Description

The course is divided into two parts: 1. Part one will provide some basic concepts used for MSE structure design along with various product applications for facia and reinforcement parts of MSE structure. Maccaferri software MACSTARS-2000 will be distributed and a brief overview of its application will be provided during this part of the course. 2. The second part will be dedicated to showing drapery and fence type rockfall mitigation systems with test and research reports on such practical systems.

Objective The objectives of this short course are to make the participants aware of: 1. Basic concepts related to MSE structure design. 2. Different terminologies used for MSE structures and its parts. 3. What systems are available in the market for MSE structures and how to select a particular system for their requirements. 4. Capabilities and design steps to use MACSTARS-2000 software (participant may need to spend more time with software for proficiency). 5. To show drapery and fence systems as possible alternatives for rockfall mitigation.

Who Should Attend Ideal for engineers, designers, specifiers, and project managers specifically with geotechnical and/or structural engineering background.
