JOINING TOGETHER ~ ONE IN PRAYER While the suspension of public celebration of Mass continues

due to the coronavirus pandemic,

Mass will be streamed live Every SUNDAY at 11:00am

From Sacred Heart School - Havertown Facebook page

Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Peace be with you!

I pray my weekly message finds you and your loved ones well. Fr. Mike and I are bearing with one another, as I hope you are! Under normal circumstances our parish community would be celebrating the sacrament of Confirmation with our 7th Grade parishioners and their families this Sunday at 2:00pm. Last weekend would have started our First Communion celebrations at the weekend Masses with our 2nd Graders. Like everything else, these Sacramental celebrations have been postponed until a later date. I regret, along with our children and their families, that these and other parish activities have been put on hold until we are able to safely gather together as Church once again. These are rather small inconveniences in light of the struggles so many are enduring as the unemployment rate goes up and financial concerns weigh heavy on the hearts of so many citizens. May the Risen Lord strengthen our faith in these uncertain times and bless us with patience until we are able to celebrate the sacramental life of the Church as a parish community. In today’s Gospel we listen to another Resurrection story! Two of Jesus’ disciples are leaving Jerusalem, on the road to Emmaus. Why? I don’t know! It seems like “a strange time” to “get out of dodge.” Sure, they were devastated by the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Sure, they are dejected and fearful. Yet, they had just heard some astounding news. “Some women from our group” were visiting Jesus’ tomb and found it empty. An angel told them “he was alive.” Wouldn’t it make sense to hang around Jerusalem to find out if Jesus was alive? Surprisingly, they leave town with unanswered questions. Jesus decides to answer their questions and more. He joins them on their journey. Jesus proceeds to teach and interpret how the Scriptures referred to him. Then come the critical moment. They invite Jesus to “stay with us,” even though he gave the impression he was going farther. Accepting, Jesus is recognized as “he took bread, said the blessing, broke it and gave it to them.” The disciples’ hospitality, “stay with us,” enabled their eyes to be opened. Inviting, welcoming and practicing hospitality were the ways the Church grew in its beginning and continues today. These are absent in our Church and in today’s society due to this pandemic. This absence impacts all of us. We are social people! We enrich one another in welcoming, inviting

and through hospitality. Hopefully, we will soon be able to practice hospitality. In the meantime, let us make sure we are practicing hospitality with those we call family. In praying, imagine yourself as these disciples and say to Jesus, “Stay with me!” Invite Jesus to stay with you and your loved ones as we cope with this pandemic. Stay with us, Lord! God bless,

Fr. McKee

Prayer for the End of the Coronavirus

Loving God, you sent your son Jesus Christ to heal the sick. We ask you to come to our aid in the midst of the coronavirus crisis that we too may experience your healing love. We ask you to heal those who are sick. Calm those who are living in fear. Be with those who have died and comfort their families. Inspire health

professionals to aid them in their healing work. Guide national leaders to lead and make decisions with wisdom. Help us to always be aware of your

presence as we place our trust in you. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen.

Keeping Our Spirit Strong Fr. Matt Hillyard, OSFS

In times of uncertainty, such as this time of isolation due to COVID-19 quarantine and shelter-in-place directives, taking time to reflect becomes essential. As we continue to look for ways to navigate this time at home, I find that these ten phrases keep my spirit strong and so, I share them with you.

1. Even though this virus is a pain for so many, I do not have to be one. (Adapted from Maya Angelou)

2. Be patient with everyone, above all yourself. (St. Francis de Sales)

3. Be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46)

4. Repetition is good: Wash your hands; Don't touch your eyes; Love one another.

5. Do not let your hearts be troubled; you have faith in God, have faith also in me. (John 14:1)

6. Do not worry about tomorrow with its cares and concerns. Live only for today with its cares for when tomorrow arrives, it too will be called today. Live today well. (St. Francis de Sales) 7. You are unique, an irreplaceable, irrepeatable work of God: Be who you are and be that thoroughly well. (St. Francis de Sales)

8. Live four-letter words: Live, Love, Give, Tell, Open, Hear, Hope, Sing, Gasp, Fall, Lift, Amen. These give us Life.

9. Fear and hate, as well as other four-letter words, should be avoided because they do not give us life and only remind us that we are not being the very best of who we are.

10. The first gift of the Risen Lord to His disciples was peace. PEACE BE WITH YOU. In the midst of their, anguish, sadness, despair, confusion, and loss, He offered peace. Peace be with you and your families in these uncertain days. Peace, because it is Easter. Our peace has to end with Alleluia because that is our calling and anthem. Peace, Alleluia!

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Live Jesus!
