Lodge Administrator As always our dedicated Board of Officers is constantly working at coming up with innovative ideas on how to improve the lodge and its environment. Making our facility a safe and attractive place to visit and spend time, it is of primary importance to us and a major requirement in attracting new members to our fellowship. If you haven’t visited the lodge recently you will find that we have installed two doorways with accordion style doors in the south wall of the social quarters. This will give us easier access to the hall from the social quarters area during functions and eliminate the bottleneck at the other entranceway. It will also help our staff serve people in the hall more easily, making their life a little less hectic as well. This project has been in the works for several months and was considered by the Board to be a great way to improve our facility. The House Committee approved the project and Wayne Philbrook (Trustee) and Jack Saunders (Treasurer) teamed up to make the renovation. A special thanks to you both for using your special talents on behalf of the Lodge. Starting in August we have a reserved parking spot for one of our hard working, selfless volunteers, someone that has devoted many hours to the lodge each month. One individual (continued) Governor’s Message As a longtime member of the lodge I am very concerned about membership attendance, or rather the lack of it, at the twice monthly membership meetings. The severe lack of interest in the lodge’s business affairs is indicative of a deep and fatale attitude that is being displayed by the membership in general. The board of Officers works hard at trying to keep the lodge up and running and it is most disheartening at a regularly scheduled membership meeting to look out and see only empty chairs or perhaps only one or two members seated there. This lack of interest and inattention can not continue if the lodge is itself going to continue and grow. I would point out that this condition has nothing to do with the summer population flux. It has been ongoing and has become chronic for some time now and is very unfortunate. The membership needs to be represented at these meetings to vote not only on various expenditures of lodge funds and debts but also respond to items of policy and other items of interest regarding the very direction of the lodge itself. These things ultimately affect the entire membership and the very future of the lodge’s existence. When only one or two members are present they have total control of what happens when a vote is called for. Do you want your lodge controlled by a couple of people that randomly show up for a meeting? It is not a healthy situation by any means. The only way to remedy this is to show up at the meetings. Our lodge is a great lodge, full of very giving people who turn out in support of every event sponsored by the lodge, whether charity, social, or competitive. We are greatly blessed in having such an active lodge in carrying on the traditional intent of the Moose. Please come and help us (the Board of Officers) do a good job for you, the membership. We can put our shoulder to the wheel but only you can make it turn. Respectfully, Evans Neal, Governor MOOSE LEGION NEWS: Next meeting at the West Marion Moose Lodge will be on Monday, August 27, 2015 following the Lodge Membership Meeting. Administrator (continued from page 2) will be awarded their own parking spot for one month. If you see them give them a pat on the back. Our regular volunteers are great as always and sure make a big difference in our lodge. Without our volunteers our Lodge would not be the special place that it is.

If you have not stopped in the lodge for lunch of dinner you will have a pleasant surprise. We were so blessed recently in getting two of the best cooks we have ever had. The meals are great and the kitchen has the friendliest atmosphere you could imagine and is very clean and organized. You will see two things coming out of our kitchen, big smiles and awesome food.

We are restarting some entertainment on Saturdays and if it works out we could continue it on a regular basis.

We have a huge sock hop planned. It will include great food and entertainment for your pleasure and enjoyment. Keep an eye on future issues of the monthly Moose Dispatch.

Don’t forget to tell your friends and family about our lodge and the activities that we enjoy each month. Sign up your eligible family members, friends and neighbors. Moose International is giving big rewards to our members who sign up new members. If we all work together we can make a huge difference in the success of our lodge in the future. Please don’t hesitate to let us know your ideas on what might help to improve our lodge. Every little bit helps and every bit helps a little.

Thanks for being the great folks that you are. Fraternally, Jim Kermans, Administrator

Editor’s Note We are enjoying working at making

the Dispatch a success for the Lodge. We want to make things as easy as possible on everyone involved with the process. To that end we will be

publishing in each issue a suggested cutoff date for information to be

included in the next months’ issue. This will help us get the editing done

in a timely manner and allow the printing, assembly, and mailing to

take place without putting stress and undue pressure on other volunteers.

Cutoff date for the next issue is September 22 for the October issue.

Thank You, Editors

EVERY DAY…EVERY HOUR… WE WILL BE DRAWING A NUMBER…IF YOU ARE

SITTING IN THAT STOOL WITH THAT NUMBER YOU WILL WIN A FREE DRINK EXCEPT FRIDAY LAST DRAWING IS AT

5:00 PM.

Sounds Like A Moose Call To Me! Let us then as people set our faces

resolutely against evil, and with broad charity, with kindness and good will toward

all men, but with an unflinching determination to smile down wrong, let us

strive with all the strength that is given us for righteousness in public and in private life.

MOOSE LODGE 2356

IN ACTION

James and Sandra Brown are a special addition to our Lodge 2356 staff. They are residents of Pine Run and active members of Friendship Baptist Church where James serves as an usher and both sing in the choir.

James, a veteran, served in the United States Army. Sandra is the mother of five and the grandmother of six granddaughters. They are the owners of Lighthouse Cleaners. Their love for people and for cooking has

brought them to our Lodge. Please make them feel welcome and at home.

STOP IN AND MEET OUR NEW COOKS JAMES & SANDRA

Celebration of Life was held on July 10th for Cliff Sherer who has been a member of this lodge since 1998. Cliff's final wish was to offer an open bar to his family, friends and brothers of West

Marion Moose Lodge.

Cliff always projected an air of quiet dignity whenever he was at the lodge and one could imagine that his bearing did not change outside the confines of our fraternity. Upon arrival in

the social quarters he was always greeted by the members with a big hello and a warm welcoming smile. That does not happen unless you are a person of great quality. Our lodge is

diminished by his passing but we will remember him as Brother and friend.
