The summer months are here. The lodge continues to move forward. On behalf of myself and our elected team of officers, thank you, and to our valued members for your support. Service becomes that more rewarding. Success begins with the social quarters staff, our wonderful WOTM, co-workers and member volunteers. We have so much to offer. Bingo, Dinners and Dancing, Karaoke, Pool, Fellowship and so much more. In Moose tradition lets keep the fun going and have a great summer. ***Special thanks to Chris Cavanaugh, owner of Dockside Marine, Inc. for the use of his smoker/cooker equipment.

MOOSE BOOSTER ’S
As you all know we depend heavily on our members for the
existence of our lodge. We are constantly searching for Volunteers to share their expertise in a given Endeavour and today it is of particular importance that we find a person among our ranks that is familiar with the repair or replacement of roofs. Unfortu-nately we are not in a financial position to simply order a new roof to replace the existing one. For that to take place we would need ex-tended financing and at the moment we would be quite satisfied with a patch job until we can make more permanent arrangements. If there is someone among us who has this type of expertise and could make this happen the lodge and all of its members would be ec-statically grateful. It is of vital importance, so I ask you to please come forward and share your expertise to help with one of the biggest obsta-cles ever for our lodge. Give us a call at 321-779-5744 (Office) or 321-779-5794 Social Quarters) or come by, no appointment necessary.
Fraternally,
Bill Hopkins, Administrator

Another month has gone by and time sure flies when you’re having fun and fun is what we were all about at our Father’s day fun fest which was chaired by Duane Flynn on June 14th. She really put on quite the affair (and a lot of hard work)! If you were not there, you don’t know what you missed. 1st off was the delicious BBQ@ dinner put on by Will Kyles for the LOOM. Then it got even bet-ter when out came the clowns and then the FUN began with Fun & Prizes for all. KUDOS to Steve Murphy for being the DJ with lots of good music! The drawing for the Father’s day raffle basket was Sunday at the Chicken Fry. Winners were: BBQ Basket, Frank Stein. Fishing Basket, Dale Targowski. Golf Basket was Peg Bocchi. Congratulations to all our winners. I would really like to see more ladies at our meetings. Please come out to see what we are all about. We will be having orientation for new mem-bers following our Meeting on the 4th Wednesday of Every Month. I Hope to see you there. On a more somber note, we have draped our
Charter in Memory of Helen Wright who passed on 6/13. Coming up July 12th, Carrie Wam is chairing our WOTM function and putting on a Pajama Party, check your calendar for all the details!

BACK TO BASICS” is the watchword of the Moose Fraternity and the Moose Legion this year, and well it should be. The ‘basic’ principles that have guided this organization for over 100 years have been well tested by time. They boil down to: Fellowship; Friendship; Family; Faith; Fun and Frolic; to which is added Help and Service to the Community and to Mooseheart and Moosehaven. “Your Lodge is NOT a country club where it would cost a fortune to enjoy the same amenities that you have available here. This is NOT a club where your monthly fees cover the cost of the entire operation of the club. This IS a Moose Lodge where our number one priority IS to support the children at Mooseheart and the seniors at Moosehaven. This IS a Moose Lodge where we provide a place for fraternal gathering. This IS a Moose Lodge where we provide functions for families to enjoy. This IS a Moose Lodge where we offer a safe and secure environment for men, women and children. This IS a Moose Lodge where our members have to pitch in and help by volunteering; by attending functions; and by getting involved.” Our Moose Legion Committee pushed off this new Moose year with the “NIGHT IN ITALY” dinner on June 27th. Coming up on July 25th, we hope everyone will enjoy our “FIREHOUSE FRIENDLY FEEDBAG” featuring every Volunteer Fire Department’s traditional “great grub”. In our case, it will be the “WORLD’S GREATEST MEATLOAF” with all the fixing's. As always, a great THANK YOU is given to the WOTM and all the Co-Workers who invariably are part of what makes this Lodge so great!
Fraternally,
Fred Collins FRED COLLINS Chairman, Moose Legion Committee
Brevard County 8 Ball Travel League:
Presently we hold third place. We will resume this session July 8th. Scheduling calls for two weeks bye. Special thanks to the Moose Legionnaires, Charlie Rambo, Bill Easterly, Rose Van Winkle, Linda Reese, Cathy and Margie for the repairs on our pool table.
Fraternally yours,
Michael A. Marks

If you haven’t been to one in a while, you might be surprised at the swift pace of
most Moose meetings. You have opportunity for effective input without wasting
your time. And then you can enjoy an opportunity to relax with friends.
Has your Lodge or Chapter ever scheduled a program or event you wished you
could have been involved with from the beginning? Have you ever wondered why it
seems you have no say in how your Lodge operates?
More likely than not, you haven’t been attending the meetings of your Lodge or
Chapter recently. Making it a habit to attend those meetings regularly is obviously a
plus for your Lodge or Chapter. But we think you’ll be surprised how much you will
come to see these meetings as beneficial and enjoyable for you. Here’s why:
First off, as of the night they’re enrolled, every member of this fraternity has a vote -
and it counts! When you attend a meeting, you may be voting on the acceptance of
new members, the expenditure of Lodge or Chapter funds, or the election of officers.
By attending meetings, you’ll learn more about what various Lodge or Chapter
committees are doing - and who are the people working behind the scenes. If they’re
planning a special event for, say, Independence Day, why not ask if you can help
out? By getting involved, you can slowly work toward having more events of the
sort that you like - and that you think others would like. By lending a hand to carry
them out, you’ll know you did your best to ensure that they were a success.
As an informed member, you will know if the Lodge and Chapter officers are
doing everything they should to ensure a successful fraternal operation, including:
Making sure the Family Activities Committee fills the calendar with a variety of fun
events every month. Making sure that fellow members or co-workers who are
hospitalized are being visited and that their families’ needs are being met; and
perhaps most important, Assuring that members are made welcome when they visit
the Social Quarters. Whatever your reason for having joined your Lodge or Chapter,
attending its meetings regularly enables you to learn how it works, and what’s
happening in your area of interest.
Meetings are easy to follow, because they adhere to a strict agenda, following
Robert’s Rules of Order. Seven members constitute a quorum for a Lodge meeting -
provided that the Governor, Jr. Governor, Prelate, or a Past Governor (in that order)
is present to preside.
The Nine O’Clock Ceremony (you may remember it from the night you were
enrolled) is a tradition upheld at Lodge and Chapter meetings - and helps us all
remember one of the essential reasons our fraternity exists: our children at
Mooseheart Child City & School.
Another reason to get out of the house and to the Lodge on meeting night is - fun.
It gives you an enjoyable change of pace from your usual day-to-day routine,
offering you a night out and an opportunity to patronize your Lodge’s Social
Quarters.
So - what’s holding you back? Find out when the next meeting is scheduled. You
do have a voice in the actions, programs and decisions of your Lodge and Chapter -
but only if you’re there to exercise it!

I would like to shine the spotlight on one of our members whose
efforts we all enjoy, but take for granted. That member is CHRIS
BANTA. When you are in the lodge sitting in AC comfort with
the outside temperature in the nineties, he is the guy that keeps
us all cool. In some of the worst summer conditions Chris,
without hesitation, in the rain and of course with scorching heat ,
goes on the roof and makes the necessary repairs so that life goes
on in comfort in the Social Quarters. He is there in record time
after receiving the call from us and takes care of it without fan
fare or cost to the lodge. It is past due to give him our thanks and
to let him know of our appreciation for his efforts.
A BIG 'THANK YOU' TO CHRIS BANTA FROM MOOSE
