Alleluia Jesus is Risen! The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the core foundation of our Christian faith. Easter is the greatest of all celebrations that God always has the final word and speaks last. Sin and death are not obstacles for God’s saving presence and that desire for our salvation gives us strength and comfort in our journey toward eternity. The Risen

Christ is the source of our joy and hope. But the Risen Christ also challenges us to live our lives in response to our baptismal promises. That challenge offers us the opportunity to persevere in grace and willingly learn more about our faith; regularly practice our faith and evangelize with the example of our lives.

Easter looks very different this year as we are confined to

our homes. Celebrations are limited to immediate family and it might not feel like the penance of Lent has subsided. The Archbishop has cancelled all public Masses through next weekend, so we will be celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday at home as well. Even though we live with a pandemic among us, our Easter spirit must remain confident and hopeful! God is alive and present in our lives and in our world! Alleluia remains our refrain as we encourage one another through these trying times. May we confidently go into the world with shouts of alleluia that God is alive and present in our lives and help others to see God’s presence in their lives as well. Happy Easter!

God bless you, Father Michael Kaluza

YOUR PARISH FAMILY

Fridays at 3:00pm parishioners of Mary Queen of Peace are asked to pray a Rosary in your home in reparation for sin and for our Lord’s mercy and the end to COVID-19. We can’t be together during this time but we can still pray together.

Mary Queen of Peace, Pray for us!

Find us on Facebook to watch Sunday Liturgy on the weekend.

CHECK YOUR FRIDAY EBLAST FOR LIVE MASS

TIME.

While you are watching the livestream of the Mass, take a

moment to make an Act of Spiritual Communion when you

would ordinarily receive the Eucharist.

ACT OF SPIRITUAL

COMMUNION SAINT ALPHONSUS LIGOURI

My Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to possess You within my soul. Since I am unable at this moment to receive You sacra-mentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as being already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH OLD

PLAMS?

First of all, never throw away old palms in the garbage. According to Code of Canon Law #1171, anything that is blessed should always be treated with respect. Because Palms are blessed during the Palm Sunday Mass, they are considered a ‘Sacramental’ which is an object that is meant to draw us closer to the sacraments and to increase our devotion to God. Many people braid palms in various ways and use them to decorate their home by placing them behind a crucifix or a picture. The palms are a reminder for us of Palm Sunday and the Passion narrative that was read at Mass. It helps us to remember Holy Week and in a special way how God showed his love for us by Jesus dying on the cross for our sins and by resurrecting from the dead on Easter Sunday. By throwing away blessed palms in the garbage we are discarding, ignoring, and disrespect-ing their sacred purpose. Proper disposal of our old palms would be to bury them or burn them. By doing so we keep in mind the sacred purpose and it returns them to the earth in a dignified manner. Anyone can do this, but if you don’t have the ability to burn or bury them, you are welcome to bring them to the church once we can gather together again.

know? Thank you to those of you who continue to financial support Mary Queen of Peace!

Continuing your contributions during these times of uncertainty, not knowing how quickly the COVID-19 pandemic will last, if you are able to continue your contributions to our parish, it is gratefully appreciated. If you are able to give extra for those who are not able to give due to current circumstances, God will not be outdone in generosity. With our regular and continued expenses at Mary Queen of Peace, we count on your financial sup-port to meet the financial needs of our parish.

We are delighted to share that the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church and School online auction has been a great success! So far, Mary Queen of Peace raised a total of $15,687 at the online auction. A special thank you to our amazing community for your generosity and support. As you know, the annual Gala that was postponed is the largest fundraiser for benefitting Mary Queen of Peace School and Church. This year’s “Fund-A-Need” portion of the Gala is to purchase new Math, Science and Technology materials for students and teachers. We received a generous matching grant opportunity from Catholic Schools Center of Excellence. CSCOE is offering to match $10,000 towards the Fund-A-Need. Currently, we raised $6,370. Please consider supporting MQP towards the remaining $3,630 to help us reach our goal of $20,000. Donate online through our website at mqpcatholic.org, click the “DONATE” button and then “DONATE ONLINE NOW” button or checks can be mailed directly to the parish/school office. Thank you for your support. We are grateful for you and your generosity.
