A. He is the Rose of Sharon and the lily of the valleys
*1. The Rose, the most splendid of all flowers
*2. The ornament of life – especially while in the valleys

B. She is a lily among thorns
*Is beautiful for salvation – having the righteousness of Christ
*Is still in the process of sanctification – not yet being perfected and
*Is in the midst of the world of thorns – she must therefore take measures not to be choked by them.

I am going to suggest that:
*The apple represents the Word of God by which we live
*The banqueting house represents the local church where believers find shelter from the world
*The embrace represents the fellowship of the saints which serves to comfort, support and strengthen us in our faith

*Baptism prior to salvation is not appropriate
*Church membership before Scriptural baptism is not appropriate
*Partaking in the Lord’s Supper before membership in a sound local church is not appropriate
