INTRODUO

MaxxForce 4.3/6.5 a nova denomina-o dos motores 4 e 6 cilindros, respec-tivamente, da antiga Srie 10.Este manual foi desenvolvido de maneiraa fornecer todas informaes necess-rias para garantir a correta operao emanuteno dos motores MaxxForce4.3 e 6.5 de uma maneira simples edireta, garantindo ao motor o seu maiorrendimento com a maior vida til poss-vel, evitando-se desgastes prematurose custos desnecessrios.Os motores MaxxForce possuem diver-sas variaes de aplicaes, portantoas informaes aqui apresentadas sogerais e no abrangem a cada uma dasaplicaes possveis. As informaesconstantes nos manuais dos fabricantesdo equipamento/veculo ao qual o mo-tor est aplicado prevalecem sobre asinformaes constantes neste manual.A MWM INTERNATIONAL Motoresreserva-se o direito de modicar o pro-duto a qualquer momento sem incorrercom isso em nenhuma obrigao paraos produtos anteriormente fornecidos.

INTRODUCTION

MaxxForce 4.3/6.5 is the new deno-mination of 4 and 6 cylinder engines,respectively, from old Series 10.This manual was developed to supply thecustomers with all information in order toprovide the correct operation and main-tenance for the 4.3 and 6.5 MaxxForceengines. Written in a simple and directway, to assure the best performanceand useful life of the engine, avoidingunnecessary expense.MaxxForce engines have several varia-tions for applications. Due to this, theinformation presented in this manualis general and does not intend to covereach possible application. The informa-tion of the equipment / vehicle manu-facturers where the engine is installedprevails over the information containedin this manual.MWM INTERNATIONAL Motores reser-ves the right to change the product at anymoment without obligation to the enginespreviously manufactured.

MaxxForce 4.3/6.5 es la nueva denomi-nacin de los motores 4 y 6 cilindros,respectivamente, de la antigua Serie 10.Este manual fue desarrollado de ma-nera a proveer todas las informacionesnecesarias para garantizar la correctaoperacin y mantenimiento de los mo-tores MaxxForce 4.3 y 6.5 de un modosimple y directo, garantizando su mejorrendimiento con la ms larga vida tilpossible, evitandose desgastes prema-turos y custos desnecesarios.Los motores MaxxForce poseen diversasvariaciones de aplicaciones, por lo tanto,las informaciones aqu presentadas songenerales y no incluen cada una de lasaplicaciones possibles. IMPORTANTE

Use leos lubricantes recomendados; Use somente peas e ltros originais

MWM INTERNATIONAL; Em qualquer irregularidade procure um

revendedor ou servio autorizado MWMINTERNATIONAL. Evite que terceirosfaam algum servio em seu motor, istoanula a garantia;

Antes de iniciar qualquer trabalho nomotor ou conjunto mecnico, certique-se de que o mesmo encontra-se frio,evitando assim queimaduras;

Desligue o cabo negativo da bateriaantes de iniciar o trabalho.

IMPORTANT

Before turn on the engine, carefully read thethe operation and maintenance instructionsand follow them correctly: Use clean and ltered fuel;

Use recommended lubricant oils; Use only genuine MWM INTERNATIO-NAL parts and lters;

In case of a problem, call a MWM IN-TERNATIONAL Dealer or AuthorizedService. Avoid unauthorized servicing inthe engine, which cancels the warranty;

Before beginning any service in theengine, assure it is not hot, in order toavoid burns;

Before beginning any service in theengine, disconnect the battery negativecable.

Ao trabalhar com combustvel,no fumar, no car prximo dechamas ou pontos quentes. Tersempre prximo um extintor deincndio.

Nunca deixar o motor trabalharem rea fechada e no ventilada.Os gases de escape do motor sotxicos e podem ser mortais seinalados.

Ter cuidado para que cabeloslongos, gravatas, vesturio solto, jias, etc., no enganchem empartes mveis ou xas do motorou conjunto mecnico.

No fumar y no quedarse prxi-mo de llama o fuentes de calor,cuando trabajar con combus-tible.Tener siempre un extintor deincendio al lado.

No poner en marcha el motoren lugares cerrados y con pocaventilacin. Los gases de escapecontienen monxido de carbono,gas mortal cuando inhalado.

Tener cuidado con pelo largo,corbatas, joyas, ropa ancha etc.,para que no se enganchen enpartes mviles del motor.

Do not smoke and do not staynear heat sources, while han-dling fuel. Always have a reextinguisher at your side.

Do not start the enginein closed areas without ventila-tion. The exhaust gases containcarbon monoxide, a lethal gaswhen inhaled.

Take special care with longhair, ties, jewels, large suits,etc., in order to not becomeentangled in the moving partsof the engine.

Antes de funcionar o motor, vericar: Nvel do uido de arrefecimento; Nvel de combustvel; Nvel de leo lubri cante; O ltro de ar quanto a impurezas e

obstrues.

FUNCIONAMIENTO

Antes de funcionar el motor, vericar: Nivel del uido refrigerante; Nivel de combustible; Nivel de aceite lubricante; El ltro de aire cuanto a impurezas

y obstruciones.

STARTING

Before starting the engine, check: Coolant level; Fuel level; Lubricant oil level; The air lter cleanliness.For turbocharged engines, which havebeen inactive for more than a week,crank the engine, pulling out the fuel shutoff control (to prevent starting) in orderto pre-lubricate the turbocharger. Pushback fuel shut off control.Set the throttle at 2/3 of its stroke. Crank

the engine until it res (max.) 7 seconds.If the engine does not re, wait 30 / 60seconds before re-cranking, to allowbattery recovery.DO NOT ACCELERATE EXCESSIVELYDURING THE FIRST 30 SECONDS OFOPERATION.

Never turn the ignition switch to start

position while the engine is running.Do not turn off the turbocharged engineduring high-speed operation. Wait 30seconds at idle before shutting off.

En el caso de motores turboalimen-tadosparados por ms de una semana, sedebe accionar el motor de arranque du-rante 7 segundos com el estran-guladorcerrado (para que el motor no arranque)con el objetivo de lubricar previamentela turbina. Desconectar luego el estran-gulador.Colocar el acelerador en 2/3 de su carre-ra. Accionar el motor de arranque hastaque el motor entre en funcionamiento(mx.) 7 segundos.Si el motor no arranca, esperar 30/60segundos antes de accionar nuevamenteel motor de arranque para permitir quela bateria se recupere.NO ACELERE EN FORMA EXCESIVADURANTE LOS PRIMEROS 30 SE- GUNDOS DE FUNCIONAMIENTO.

Nunca gire la llave en el interruptor departida mientras el motor est funcio-nando.No desligue el motor turboalimentadoen alta rotacin. Espere 30 segundosen ralenti antes de desligarlo.

Em motores turboalimentados inativospor mais de uma semana, dar partidapor 7 segundos com o estranguladoracionado (para que o motor no pegue)am de pr-lubricar o turbo. Desligar oestrangulador.

Colocar o acelerador em 2/3 de seucurso. Acionar a partida at o motorpegar (mx.) 7 segundos.Se no pegar aguarde 30/60 segundosantes de acionar a partida novamente,para permitir a recuperao da bateria.NO ACELERE EXCESSIVAMENTENOS PRIMEIROS 30 SEGUNDOS DEFUNCIONAMENTO.Nunca gire a chave de partida com omotor funcionando.No desligue o motor turboalimentadoem alta rotao. Aguarde 30 segundosem marcha lenta antes de deslig-lo.

em baixas rotaes; Aguarde o motor atingir a tempera-

tura normal de funcionamento paraoper-lo em servio; Evitar ultrapassar (75%) da carga

mxima do equipamento;

PERODO DE PRE-RODAJE = LOSPRIMEROS 2000 KM O 50 H DE TRA-BAJO DEL MOTOR

La marcha moderada, sin someter el mo-tor a la potencia mxima durante el pe-riodo de ablandamiento, reete en mayordurabilidad, seguridad, y economia.Recomendaciones durante el periodode ablandamiento: Observar atentamente si el nivel de

aceite del motor est correcto;

Observar atentamente si el nivel deuido de enfriamento est correcto; Evitar operar el motor a altas rotacio-

nes; Evitar operar el motor continuamente

a rotaciones bajas; Aguarde el motor llegar a la tempe-

ratura normal de trabajo para operarl mismo en servicio;

Evitar pasar de (75 %) de la cargamxima del motor;

ENGINE RUNNING-IN PERIOD

RUNNING-IN PERIOD = THE FIRST2.000 KM or 50 Hours OF ENGINEOPERATION.

Smooth operation, without running at fullload during the running-in period, reectsin a bigger durability, engine safety andeconomy.Recommendations for engine operationduring the running-in period:

Assure the engine oil level is correct; Assure the cooling system level is

correct; Avoid running at max. rated speeds; Avoid lugging the engine at low speed; Wait the engine reach the work tem-

perature before start its service; Avoid loading beyond (75%) of the

maximum rating;

Evitar submeter o motor, em rotaes constantes por perodos prolonga-dos;

No deixar o motor funcionando em marcha lenta por muito tempo;

Em caso de motores estacionarios, recomendamos la aplicacin de 50,75 y 100% de la caraga en forma gradual.

VERIFICAO DA BOMBA DE GUA

Observar atentamente o furo de inspe-o, na lateral esquerda do bloco (vistopelo volante).Se houver indcios de gua ou leo

sinal de vazamento da bomba dguaou dos anis de vedao. Neste caso,leve o motor a um revendedor ou servioautorizado MWM INTERNATIONAL paraefetuar a substituio do componente.

VERIFICACIN DE LA BOMBA DEAGUA

Observar el agujero de inspeccin en ellado izquierdo del bloque del motor (vistopor el lado del volante).

Cualquier escape de gua o aceite signi-ca falla en el sello de la bomba de agua,o en los anillos selladores. En ese caso,llevar el motor a un revendedor o servicioautorizado MWM INTERNATIONAL pararealizar la sustituicin del componente.

WATER PUMP CHECK

Look through the inspection hole on theleft side of the block (ywheel view). Anyleak of coolant or lubricant oil means thatthe water pump seal or O-ring failed.

In this case, take the engine to a MWMINTERNATIONAL Dealer or AuthorizedService to replace the component.

LIMPEZA DO SISTEMA DEARREFECIMENTO

Remover a tampa do radiador e escoaro uido atravs do bujo localizado nalateral direita do bloco (visto do volante) eda torneira existente na base do radiador(se houver).Reinstalar o bujo. Reabas-tecer o sistema com gua limpa adicio-nando o aditivo genuno MWM INTER-NATIONAL nas propores recomenda-das na embalagem. Colocar a tampa doradiador e funcionar o motor at atingira temperatura normal de funcionamento.Pare o motor e verique o nvel, adicio-nar gua + ADITIVO, se necessrio.

LIMPIEZA DEL SISTEMA DEENFRIAMENTO

Remover la tapa del radiador y drenarel liquido de enfriamento por el tapn (oespita) que est en el lado derecho delbloque del motor (visto por el lado delvolante) y por el toque existente en labase del radiador (si lo hubiere). Reponerel tapn y cerrar las espitas. Llenar elsistema con agua limpia, aadindose eladitivo genuno MWM INTERNATIONALen las proporciones recomendadas en laembalaje. Colocar la tapa en el radiador yponer el motor en marcha hasta llegar ala temperatura normal de funcionamien-to. Parar el motor y vericar el nivel. Sies necesrio, aadir agua + ADITIVO.

COOLING SYSTEM CLEANING

Remove radiator cap and drain thecoolant through plug (or tap) locatedon the right side of the block (ywheelside view) and through the tap at thebase of the radiator (if exists). Flush thesystem thoroughly. Reinstall the plugsand close taps. Rell the system withclean water + genuine MWM INTER-NATIONAL additive in the proportionsrecommended on its bottle. Replaceradiator cap and turn on the engine untilit get the normal work temperature. Turnoff the engine and check the coolingsystem level. If necessary, add water

with addtive. As passagens de ar entre as

COOLING FLUID ADDITIVES

En motores usados, antes de colocaranticongelante por la primera vez, lavarcon agua todo el sistema de enfriamientoy vericar su estanqueidad.Llenar el radiador con la cantidad ne-cesaria de anticongelante y completarcon agua limpia. Colocar el motor enfuncionamiento hasta atingir la tempe-ratura normal de trabajo. Completar elnivel del radiador con agua adictivadacon el anticongelante.

ANTIFREEZE - USAGE

In used engines, before using antifre-eze for the rst time, it is necessary tothoroughly ush the cooling system andcheck for leakage.

Fill the radiator with the necessary quan-tity of antifreeze and complete with cleanwater. Start the engine and run until nor-mal operating temperature is achieved.Check the coolant level and add water/ antifreeze as required.

VERIFICAO DO NVEL DE LEOLUBRIFICANTE

O motor deve estar nivelado e paradopor aproximadamente 10 minutos. Antesde remover a vareta medidora de nvel,limpar as reas ao redor do bocal deabastecimento e vareta.Estando o nvel entre o mximo eo mnimo, o motor pode operar normal-mente. Entretanto, para uma maior au-tonomia antes da prxima manutenopreventiva, recomendamos completarat a marca superior (MXIMO), semultrapass-la, e no operar o motor abai-xo da marca inferior (MNIMO).

VERIFICACIN DEL NIVEL DELACEITE LUBRICANTE

El motor debe estar nivelado y paradopor aproximadamente 10 minutos. Antesde sacar la varilla de medir el nivel, lim-piar alrededor de la varilla y de la tapapor donde se aade el aceite lubricante.Estando el nivel entre el mximo y elmnimo, el motor puede funcionar nor-malmente. Sin embargo, para una mayorautonoma antes de la prxima manuten-cin preventiva, recomendamos llenarhasta la marca superior (MXIMO), sinsuperarla, y no funcionar el motor abajode la marca inferior (MNIMO).

LUBRICANT OIL LEVEL CHECK

The engine must not be inclined andmust be turned off about 10 minutes.Before removing the dipstick, clean thearea around the ller opening.

If the oil level is between the maximumand the minimum marks, the enginecan operate normally. However, toachieve the best autonomy before thenext preventive maintenance, we recom-mend to keep the oil level in the top mark(MAXIMUM), do not overcome it, and donot operate the engine below the lowermark (MINIMUM).

LAVAGEM DEL FILTRO DE AIRE SOLAMENTE MOTORES MARTIMOS

Quite el ltro de aire del motor, tenien-do el debido cuidado para no daarlo.Proteger la entrada de aire para impedirla entrada de impurezas en el motor.Lavar el ltro de aire con aceite dieselcomn, hasta eliminar todo el polvo y lasimpurezas. Enjuagar el ltro de aire conagua limpia. Pulverizar aceite lubricante(el mismo aceite lubricante utilizado enel motor) en el conjunto del ltro, o si nohay una pistola, sumerja el ltro de aireen un recipiente de aceite, entoncesagtelo para eliminar el exceso. Quite laproteccin utilizada para evitar la entra-da de impurezas en el motor. Vuelva ainstalar el ltro de aire.

WASHING THE AIR FILTER ONLYMARITIME APPLICATIONS

Remove the air lter from the engine,taking the due care to do not damage it.Protect the air entrance to prevent theentry of impurities into the engine. Washthe air lter with common oil diesel, untilremove all the dust and impurities. Rinsethe air lter with clean water. Pulverizelubricant oil (the same lubricant oil usedin the engine) on the whole lter, or ifthere is not a spray gun, dip the air lterinto a bowl of oil then shake it to removethe excess. Remove the protection usedto prevent the entry of impurities into theengine. Reinstall the air lter.

LAVAGEM DO FILTRO DE AR APENAS MOTORES MARTIMOS

Retirar o ltro de ar do motor, tomando odevido cuidado de no danic-lo. Pro-teger a entrada da admisso de ar paraque impurezas no entrem para dentrodo motor. Lavar o ltro de ar com leodiesel comum, at remover toda a poeirae impurezas. Enxaguar o ltro com gualimpa. Pulverizar leo lubrificante (omesmo do motor) sobre toda a superfcieltrante, ou se no houver pistola pulve-rizadora, imergir o ltro em uma vasilhacom leo lubricante e depois sacudi-lopara tirar o excesso. Retire a proteousada para evitar a entrada de impure-zas e objetos estranhos. Reinstale o ltro.

No funcione o motor sem o ltrode ar instalado corretamente.

CAMBIO DEL ACEITE LUBRICANTEY FILTRO

Drenar el aceite con el motor en la tem-peratura normal de marcha, retirando eltapn y el ltro.

Esperar hasta dejar de salir aceite. Re-poner el tapn observando el estado dela arandela. Apretar con 6 a 6,5 mkgf.Limpiar aceite y suciedad del lugardonde va el ltro con un pao que nodeje hilos.Lubricar la goma del ltro con un pocode aceite. Roscar el ltro con la manohasta el tope. Apretar ms media vuelta.

LUBRICANT OIL AND FILTERCHANGE

Remove plug and lter, drain oil at normalengine operating temperature.Wait until oil draining stops. Replace

the plug observing washer condition.Tighten to a torque of 6 to 6,5 mkgf.(44-47 ft.lb.).Remove oil and dirt from lter head witha clean rag with no loose threads.Oil lter gasket slightly. Screw lter manu-ally until gasket stops against lter head.Tighten another half turn.

TROCA DO LEO LUBRIFICANTE EFILTRO

Drenar o leo com o motor na tempera-tura normal de operao, retirando-se obujo, arruela e o ltro de leo.

Esperar at parar de sair leo. Reco-locar o bujo com uma nova arruela.Apertar com 6 a 6,5 mkgf.Limpar a rea de vedao do cabeotedo ltro com um pano sem apos e limpo.Lubricar levemente a junta do ltro. Ros-quear o ltro manualmente at o encosto.Apertar novamente mais meia volta.

Usar sempre ltro de leo original. Com o motor nivelado, abastea

com leo novo. O nvel devealcanar a marca superior davareta, sem ultrapass-la.

Usar leo lubricante que atendaas especicaes recomendadas

pelo fabricante.

Use siempre ltro de aceite au-tntico.

Con el motor nivelado, aadaaceite nuevo, el nivel debe alcan-zar la marca superior de la varilla.

O leo Diesel a ser utilizado nos motoresMWM INTERNATIONAL, deve aten-der Norma brasileira ANP no 32, de16.10.2007 DOU 17.10.2007.

O Ponto de Nvoa (incio de segre-gaode parana) deve estar abaixo da tem-peratura ambiente e o ndice de cetanono deve ser inferior a 46.Em temperatura ambiente muito baixa(em geral abaixo de +1C), quandoocorre a segregao de parana, ad-missvel adicionar at 50% em volumede querosene ao leo Diesel.

Para obter uma mistura homognea, aoefetuar o reabastecimento, colocar pri-meiro o querosene devido ao seu menorpeso especco e em seguida colocar oleo Diesel.O motor deve operar com esta misturasomente nos perodos de baixa tempera-tura, no se justicando para as demaissituaes.

DIESEL FUEL

The oil Diesel used at MWM INTER-NATIONAL engines, must meet thebrazilian Standard ANP n 32, issued in16.10.2007 DOU 17.10.2007.

The Cloud Point (start of parafn preci-pitation) must be under any operatingtemperature and the cetane numbershould not be lower than 46.At very low temperatures, generallyunder + 1C (34F), when parafn preci-pitates, 50% by volume of kerosene canbe added to the Diesel fuel to preventclogging.

In order to obtain a homogeneous mixtu-re, when relling, rst add the kerosene,due to its lower specic gravity, and thencomplete with Diesel fuel.The engine must operate with this mix-ture only at low temperatures, beingunadvisable for other conditions.

ACEITE DIESEL
