• The characters and conflicts in Marked are very important to this book. While the conflicts were happening the characters took it very well considering there conflicts. These Characters are strong minded, independent, stick together, and believe strongly. These conflict motivates my character to change in many ways from getting revenge to a whole new life.

“The two of them act happy and pretend to like John the whole damn make believe family thing, so you smile at them and pray for them and let them do what ever. And me? You think I am the bad one because I don’t pretend – because I’m honest. You know what? I ‘m sick of my life that I’m glad the Tracker marked me ! They call the vampire school the House of Night but I cant be any darker that this perfect home!

Before I could cry or scream I whirled around the stalked back to my bed room , slamming the door behind me “ ( 17)

The big conflict in Marked was when Zoey got marked this means that she has to this vampire school or else she dies. If she doesn’t get there she has to start a new life and not every one is so sure about her new life including Zoey. Zoeys parents are not so supportive and neither are her friends. I learned that Zoey has only one person she can turn to in times of trouble, her grandmother is the only one in the begin that supports Zoey.

“’It was incredibly weird to look down at myself. Wasn’t scared But I should be , shouldn’t I ? Didn’t this mean in was dead? Maybe I’d be able to see the Cherokee ghost better now . Even that thought didn’t scare me.

Actually instead of me being afraid it was more like I was an observer , as if none of this could really touch me. “( 37)

This quote explains when she went to her grandmothers and she was walking to go find her grandmother and she was in the lavender field she tripped and died for a couple of minuets and during those couple of

minuets she saw the Cherokee sprites and Nyx.

Rubbing her wrist ,she glared at me. "don't bother showing up tomorrow . Consider yourself uninvited and no longer a dark daughter.” “really?!” I felt unbelievably calm. I know I held the trump card on this an I pulled it.” So you want to explain to my mentor , High Priestess Neferet , the camp whose idea it was for me to join the dark daughters in the first place , that you kicked me out because your jealous your boyfriend likes me?” Her

face pled. “oh and you may very sure that I’ll be totally completely upset when Neferet ask me about it “ I sniffed and sobbing a little like I was fake crying “ Do you know what its like to be a part of something and have

no one else in the group what you there ?” She snarled between her clenched teeth.” (234-235)

This is a conflict because not only does Zoey want revenge on this girl because she has been rood from the first time she looked at her but she was forced to join The dark daughters and she is the leader in it. The fist

day that Zoey came to this school she saw her doing something she wasn’t suppose to do and also now that her so called boyfriend now likes Zoey the girl is getting her Zoey is now getting two things that she

wants a cute boy and revenge on a bully.

I would use a picture that had a boy cheating on his girlfriend and the girlfriend getting mad

“As a little girl I’d climbed this path holding Grandma’s hand more times than I could count. In the meadows of tall grasses and wildflowers we’d lay out a brightly colored blanket and eat a picnic lunch while grandma told me

stories of the Cherokee people and taught me the mysterious sounding words of their language.” (34)

This is a good setting because it describes the place she walks up as she goes to find her grandmother but she is so sick because she needs to go the special Vampyre school then she trips on a rock and falls and passes out and dies for a small time and deals with her Cherokee ancestors.

I would use a girl laying in the middle of a meadow of lavender

“Well ,hell ,my day just wasn’t going to get any better. And there sat my robin’s egg-blue 1966VW Bug right in the middle of them. No . I couldn’t go out there . I couldn’t walk into the middle of all of them with this thing on

my forehead. I’d never be able to be a part of them again. I already knew too well what they’d do. I remember that last kid a Tracker had chosen at

SIHS.”(7)

This is an important setting because this is at the school and the school was the place that she acutely got marked.

I would have a picture of a parking lot with a blue VW bug

“The House of Night was built in the neo-French –Norman style ,with stones imported from Europe . It originated in the mid-1920s as an Augustine

monastery for the people of Faith. ” (62)

This setting is important because you get a feeling of what it feels like and also get imagery from reading this quote . This setting is kind of like the place you would expect a vampire school to look like if there was a

such thing. This quote gives you a cold feeling when you read it.

“ No matter what bullshit you heard he’s still mine. He’ll always be mine .” (233)

This is a good quote because it shows latter on how her self- esteem changes so much because she tells this one girl off that is trying to take her boy friend and is a bully too I think that she got confidence from her boy friend her new found friends and her grandmother.

“ just when I thought my day couldn’t get any worse I saw the dead guy standing next to my locker . Kayla was talking nonstop in her usual k-babble , and she didn’t even notice him until he spoke , which is , tragically ,more evidence of my freakish inability to fit in .” (1)

I picked this quote because It shows how negative she is through out the story. It shows her self-esteem through out the story up until she gets to the House of night. Is has really low self- esteem I know this because when she said “more evidence of my freakish inability to fit in.”

“ Incredibly ,it seemed that I was suddenly surrounded by the four elements , that I was in the middle of a whirlpool made up of air and fire, water and earth. But I wasn’t scary ,not at all. It filled me with peace, and at the same time I felt a surge of white –hot laughing with pure joy .” (246)

This was a good quote because this is when she went and conducted a ritual her self and that had not ever been done by some one who had not been a full vampire. This was a very impressive task because she has done all four elements and no one has done that before except for one vampire and that was centuries ago she is going to make history.
