STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION In our Second Reading from St. Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, Paul says, “So we are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were appealing through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” There are two important points intended for us in those two sentences, especially during our Lenten journeys.
First, we are to be “ambassadors on behalf of Christ.” Then, as now, an ambassador was one who represented a ruler, at that time most likely a king, in dealing with others. Paul’s meaning is that we are called to represent our King, the Lord, here and now in our dealings with others. We do things representing our Lord and Savior, and we need to recognize both that fact and the responsibility which goes with it. It is what being a steward means — someone who is placed in charge of gifts which come to us from God and which are to be used in God’s behalf. That should be part of our Lenten efforts.
The second sentence reminds us that we need to be reconciled with God. Note that it does not say that God is to be reconciled with us. The duty lies with us and needs to be precipitated by us. At this time as Easter approaches, reconciliation‐confession is important and necessary. At a recent general audience Pope Francis declared, “I can’t be baptized two or three or four time, but I can go to confession often and regularly, and when I go to confession, I renew the grace of Baptism.”

St. James—St. Leo Catholic Community is under the pastoral care of the Eudist Fathers, or Congregation of Jesus and Mary. We owe our name to Saint John Eudes who founded the Congregation in France in 1643. The Eudists currently operate in 15 countries, most of which are in the developing world. Evangelization, mainly with the poor and the youth, is our primary purpose, as well as formation to ministry in the
training of diocesan priests and lay ministers. Our motto is “To Serve Christ and His Church.” For more information visit: http://www.eudistes.org/english.htm
Parish‐ Wide Feasibility Study Begins We need your help to plan for the future of our parish.
As we continue looking to the future for our beloved parish, we are moving forward with a Feasibility Study, a process designed to ensure that we, as a parish community, are committed to our goals of expansion and improvement. Such an effort requires thoughtful planning to ensure success. The advice and input of our parishioners is essential. Your opinions, and those of fellow parishioners and school families will help us formulate a plan of action. Together, we can make well‐informed decisions about the future of St. James Parish.
To assist us, the parish has retained Guidance In Giving, Inc., a professional Catholic development organization, to work with our staff in coordinating all aspects of the Feasibility Study. Based on opinions and input found here at St. James Parish, the firm will guide us in formulating a plan of action and will make recommendations regarding our next steps in implementing a successful capital campaign.
Over the next few weeks, every registered household in the parish will receive more information on the Feasibility Study in the mail. All survey results will be kept confidential. Please plan on participating in this vital endeavor. Thank you in advance for your help!
