The charming town of Aylsham is that rare thing – a market town bursting with independent shops and a strong sense of community that is truly thriving, plus the town retains its pretty period properties and attractive good looks. This home is found just a stone’s throw from the centre but you could live in Aylsham for years and never know it was here, so it benefits from a sense of privacy and tranquility.

Perfect PlacementComing from the town centre, you walk or drive down a little lane then the house is even further set back. Go through the classic five-bar gate and down the tree-lined drive and the property then reveals itself. “One of the big draws for us was the chance to enjoy all the advantages of the central location but without the usual downsides,” explain the owners, “There’s no compromise here – you have seclusion and space, inside and out. It’s a real gem.” Aylsham does indeed have everything, including a market, a wide range of independent shops, main supermarkets, a library, surgery and schools up to and including one of the most desirable high schools in the area. It’s also ideally situated around half way between Norwich and the North Norfolk coast, so you can easily head down into the city in around 20 minutes or up to Cromer in the same time. Blickling is just down the road – a lovely place to walk, all year round.

High Spec HomeBuilt to a high standard, the clear sense of quality throughout also appealed to the owners. The previous occupants had been here since the house was new and had cared for it well. The current owners have further improved, the main thing being the addition of a studio above the garage that makes an ideal cinema room, music room, home business premises, games room or guest room. In the main part of the house, the sun room is a favourite with the owners – a great place to entertain throughout the seasons, it warms up quickly with even a little sunshine. The layout makes this home work so well, with the circular flow lending itself to parties as well as the ins and outs of busy family life. The cosy sitting room has a nice log burner that the owners have added and this draws you in when the fire is blazing away in colder months.

Created With CareThe whole long driveway is blockwork with automatic lighting and sets the tone for the care and attention to detail found throughout the garden. “We think the previous owners had it professionally landscaped, or at the very least, knew what they were doing, as it’s been so thoughtfully planted. There’s always something to see throughout the year.” There are beautiful
