Job description Job Purpose: This role requires an individual to assist and work across all the Conference Aston commercial and operational departments in a management trainee/apprentice capacity. The role holder will spend time in each business area, including sales, front of house, catering (with supplier Wilson Vale’s management team), quality development/Guest Services and meeting and events services to assist with the service provision of the department, working as part of a team to carry out routine tasks in the Conference Aston hotel and Conference Centres. Reporting to the Quality Development/Guest Services Manager, the role holder will assist the manager to develop and strive for the highest standards in all aspects of the customer journey. The role will engage with the customer pre, post and during service to ascertain satisfaction levels and seek opportunities for excellence in service delivery, across all outlets. Whilst gaining a clear understanding of the management role. In the sales capacity the role holder will gain an understanding of the sales process, event coordination and the associated administrative procedures.

In operational areas the focus will be on meet and greet, the pre event communication elements of the customer journey and the front office services.

This is a developmental role and therefore ongoing training will be provided to enable the post holder to develop the required level of skills.

Main Duties/Responsibilities: • Working with teams to improve customer service – Under the guidance of the QD/GSM developing all

areas of the customer journey to increase positive experiences for guests. Assist with monitoring and solving customer service problems.

• Develop productive working relationships with colleagues – attend daily, weekly and monthly team and management meetings

• Contribute to the control of resources – Understanding via working with departments such as sales and catering/housekeeping operations about resource management

• Contribute to maintaining the health, hygiene, safety and security of the working environment – Time spent in the operational areas of the business, such as catering, housekeeping and building services will help to gain an understanding of these critical elements of the business. Contributing to the promotion of hospitality services and products.

• Undertake reception and front of house duties such as check-in/out, room availability. • Provide learning opportunities for colleagues – Work with the managers to identify training needs

throughout the department and assist in the development of training programmes, administration and delivery.

• Contribute to food production operations and the development of menus or wine lists – During the time with the Wilson Vale catering managers, understanding seasonal and cost based menu options and development
