Organizational environment is complex and dynamic
To survive, organizations need to continuously adapt and
develop
• E.g., Change how they work internally, change their
strategy, become more entrepreneurial, collaborate
with other organizations
(Project) managers, internal policy advisors, external
consultants formulate interventions / solutions and ways
of implementing them

To do that well they need to:
• Understand the issue at hand based on evidence
(data, analysis, conclusion) diagnosis
• Draw on most up-to-date research on the topic
tailor-made solution
• Communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders
• Guide a team to facilitate implementation

Duration – 1 year, in English
Spring semester – course free
MA OS covers the whole range of present-day organizations
MA OS trains organizational analysts
Focus: organizational adaptation to dynamic environments
Strong focus on analytical skills
prepares for Dutch and international labor market
Extended Master OS with integrated traineeship
Approach:

Interdisciplinary approach (sociology, psychology, management
and business studies)
Strong focus on analytical skills (including research methods)
Closely linked to the department’s research program
Self-activation & self-assessment
Few final written exams, mainly reports, presentations,

Master thesis Organization Studies (24 ECTS):
Competence test to show that you:
• can perform research independently
• have deep knowledge of the topic
• are able to interpret and communicate research results
Approach:
• Thesis circles of up to 8 students supervised by staff members
• Research topic within the framework of the research program
of the department
• Thesis has to be written in English

4. Variant A: Extended Master OS
Titel presentatie in Footer 1327-3-2017
• 1,5 year long program
• Semester 1: Same courses as in the regular Master OS
• Semester 2 & 3: Junior traineeship at a partner
organization (12 months)
• Research proposal around a problem experienced by
the partner organization
• 6 full-day workshops on consultancy process and skills
• 2 professional assignments

4. Admission requirements for Extended Master

• Admission: Same as regular Master OS
• Students have to apply and be accepted by the
Department of Organization Studies and the partner
organization in the spring of 2017
• Information session and speed date in May, 2017
• Deadline for applications for 2017/18 is in May, 2017

4. Variant B: Research Master in Social Science

• 2-year research oriented program in Social Sciences
with focus on individual in social contexts
• Interdisciplinary approach that integrates social
psychology, sociology, organization studies and
methodology
• Trains all-round researchers
• Admission takes place after selection. There is a limited
number of openings (max 30)
• Students must apply for enrolment in the program
