cognos and Microstrategy. This ensures that CDRlive is able to cater for the pre-existing BI standards of any customer and provide a rapid time to value. More recently though, LGR and Oracle have collaborated to produce CDRinsight, an advanced, telco-specifi c BI toolset based on the Oracle BI platform.

CDRinsightCDRInsight leverages the formidable functionality of the Oracle BI Enterprise Edition suite, and provides a wide range of detailed and highly functional dashboards that allow users to explore data at any level of granularity, have it presented to them in a user friendly and highly interactive manner, as well as have the ability to perform deeper analysis through ad-hoc query capabilities. Case in Point: SNAThe next generation of predictive analytics

Beyond BI – CDRlive Advanced AnalyticsCDRlive Advanced Analytics is a powerful suite of pre-dictive analytics and modeling solutions that have been engineered and proven in the toughest of competitive climates. Pre-built as commercial off-the-shelf offerings, the CDRlive Advanced Analytics solutions have been delivering hundreds of millions of dollars of value when most solutions have stayed fi rmly on the drawing board. Existing production examples include the following:

Competitor AnalysisAdvanced B-number analysis and subscriber modeling are used to provide a detailed view into past, current and future competitor activity at a national, regional, market and sub-market level. Measures include market share, gross/net adds, disconnects, share of net adds, churn rates, etc., with results proven to be more than 99.9% accurate.

Churn PredictionCDRlive data is combined with data from supplementary sources to produce models that rank subscribers’ propen-sity to churn according to more than 7,000 behavioral characteristics. Current production solutions have provided incremental lift to existing churn models, as well as unlocked new areas of churn analysis that were previously overlooked by operators.

Social Network Analysis (SNA)LGR uses its SNA solution to link subscribers based on their CDR interactions as well as profi ling of supplementary data such as names, family plans, etc. Using both “hard” and “soft” links to defi ne socially bound networks and their behavior, SNA results are invaluable inputs in areas such as churn mitigation, viral marketing campaigns, customer acquisition and retention, and identifi cation of competitive weakness or threat.
