'Wrens prepare for Northern Premier League with Great
Season Ticket Discounts’
Celebrate Your Local Team Success
Rainworth Miners' Welfare Football Club is preparing to compete next season at
their highest level ever, following their promotion to Division One South of the Northern Premier League.
The Wrens, whose nickname comes from the popular local pronunciation of the
village name, finished runners-up to Bridlington Town in their first season in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division last season, to secure their second successive promotion and their third in five years since the arrival as manager of local celebrity Rudy Funk.
Now, at long last, the club has emerged from the shadow of that famous
achievement in 1982 when, as a humble Nott's Alliance club, they reached the Wembley final of the FA Vase. They will now be plying their trade in the fourth tier of English non-League football, just three divisions below neighbours Mansfield Town.
Average attendances at the Kirklington Road Stadium in the season just ended
were 100, but a large proportion of that support came from outside the village community. So club officials are calling on Rainworth people to get behind and back their own local club and they are offering a wonderful deal to entice the local populace through the gates at Kirklington Road.
Admission charges in the new league will be £6, with concessions at £3. But the
Wrens are offering season tickets at £80 (£40 concessions), which represents a massive saving over the 21 home league matches, (if all league matches are attended), of £46 (£23).
So why go out of the village for your football? Support and be proud of your local team? For further details or to obtain your season ticket contact club secretary Les
Lee on 01623 490053 or 07740 576958. UP THE WRENS!

Welcome to the July/August 2010 edition
of the Rainworth Reporter
This edition is packed with lots of local news and information. Thank you to all our loyal and regular advertisers, without you we would not be able to offer this support to our village residents.
Although we stand as an independent, non-political newsletter we get asked so many questions regarding various local issues including; the incinerator, the wind turbines, the swimming pool and the various regeneration programmes currently being considered; including the Lindhurst Scheme by the Mansfield D.C. (see www.mansfield.gov.uk/lindhurst consultation).
Previously we have avoided political/sensitive issues, but we now recognise as a community newsletter you want to know what is happening. Therefore we are going to provide as much information as possible regarding these concerns in our village, over the next few months. . However, I am only the messenger and please if you have any issues, complaints or concerns do not write to me as all contact details will be given for the relevant people. Got any questions, please either email me or place on the comments section of our blog on www.rainworthreporter.wordpress.com and we will try to find the answer and print in the next newsletter.
We have taken a brave decision to take the above on board so we trust that you will respect us for this. My view is only that I want a stronger support system in place for everyone in Rainworth, more opportunities for our local businesses, a better chance for our young and a more caring community for the lonely and the elderly. Full stop. C/O Diane Carter. Editor Marathon Media Thank you

Police News Rainworth: Now the warmer weather is upon us, the young people are gathering at various ven-ues to socialise. Sadly, we have seen an increase in juveniles being sold alcohol in outlets around both Blidworth & Rainworth. We are keen to continue these operations and will act robustly due to the connection of young persons committing criminal activi-ties when under the influence of alcohol. At 5.30pm on Friday 30th April 2010 PCSO's Walker, Arins and Sue Miller, (Anti Social Behaviour Officer) seized alcohol from an adult male on Preston Road who had just been given £10 payment together with the cost for the alcohol in order to enter an off licence and purchase alcohol for 2 juvenile females. All three persons were issued with stop forms and checks were made within the store to ensure ID checks were carried out of the driver. The driver of this vehicle later admitted to myself in interview that he had been paid by the juveniles to supply the alcohol and had done this many times due to being paid for the task in hand! He was later out of pocket by being issued with an £80 fixed penalty notice for this offence. I previously reported that the Anti Social Behaviour Officer; Sue Miller, together with the Blidworth & Rainworth Beat Team had been conducting street consultations and door to door visits along Rufford Road, Lime Tree Place and Birch Avenue, Rainworth. The young offenders identified have been interviewed and dealt with by a police record and 6 month acceptable behaviour contracts. The evaluation letter is being delivered by hand to residents today (Sunday 23rd may 2010). I am confident that the anti social behaviour issues and the damage to residents fences have ceased but I encourage your feedback when we revisit your area. We are experiencing increased levels of anti social behaviour on Preston Road and the surrounding areas once again. The latest incident was at 02:30 am this morning (Sunday 23rd May 2010) where numerous young persons were drinking alcohol and smashing bottles about. This includes littering and groups of young persons intimidat-ing residents and shop owners. Please do report any incidents on the following num-ber as without your support we cannot analyse where to focus our presence. 0300 300 99 99. We have changed our shift patterns to police this ongoing trend and welcome your thoughts on specific times and days when areas are targeted. Now that we have completed the consultation process on Rufford Avenue and sur-rounding areas, Sue Miller, ASBO, PCSO Deb Walker and I, will be organising a street consultation within the Preston Road and surrounding area, in order to focus on your concerns. Please look out for the letter which we will be delivering through your door and please spend a few minutes completing the three questions asked of you. We will then collect the letters 2 weeks after the date delivered and begin the process of targeting those areas you have highlighted. This is not a quick fix but a slow and ongoing process which I am confident will reduce the anti social activity and increase public confidence once again. We targeted this area in 2008 with a huge amount of success and I aim to restore the balance to what we achieved back then. This area will be focussed on for a minimum of 3 months taking us into the summer period. There has been a rise in burglaries within the cluster area of Sherwood and whilst we are fortunate enough not to have suffered any burglaries within Blidworth & Rainworth, please do not become complacent by leaving doors and windows insecure. If you spot anyone acting suspiciously or do not recognise individuals within the area you live then please contact us on 0300 300 99 99 or alternatively if you feel you need to contact us urgently, then please ring 999. We will never criticise your concerns and will always welcome any information that help to keep our communities safe. Thank you for your time once again, I will be available on the contact numbers and email below alternatively please ring 0300 300 99 99 to report any non urgent inci-dents. Local Associate Priest Due to Retire
Beryl Allsop, Associate Priest at the churches of St Mary of
the Purification, Blidworth and St Simon & St Jude’s,
Rainworth is retiring at the end of June.
She has been ―vicar‖ in the village for over nine years and has
become a familiar figure in Blidworth and Rainworth, becoming
involved in many aspects of community life. Possessing a gift for
working with children she not only occupies Thursday evenings with
the ―Jesus and Me‖ (JAM) club but is also a governor at Blidworth
Oaks School and a Guide leader. She engages with adults and young
people with learning difficulties at ―Faith and Light‖ at Rainworth,
and is active in initiatives such as ―Churches Together‖ whereby
different denominations plan joint events to develop closer
relationships between them.
I had very unusual parents: they never went into debt.
Let me say that again as it is hard to believe; they never had a car loan,
a mortgage or any other form of debt in their lives. Not getting mar-
ried until well into their 30‘s meant that their joint savings allowed
them to buy their first house with cash – nothing grand, just a terraced house with a cellar. Everything else was then saved up for. If my sister
and I wanted something we had to save up for it - no advances on
packet money. When I was given an autograph book by some well-
meaning relative one Christmas, Dad wrote in it ‗Look after the pen-
nies and the pounds will look after themselves‘.
I know that I am lucky. I was able to go to University with my tuition
paid for, with Local Authority grants to live on, and left with about £10
in my bank account but no student loan to pay off. Young people to-
day have no alternative if they want further qualifications, but to go
into debt (unless their families can afford to subsidise them). In my
first job I was saving up for a deposit on a house, today I would have
been paying off thousands of pounds of loans.
Forcing young people into debt has been, and still is, Government pol-
icy. As we now realise, the whole of our economy has been built up
by borrowing, it has become an accepted and essential part of our
culture. As a country we owe billions and now we have to start paying
it back. The first cuts have been announced, more will come in a few
weeks, more will come in the Autumn and even more will come in
each of the next few years. My parents‘ ideas may have been boring
but they did avoid a lot of trouble.
What can the churches do? Firstly, we have an alternative to the
‗borrow and spend‘ culture. We have a gospel which proclaims that
you are loved by God whether you have the latest fashion or gadget
or not; that says that giving and sharing are much more important than
keeping and possessing. It is a gospel that says that the person you
are, is infinitely more valuable than the stuff you have accumulated.
This isn‘t a judgemental ‗We told you so‘, but an alternative to the
consumer society. However, this is not all.
Public Services will be affected and others will be expected to pick up
the pieces. Churches are one of the community groups that people will look to. Already, the Sherwood Forest Community Church has
the Money Advice Centre and the Turnaround shops. But I am sure
that there are other things we can do and should do. So, over the
next few months, as services are cut, what could the local churches be
doing to help. Please let us know.
Article C/O David Greenwood (01623 491474)
On a more functional level there have been several
improvements to St Mary‘s during her time here
including the installation of a toilet, decorating, re-
wiring and fitting a loop system for the hard of
hearing. However the people who have met her in
the course of her duties will remember her as a
warm, friendly and easily approachable person who
puts them at ease in what can sometimes be difficult
or stressful situations.
Never a person to sit around, plans for retirement
include ongoing work on her home, getting to grips
with craft activities that she has not mastered and
of course spending more time with her grandchil-
dren.

Update on the Energy Recovery Facility on the Former Rufford Colliery Site c/o Veolia
―Veolia ES Nottinghamshire has recently written to the Planning Inspectorate to confirm to them that we wish to proceed with the Inquiry into our plans for an Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) at the former Rufford colliery site. Following recent meetings with other stakeholders, the additional ecological assessment work requested will be undertaken in the next few months and this will be put into the public domain prior to the reconvened Inquiry. Since early 2006, we have worked very closely with Nottinghamshire County Council and the Rainworth community to deliver a multi-million pound Energy Recovery Facility on the former Rufford colliery site. The facility will divert Nottinghamshire‘s residual waste away from landfill and deliver huge economic investment and new jobs to the Rainworth area. We are very much looking forward to reconvening at the Public Inquiry on 28th September to continue to work through the planning and legal process to achieve this. Article C/O Amy Roberts Waste Awareness Officer. Veolia Environmental Services Nottinghamshire Ltd. Unit 4, Chase Park, Daleside Road, Nottingham, NG2 4GT. www.veolia.co.uk/nottinghamshire
Inspector gives Veolia one last chance C/O P.A.I.N. Campaign At the Pre-Inquiry Meeting held on Monday (7th June 2010) at
the Rainworth Village Hall the Planning Inspector, Mr. Rupert Grantham, granted Veolia a final opportunity to provide additional evidence to the Inquiry into proposals for a Sherwood Forest incinerator. Veolia now have until the end of July to circulate a shadow appropriate assessment of the potential impacts of building and operating a waste incinerator on the Greenfield site owned by UK Coal. The site, once a car park servicing the former Rufford Colliery in Rainworth, near Mansfield, is currently a nesting site for endangered birds. Surveys carried out this year show four breeding areas for woodlark and nightjar in and around Veolia‘s application site, strengthening the case for declaring it part of a Sherwood Forest Special Protection Area (SPA). Veolia has so far failed to provide evidence that would rule out significant adverse effects on the integrity of the potential SPA. To date Veolia have not been able to agree a methodology or a definitive list of sites to be included in any assessment with either Natural England or the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. The Inspector has now set a strict deadline for the assessment, warning Veolia that failure to rule out adverse effects could mean that the Secretary of State would refuse planning permission for Veolia‘s incinerator proposal for this reason alone. Both Natural England and the Wildlife Trust agreed to continue to assist Veolia by supplying information, and by continuing to seek agreement regarding the scope of the assessment. It remained unclear how Veolia would be able to meet the deadline, and there was disagreement that their report would be sufficient. The Pre-Inquiry Meeting also confirmed that People Against Incineration (PAIN) will be allowed to submit further evidence arising from the release of previously redacted portions of the £850 million waste contract between Veolia and Nottinghamshire County Council. Veolia‘s report is due to be released by the end of July, with Statements of Common Ground to be agreed by 6th August. Any new Proofs of Evidence will need to be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate no later than 10th September, to enable the Inquiry to resume on Tuesday 28th September when Natural England are expected to give their evidence and be cross examined. Spring Brings
Pain!
At this time of year the receptionist at the
Mansfield Chiropractic Clinic usually gets
swamped with people seeking an
immediate appointment. The conditions,
almost every one, are lower back pain. The
given causes are remarkably similar: ―I was
only digging out the weeds…
raking...moving the lawn…‖
The sudden burst of sunshine will tempt many into their first bout of manual work for
months; to trim back the ravages of winter and those all gales.
―Sadly this happens year after year‖ say local chiropractor Thomas Jeppesen of 20 St John
Street, Mansfield. ―It is very important to look after your back, especially when undertaking a
form of exercise that you are not used to. If you want to stop gardening back pain and be
able to appreciate all the hard work the next day, then follow these top ten tips:
Gently stretch your muscles and ligaments for a few minutes before and after gardening; but
don‘t bend down and touch your toes – this can cause damage. Wear light but warm clothes and make sure your back is covered at all times. Kneel on one led rather than bending your back repeatedly. Use long handled tools to prune tall plants. Use only a small spade/form for digging and keep your back gently hollowed. Do not always work to one side, vary your position. Don‘t do the same task for long period, vary your tasks. Keep your back straight when carrying. When finished have a hot bath or shower. Do not sit for too long in your favourite armchair afterwards. Stand up and regularly walk
around.

GARDENING TIPS We are all out there enjoying the sun. Gardens are looking great but a few jobs to keep in mind!
Watering – water early morning or late afternoon, droplets on the lawn, flowers or foliage can cause scorching in the mid day sun.
Remember water needs to go deep down to the roots. A good soaking once or twice a week is more beneficial than a light dusting
every day. If putting in new plants soak well in a bucket before planting
Tubs/Pots – same applies for these. In this heat baskets and pots will require regular watering once or even twice a day. A liquid
feed should be applied to keep plants in top condition
Ponds – need a general check. If algae appear remove
immediately. Ensure oxygenating plants are still there and
add more if required. If warm weather is causing
evaporation be careful to top up slowly – if too much water
is added in one go the temperature may drop.
Fruits – if like me you grow your own strawberries feed
them with a liquid fertilizer high in potassium. Try to pick
ripe fruits with the crown attached, the fruit will last longer
and the plants less prone to infection. Remove straight
suckers from fruit trees.
General – fertilize borders and hedges. Although lawns
need mowing, leave slightly long as the heat will scorch
short turf. Roses need dead heading and a feed. Remove
flowers from perennials when past their best as a second
flowering could be achieved.

OFFER 3RD WHEELIE BIN!
Newark and Sherwood District

Hello Everyone, my name is Rebecca Hall and I am 17 years old. I am currently studying English Language,

Festival Fever — From Glastonbury and Bestival to T4 on the beach and V - festival dressing is about one
thing: preparation, preparation, preparation. This edition I have searched the high street for perfect and affordable festival gear.
A Few Tips — Make like Kate Bosworth, Camille Belle and Rosie Huntington-Whitely at Coachella - while the sun is shining, indulge in jazzy, geometric and bold prints. In case of downpours and mudslides, pack a Peruvian poncho, or a favourite for this summer – an Eva Nip canvas hood. Accessories should be hardy but lightweight. Fit to work? What every
employer needs to know
From April 6th 2010 the current ‗sick note‘
has been replaced with a ‗fit note‘. The new system entitled ‗Statement of
Fitness for Work‘ has been introduced by the Government to try and tackle
absenteeism problems, which cost the UK economy an estimated £100bn a
year. Employment lawyer, Phillip Harding, of Tallents Solicitors in Newark,
comments,
“Previously GPs could only comment that an employee was „unfit for work‟ but under
the new rules the doctor can comment that the individual may „not be fit for work‟ or
„may be fit for work and may set out comment to assist in a return to work‟. This
means that GPs can advise employers of the employee‟s ability to return to work
under certain conditions, such as temporary working arrangements.”
The HSE estimates that 32.9m working days are lost annually from people
taking time off because of illness. This new system will help people return to
work more quickly, relieving the associated business pressures like overtime
for staff covering for absent employees, lost production time or missed
deadlines. Phillip continues,
“The doctor can now comment on how the patient‟s medical condition will impact
upon their ability to carry out their working responsibilities and also help the
employee and employer engage in a discussion about how the employee can
gradually resume their previous role.
This may entail a phased return to work, changes to duties or working hours or
possibly physical changes to the workplace itself.”
Employers are not legally bound to comply with the doctor‘s
recommendations but they must be careful not to fall foul of the Disability
Discrimination Act, so it is wise to seek legal advice if unsure of what to do.
Also, the changes do not replace the role of occupational health advisers in
the workplace. Phillip finishes, “The new system is not designed to force people to
return to work before they are ready but rather to encourage sick employees to
speak to both their doctors and employers about how they can effectively return to
work with the emphasis on what they can do, rather than what they can‟t. ”
Tallents can advise both employees and employers on their rights and legal
position regarding the new ‗fit note‘ system. Contact Phillip on 01636 671881
to arrange an appointment.

CHILD BENEFITS & TAX CREDITS
There is a lot of information available from the government web sites, but you do have to look around and be patient to get the information you require.
Useful numbers and web sites run by HMRC are Phone 0845 300 3900 (this line is busiest between 9-30am and 2-30pm and after 4-00pm Text phone 0845 300 3909 Web site http://www.direct.gov.uk/tax credits Use your internet browser (Google) and put in tax credits Working Tax calculator see: www.workingfamilies.org.uk HMRC tax credits – Do I qualify – www.taxcredits.hmrc.gov.uk
You can employ people to act as advisers. These people require the completion of an authorisation notice – TC689 - This covers relatives, friends, employers and 3rd party organisations (which are registered) such as Citizens Advice – not accountants
My advice is: Keep a file and notes of times, dates and the identification of any person you have spoken to,
together with as much confirmation as possible. Copy any forms/correspondence you may have completed and sent. Make sure you keep
notes/letters you may have as a follow up to that particular form/letter. Speak to 3rd parties if you are unhappy with advice given, use people like Citizens Advice as
they are trained in this type of thing and may even direct you to other sources of information. Make sure you inform the relevant people of any changes whatsoever as soon as possible. If
not before. If you have an accountant, although they are not covered by the TC689, include them in the
completion of the forms, as doubtless they will need to supply financial information if they act for you.
Have your file/information ready if you make a call to the Revenue – such as any identifying references together with current information regarding income for yourself and your partner if you have one – details of any benefits you may currently have together with any which have just stopped – your usual number of working hours – the average amount you spend each week on childcare (which has to be from a registered supplier)
Best of luck and fingers crossed that the new government gives us the help we need when we need it.

The Hard Facts
Time was when you started work at 16, worked till State Retirement age and
finally retired to live happily on your pension. Now we are all living longer and
retirement is more complicated. Many people are considering working past
retirement age: some because they want to, some because they have to.
A common question is ‗Do I have to take my retirement income all at once?‘
Well it‘s entirely up to you. You may wish to take the tax-free cash and delay
taking income or you may wish to take just a portion of the available income.
There are now over 10 options for today‘s retiree! Make sure you know
what these are before making any decisions
In today‘s retirement market, 9 out of 10 people buy a lifetime annuity from
their existing pension provider without exploring their ―Open Market Option‘
and miss increasing their increasing their income by up to 40%
In April 2010 the minimum pension age rose to 55 years and State Pension
for Women is moving from age 60yrs to 65yrs in 2020 – do you know your
entitlement to State Pension?
If you think you will be affected by these changes, or wish to discuss how on track
your pension is, please contact:

A Starry Night at The Joseph Whitaker School
The recent Joseph Whitaker School‘s 2010 Year 11 Achievement Evening was a sparkling success, thanks to the hard work and achievements of our pupils... and two very popular guest presenters!
Twiggy and Emma, hosts of the Radio Trent FM Breakfast Show, joined members of staff along with Head Boy; Laurence Russell and Deputy Head Girl Grace Lowe on the stage to present pupils with their Record of Achievement. Dozens of pupils also received special Faculty Awards; The Derrick Newey Award, The Headmasters Award and The Governors‘ Award, which reflected their efforts in academic areas, their individual contributions to the school and extra-curricular achievements.
Awards were also presented for 100% attendance and outstanding representatives for each Year Group.
Special guests Twiggy and Emma were so impressed with our students‘ successes, effort and presentation on the night that they mentioned the school several times on their show the following morning, describing our students as ‗fantastic.‘
Guest presenter Twiggy said: ‗Having struggled myself at school and chosen to do things the hard way, it‘s great to see so many young people at The Joseph Whitaker School doing things the right way.
‗The level of achievement we have seen tonight is fantastic. We have visited a few schools where we weren‘t sure about their ethos, but the atmosphere at The Joseph Whitaker School is brilliant.
‗We were made to feel welcome by all the staff and students from the moment we walked through the doors.‘
Headmaster John Loughton said: ―It really was a fabulous evening. I am very grateful to Twiggy and Emma for taking the time to come to the school and for making the evening special with their particular and infectious brand of humour. It really was good of them to spend so long with us, particularly as I know what time they have to start work on the breakfast show. I am biased, but I endorse entirely Twiggy‘s view of the school. Our young people are exceptional and their achievements should receive fulsome recognition. It was an evening they deserved and will remember for the rest of their lives.‖ Article C/O Joseph Whitaker School PR Department.

So many things to look at
So many things to share
Magic could help me listen

Want to Lose Weight ? This is the time of year when suddenly we may
realize that a few pounds or more have sneaked on! There are various remedies out there to assist with losing weight including;
special diets, various weight loss support groups and exercise programmes, DVDs, etc. It can all be confusing and do they work?
We spoke to one of our regular advertisers and NNN members: Margaret Turner who offers alternative
remedies for people who are fed up with dieting but want to lose weight permanently.
Margaret stated “Our methods are unique as they help to change our client‘s relationship with food, enabling them to
effortlessly lose weight, become the size and shape they desire and then stay in control of their eating. Our methods retrain the
subconscious mind, which is the part of the mind that holds all our habitual patterns of behaviour and food related beliefs.
Whilst having the treatment, our clients also start to feel physically more relaxed, mentally calmer and, so much more confident within themselves‖.
Do these techniques last though Margaret as so many people lose weight only to put it back on again?
When people go on diets they are restricted in what they can eat and sometimes feel deprived of the food they love, maybe it is
biscuits, cake or chocolate. Because they feel deprived it‘s easy to go back to the bad habits and the yo-yo process starts losing
a few pounds and then putting it all back on. Our treatments have nothing to do with dieting but they do change the way clients
think about food, changing bad habits for good ones, and in our experience the results are usually long lasting.
You advertise alternative remedies such as ‘Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy’, ‘EFT’, ‘NLP’? What are they?
Why not visit our website to find our more or call us and we can explain further. All of these techniques have been proved and
tested over many years and much of our work comes from recommendations from clients we have treated in the past. C/O

FACT OR FICTION?
FACT: The best form of marketing is ‘Word
of Mouth’. However, if you are a new business you
need a client base to put this into operation and
advertising can be a great option, whether in a
newsletter, magazine or through posters, fliers or
business cards. The message needs to be out there! Once you have some
customers then set up a good recommendation scheme to win more business
through these clients who ‗love you. Watch this space for the 3 ‗R‘s of
recommendation in the next edition
FICTION: Advertising is a Waste of Money! As in the words of Henry
Ford ―50% of advertising words and 50% doesn‘t—it is just finding the right
50%‖. All advertising should be budgeted, targeted, monitored and assessed.
One off advertising RARELY WORKS. Advertising should be part of your
marketing package and a good media outlet such as Marathon Media., offers
advice and support to ensure you get value for money, effective advertising.
Look out for our 5 Great Advertising tips in the next edition.

A Thank You from Labour's Emilie It was a huge privilege to be Labour‘s candidate for the recent
General Election in Sherwood – I was born in Rainworth, went to
School in the constituency and have lived Sherwood the majority of
my life. I am writing to thank everyone who has shown me such
support and friendship over this time.
I would particularly like to thank those who supported me in the
recent election. While thousands of people across the area put their
trust in me, on this occasion it was not enough. I wish our new
Conservative MP, Mark Spencer well and congratulate him on his
victory. I hope he always puts Sherwood people first and serves local
people as a full-time MP as he pledged to do in the election campaign.
I take from the campaign many memories and huge inspiration from
the people I met across Sherwood. Whether it was the mother in
Clipstone whose life had been transformed thanks to the local Sure
Start centre; the local people of Rainworth who together campaign
to safeguard our local environment; the people of Bilsthorpe who
give up their own time to re-establish the village hall; the family in
Farnsfield who knew what a difference the Child Tax Credit made or
the pensioner in Blidworth who told me the free concessionary bus
pass had given them huge freedom.
Despite our defeat, I am certain that the Labour Party in Sherwood
will continue to be a strong voice – campaigning to protect jobs,
families and public services which are so important for local people.
Over the next few months I will be out and about talking to local
people about local issues and particularly the impact of decisions by
the new Conservative-Liberal government. Some of the decisions
already announced will have a serious impact on local people such as
the cuts to job programmes, cuts to university places and cuts to
abolish the Child Trust Fund.
Our hard working Labour councilors and I will keep a close eye on
the impact of cuts in local government too – whether plans to
continue rebuilding our schools will now be torn up – affecting
Dukeries in Ollerton, Joseph Whitaker in Rainworth and Holgate in
Hucknall.
For my part, I will continue to do what I can to hold our new
Conservative MP to account and to help to make Sherwood an even
better place to live. Once again, thank you for your support maybe
next time!
