Parenting by Design states they are a “faith-based” offering parenting

series that compare current parenting paradigms to be the ageless part-

ing principles in the Bible.

Taking care of #1

1 Cor. 10:12: So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! (NIV).

Is it possible that in an effort to be the best parent you can be, you sometimes neglect your own spiritual growth? When the demands of your family require you to be on the go from dawn until late at night, you may be tempted to sacrifice your quiet time, prayer or other spir-itual disciplines. Paul recognized this tendency in the people he was discipling and cautioned against it. You will have a hard time giving to anyone from an empty spiritual "cup." Even Jesus had to take time away from the crowds and His disciples to talk to the Father.

When we forget to give God the best of our day, we may begin to see issues like anger, bitterness, resentment, and moral dilemmas arise. We are not doing our kids any favors when we are spiritually exhausted. As Paul was saying goodbye to the Ephesian elders, he cautioned them, "Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers" (Acts20:28 NIV).

Notice he warned them first to keep watch over themselves; then their flock. What a valuable lesson for us as parents.

When your relationship with God is your first priority, you are in a better position to serve others and your family.

February has been dubbed the month of

love. As I prepare different Valentine activities

for my students to do, it makes me think about

the love our children have for their family and

friends. They help each other up when they

fall or picking up items that they have

dropped. I have noticed that they are very car-

ing for each other. Their love is unconditional

towards each other. It almost breaks their

hearts when they are told by their friends that

they are not best friends anymore, but with in

a few minutes they are back to being the best

of friends again.

Why We Are Here . . .

First our primary goal is to join you in establishing a faith foundation for your little ones. Secondly, we are delighted to be part of your parental team to assist with character building. Finally, early investment in their lives prepares

them for what is ahead in their future.

The Early Childhood Development Commission shares the following

highlights concerning early investments:

-The foundation of many skills for future jobs are established in the earliest years.

-The brains of young children develop 700 synapses— neural connections that

support learning and skills—every second.

-By age 3, the brain of a child has reached more than 85% of its adult weight;

however, [ the brain is not fully developed until at least the age of 21]

-Difficulties exist for children who start kindergarten 18 months behind their

peers.

We believe your children are precious blessings to society, and we are

grateful to you for choosing our school and daycare.

Love One Another (cont.)

The love that God has for us is the same as I as

child’s love. He loves us no matter what we are

doing and he waits patiently until we turn back

to him. God loves us as we love our children.

Sometimes we need to discipline our children,

he does the same with us when we need it.

John 15:12 states that it is God’s command-ment that we love one another as he has loved us. What is love? How can we display love to our children and others? Love is caring for each other. Have kind words for each other. Gentle pointing out what needs to be changed in our lives. I Corinthian 13:4 says ”Love is pa-tient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” This is how we should be towards the ones we love. During this sea-son, please take the time to reflect on how you

We encourage you to allow Jesus Christ to build a firm founda-tion in your life. To accomplish this consider our ABCs of sal-

vation.

*A—Admit in your heart that you have sinned and come short

of the glory of God ~Romans 3:23

*B—Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shall be

saved! ~Acts 16:31

*C—Confess your sins and He will be faithful and just to for-

give you of your sins . . .1John1:9.

Please let us know if you have accepted Jesus as your per-sonal Savior. We will rejoice with you and provide you with information to start your journey with Him.
