Father’s Focus 2

GENERATIONS OF FAITH

On March 15, during our next Generations of Faith, Fr. John Lanzrath will share more on St. Teresa of Calcutta's statement, “I see the face of Jesus in you!” As she would say, “If you see the face of Jesus in the person, how can you not love them?” It is simple to remember, but incredibly challenging to see the face of Jesus in each person whom we meet. Fr. John will be sharing his personal experience working alongside a present-day saint. Please join us as we learn more about her example and enjoy each other’s fellowship during our next Generations of Faith.

Schedule of Events:

5:00 p.m. Meet in the gym for dinner with family, friends, and fellow parishioners

5:45 p.m. Dismiss children grades K-2 and 3-5 for breakout sessions

5:50 p.m. Dismiss all others to the church presentation

6:50 p.m. Bring K-2 and 3-5 children into church for prayer session for whole group

7:30 p.m. Dismissal

Dinner

For dinner bring your hors d'oeuvres, ready to share with everyone.

The food will be set out in buffet fashion. Participants will go through the serving line and choose which item to eat. Be sure to label your dish so people know what it is.

Breakout Sessions

The entire family (ages 0 – 103) are welcome to join us for this Generations of Faith. Toddlers will remain with their parents dur-ing the talk. There will be separate breakout sessions for children in grades K-2 and 3-5.

Hard of hearing?

The talk will be in the church. This will allow persons who have more difficulty hearing the benefit of the microphone system. We will release people from dinner in such a way as to give those with difficulty hearing the ability to sit where they prefer in the church.

Registration

Register at the tables after Masses this weekend in the vestibule or Clare Hallway. You may also register in the church office by Friday, March 13, or sign up online at stfranciswichita.com. If you do not get a chance to register, you are still welcome to come – but bring your appetizer!

3 What’s Happening

EVANGELIZATION MOMENTS From the Evangelization Committee

What if, during Lent, you and your family spent 15 minutes every Sunday evening reading and discussing a chapter or two from the Gospel of Mark? Afterward, challenge everyone to tell a friend what you read or discussed. Evangelization is NOT difficult; little moments can transform hearts.

LENTEN FOOD DRIVE The “Lenten Call to Action” Food Drive to benefit Catholic Charities’ “Our Daily Bread” Food Pantry runs now through Palm Sunday. Please consider feeding a less fortunate family by donating oatmeal, cereal, breakfast bars, rice, pasta, soup, canned peas, carrots, spinach, tuna, chicken or fruit, or any condiment. Donations can be dropped off in the main walk-way at the table designated for “Lenten Call to Action.” Help us to answer Christ’s call to feed the hungry.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS Each Friday in Lent, Stations of the Cross will be held at 6:15 p.m. in the church, following Mass and Evening Prayer.

Registration consists of turning in a com-pleted registration form, a copy of the student’s baptismal cer-tificate, and the $10 retreat fee.

OPERATIONS COUNCIL “Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1) God calls all of us to leave behind our old ways and to follow Him, placing our complete trust in Him. Some of the old ways that we may have to struggle to leave behind might be materi-alism, selfishness, and greed. Yet God promises to show us a new land and a better way to live. Remember what St. Teresa of Calcutta said: “God does not call us to be successful; God calls us to be faithful.”
