INVESTIGATIONUnit question: Can games educate?

Time allowed: 5 weeks

My client: Lower grade students.

AOI: Community and service. Because we are helping little kids with their education and they can have fun while doing it.

Design brief: I want to show our parents that games can be educational and entertaining at the same time. I need to prove that games aren’t a waste of time and they can help us with our education

Specification and limitation: I will only give the game to the lower grade students because they are my clients. I will have to make my game interesting and educational at the same time

HOW GAMES ARE MADE

It depends on the type of game that you are making. A next generation or current generation game can take 2-5 years (or more) with a lot of people working on it.

If you want to make a game i suggest getting into the gaming community.

Mods (which are basically games) can be between weeks to months to years depending on what you want to achieve (your goal)

New games like 'Call Of Duty World at War' can take up to 5 years or longer to be developed.

INTERVIEW1. What do you think makes a game fun to play with?

2. What are some things that you want to be most interesting in a game? (character, theme, etc.)

3. What games do you think kids will like?

ANSWERS

1. The way it makes you forget about everything else.

2. I think that the most important thing is that the characters are aesthetically pleasing because that will grab your clients’ attention.

3. I think that little kids will enjoy games that requires them to think yet not notice it. For example, lots of little kids like games such as puzzles.
