TODAY’S READINGS Gospel at the Procession with Palms — Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1‐11). First Reading — In spite of my sufferings I am not dis‐graced. I am not put to shame (Isaiah 50:4‐7). Psalm — My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? (Psalm 22) Second Reading — Christ emptied himself, and God filled this emptiness with exaltation (Philippians 2:6‐11). STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION Most of us know today as Palm Sunday, although officially in the Church it is called Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion, and to many Church leaders it is simply Passion Sunday, which comes from the Latin name for it, Dominica Passionis. We have reflected on this day previously how the liturgy begins with great joy and becomes more and more somber with the reading of the Passion.

During the procession of the palms Jesus arrives in Jerusalem to great tumult and rejoicing as the people cry out “Hosanna… blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, hosanna in the highest.” As the Mass progresses we get an overview of what is to occur during this holiest of weeks, including the institution of the Eucharist, the passion and death of the Lord, the prediction of His Resurrection, and then His Resurrection itself.

Imagine the confusion of the Twelve Apostles. Jesus has been spending time with them in the recent weeks prior to the Passion trying to get them to understand that His time of suffering was near and approaching, and that is the reason He must go to Jerusalem. And here is the crowd welcoming and praising and laughing and celebrating His presence.

We are not much different in many ways, but now is the time for us to really embrace and understand the sacrifice the Lord made for each of us, and the incredible gift He has given us. REFLECION DOMINICAL La mayoría de nosotros conocemos hoy como el Domingo de Ramos, aunque oficialmente en la Iglesia se llama Domingo de Ramos de la Pasión del Señor, y para muchos líderes de la Iglesia es simplemente Domingo de Ramos, que proviene del nombre latino para ello, Dominica Passionis . Hemos reflexionado en este día previamente cómo la liturgia comienza con gran alegría y se vuelve más y más sombrío con la lectura de la Pasión.

Durante la procesión de las palmas de las manos de Jesús llega a Jerusalén a gran tumulto y regocijo como el pueblo clama “Hosanna ... Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor, hosanna en las alturas.” A medida que progresa la misa obtenemos una visión general de lo que va a ocurrir durante este sagrado de semana, incluyendo la institución de la Eucaristía, la pasión y muerte del Señor, la predicción de su resurrección, y luego su propia resurrección.

Imaginar la confusión de los Doce Apóstoles. Jesús ha estado pasando tiempo con ellos en las últimas semanas antes de la pasión tratando de llegar a entender que su tiempo de sufrimiento estaba cerca y se acerca, y esa es la razón por la que debía ir a Jerusalén. Y aquí es la multitud la bienvenida y alabar y riendo y celebrando su presencia.

No somos muy diferentes en muchos aspectos, pero ahora es el momento para nosotros para abrazar realmente entendemos el sacrificio y el Señor hizo para cada uno de nosotros, y el increíble regalo que nos ha dado. En los próximos días es nuestra última oportunidad de volver a dedicarnos verdaderamente nosotros mismos a ser su discípulo.

Mission Circle People Helping People In Need

Mission Circle needs gently used clothes for the Casa Eudes Fashion Show. Clean out your closets and help the girls’ home in Tijuana at the same time! Bring us your gently used clothes, shoes, purses, jewelry, and other accessories by April 25. After the show the clothes will go to the thrift shop that helps support the girls’ home. We’re collecting everything from little girls’ clothes to teen‐age and adult styles. Please put your donations in the collection box in the “cry room” (to the right as you enter the church) and label them “Fashion Show”.

CANCELLED HEALING PRAYER: Due to all the services during Holy Week, there will not be Healing Prayer ministry from 7:00 ‐ 8:15 pm on April 11 in the Church. Our final 2nd Tuesday Healing Prayer will be held May 9th. Our next Healing Mass will be on Wednesday, April 26th, (be there at 6:30 pm) with our very own, Fr. Ricky presiding. Next healing Mass will be January 31, 2018. Sunday healing prayer after 9:00 am Mass will continue until June 11th, 2017. God bless you in your deepest need.

TAIZE Prayer Around the Cross April 12 – 7:30 pm during Holy Week

Taize, (located in France ... where this meditative, spiritual experience has been held for so many years) has the sense of ‘no beginning and no end’ ... just like God’s love. Oftentimes people remark that this is one of their most intense moments of experiencing a hu‐man closeness to Jesus or highest meditative state of peace and consolation. Many discover deep healing as they release and OPEN THEIR SPIRIT to the meaning of Holy Week because Taize is held in St. James Church the night before the Triduum begins.
