My name is Samir. I am 15 years old and I am from Yemen. I live in the capital city of Sana’a. I speak Arabic and a little English. My name means “happy friend,” and my friends call me Sam. I like to play soccer.
Samir
I live with my family in an apartment building near the center of the city. There are many families living in our building. My father’s name is Amir. He is 48 years old. He has brown eyes and black hair.
father
He builds and repairs roads. It is hard work and on weekends he likes to go to the countryside to relax with the family. My father tells me that it is important to be together with the family.
My family’s religion is Islam. We go to the mosque to pray together on Fridays. We take our shoes off before we go into the mosque, because it is a holy place. We celebrate Ramadan and during this time we fast; we do not eat food from morning to night.
