2. 1. So many have shown they care.2. We have elders who care. 3. No Greater LoveJoh 3:16-17 ESV "For God so loved the world, that hegave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shouldnot perish but have eternal life. (17) For God did notsend his Son into the world to condemn the world, butin order that the world might be saved through him.Joh 15:12-14 ESV "This is my commandment, thatyou love one another as I have loved you. (13)Greater love has no one than this, that someone laydown his life for his friends. (14) You are my friends ifyou do what I command you. 4. For the Bible Tells Me So 5. Joh 11:1-7 ESV Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village ofMary and her sister Martha. (2) It was Mary who anointed the Lord withointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill. (3) Sothe sisters sent to him, saying, "Lord, he whom you love is ill." (4) But whenJesus heard it he said, "This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory ofGod, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it." (5) Now Jesus lovedMartha and her sister and Lazarus. (6) So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill,he stayed two days longer in the place where he was. (7) Then after this hesaid to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again." 6. Php 2:6-11 ESV who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equalitywith God a thing to be grasped, (7) but made himself nothing, taking the form ofa servant, being born in the likeness of men. (8) And being found in humanform, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, evendeath on a cross. (9) Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed onhim the name that is above every name, (10) so that at the name of Jesusevery knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, (11) andevery tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 7. Lazarus Had DiedJoh 11:8-16 ESV The disciples said to him, "Rabbi, the Jews were just nowseeking to stone you, and are you going there again?" (9) Jesusanswered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, hedoes not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. (10) But if anyonewalks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him." (11) Aftersaying these things, he said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but Igo to awaken him." (12) The disciples said to him, "Lord, if he has fallenasleep, he will recover." (13) Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but theythought that he meant taking rest in sleep. (14) Then Jesus told them plainly,"Lazarus has died, (15) and for your sake I am glad that I was not there, sothat you may believe. But let us go to him." (16) So Thomas, called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with him." 8. Lord if You had Been HereJoh 11:17-22 ESV Now when Jesus came, he found that Lazarus had alreadybeen in the tomb four days. (18) Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two milesoff, (19) and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console themconcerning their brother. (20) So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house. (21) Marthasaid to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. (22)But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you."Joh 11:32 ESV Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, shefell at his feet, saying to him, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would nothave died." 9. Jesus is the Resurrection and LifeJoh 11:21-26 ESV Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, mybrother would not have died. (22) But even now I know that whatever you askfrom God, God will give you." (23) Jesus said to her, "Your brother will riseagain." (24) Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in theresurrection on the last day." (25) Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection andthe life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, (26) andeveryone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?"1Co 15:20-22 ESV But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, thefirstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. (21) For as by a man came death, bya man has come also the resurrection of the dead. (22) For as in Adam all die,so also in Christ shall all be made alive. 10. I Believe ThatJoh 11:27 ESV She said to him, "Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, theSon of God, who is coming into the world."Mat 10:32-33 ESV So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also willacknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, (33) but whoever denies mebefore men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. 11. JesusWept Joh 11:32-38 ESV Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and sawhim, she fell at his feet, saying to him, "Lord, if you had been here, mybrother would not have died." (33) When Jesus saw her weeping, andthe Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved inhis spirit and greatly troubled. (34) And he said, "Where have you laidhim?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see." (35) Jesus wept. (36)So the Jews said, "See how he loved him!" (37) But some of them said,"Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept thisman from dying?" (38) Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to thetomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.Weeping (klaio) to weep for, mourn for, bewail, one (Thayer)Wept (dakruo) to weep, shed tears 12. Jesus Loves UsRom 5:6-8 ESV For while we were still weak, at theright time Christ died for the ungodly. (7) For one willscarcely die for a righteous person--though perhaps fora good person one would dare even to die-- (8) butGod shows his love for us in that while we were stillsinners, Christ died for us.Heb 2:17-18 ESV Therefore he had to be made(IAI) like his brothers in every respect, so that hemight become a merciful and faithful high priest in theservice of God, to make propitiation for the sins of thepeople. (18) For because he himself has suffered(RAI) when tempted, he is able to help thosewho are being tempted. 13. Jesus Loves UsHeb 4:14-16 ESV Since then we have a great highpriest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, theSon of God, let us hold fast our confession. (15) Forwe do not have a high priest who is unable tosympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in everyrespect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.(16) Let us then with confidence draw near to thethrone of grace, that we may receive mercy and findgrace to help in time of need.He Knows Our Cares1Pe 5:7 ESV casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 14. Take Away the StoneJoh 11:39-44 ESV Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of thedead man, said to him, "Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has beendead four days." (40) Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believedyou would see the glory of God?" (41) So they took away the stone. And Jesuslifted up his eyes and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. (42) Iknew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standingaround, that they may believe that you sent me." (43) When he had said thesethings, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out." (44) The man whohad died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his facewrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."Luk 24:2-5 ESV And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, (3) butwhen they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. (4) While theywere perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel.(5) And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the mensaid to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?
