Page 2: Looking for contract work part 1

Hello out of work contractor I have

an urgent requirement. Client wants a

consultant on site like yesterday.

Hope this is the one. Have not had an

interview in three months.

The market must be

dead.

Hi nice recruitment

consultant. Yes I am available

right now Interview

tomorrow. No problem.

Page 3: Looking for contract work part 1

Thanks for turning up independent consultant. We

need someone like you asap. You will work here on site in London three days a week and spend the other

two days a week in Europe.

Yes. I am very interested

and I would be happy if could make me an offer.

Page 4: Looking for contract work part 1

Yes that’s brilliant news. Please contact

my last Project

Manager. We had a long

chat before I left and he

would be good for a

reference.

Hi independent consultant I have great news the

client wants you start next week. I just need to take a

reference from your last contract.

Page 5: Looking for contract work part 1

Hi husband guess what,

good news at last. I should

start next week. The rate

is a bit less than last time but after that

six week break and then

looking for he last three

months who cares..

Thanks god for that you are getting so bored at home on your own all day.

That’s a relief at least we

will be able to pay for the

new kitchen. Glad we did not move to

that four bed detached after all.

Page 6: Looking for contract work part 1

That cannot be right. They

wanted to renew my contract ,

why would they give me a bad reference. Are you sure you spoke to the right person?

I am sorry I have some bad news. The client has

withdrawn offer. They do not like what your ex-

project manager said about you.This

needs to be sorted

out. Please

give me all the details.

Page 7: Looking for contract work part 1

That is odd but I cannot get hold of ex-project manager on the phone or e-mail.

What is his problem. I guess it’s why no one has been touching me with a “barge poll” as

they say. But there must be a REASON?

Page 8: Looking for contract work part 1

Thank you for your advice nice

kind solicitor but no I do not

have £20,000 to pursue a legal case. I know it was a long time

ago but I did receive a

distinction in my law exam.

Sorry there is not much

more we can do it is

a civil matter.

The following year

This is a disaster now I have been turned down for contract

after contract.

Ten years in this game

it’s my bread and

butter what should I do!

Page 9: Looking for contract work part 1

Hi lovely husband. I am getting nowhere with these references and

with 30 years experience I am fed up with being patronized. The only thing to do is to set up my own small

consultancy to find work. You will need to pay the mortgage and the bills until I find a

client!

I do not have any

other suggestions. Hope it

works.

She is going to hate me being the

breadwinner. We did not get married

on that basis. I hope she

can find some clients.

I’ll just run that by my accountant. They have

lots of contacts. Should be

established in no time. .
