HighJump for PeopleSoft 8.9 2

HighJump Software and Handheld Device Overview Children’s uses PeopleSoft for financials and materials management/inventory system (MMIS)

processing.

At locations where Children’s inventory is received and stored, barcode information is scanned and used

to count and track the inventory.

HighJump software is on the handheld devices used to scan the barcodes and process warehouse tasks.

The devices use a wireless network to communicate the barcode information to Peoplesoft, where it is

integrated into Children’s financial and materials management processing.

HighJump processes also include Delivery Advantage (loaded on specific handheld devices for making

deliveries across campuses) and web-based applications for unknown receipts, Delivery Advantage

deliveries, and MESA equipment tracking.

All of the HighJump transactions are viewable online, based on your security access. To view them on

StarNet, go to the Applications page and click HighJump.

Device Storage in the Charging Cradle

When not in use, the handheld devices must be stored in the chargers. You will take one as needed

for your work.

The handheld device does not need to be in the charging cradle for data upload.

Important: Tap F2 to log off the device before placing the device in the charging cradle. F1 to back

out of the current function, if necessary.

When in the charging cradle, the amber/orange Charge Status LED on the handheld indicates:

No light Handheld device is not charging; device is not inserted correctly in the cradle or

connected to a power source; charger is not powered.

Slow-blinking amber

Handheld device is charging.

Solid amber Charging complete.

Note: When a battery is initially inserted in the device, the LED flashes once if the

battery power is low or the battery is not fully inserted.

Fast-blinking amber

Charging error

• Temperature too low or too high.

• Charging too long without completing (typically 8 hours). Use a new battery.

Batch Picking Orders to Totes

HighJump for PeopleSoft 8.9 14

Batch Picking Orders to Totes PeopleSoft prioritizes the orders/items into batches (based on department, order date, availability, etc.)

and displays the Pick Batch to pick in HighJump. You see the item, the location and the quantity to pick.

Information on orders picked with the HighJump handhelds is viewable online, based on your security

access. To view them on StarNet, go to the Applications page and click HighJump.

To improve accuracy, a pick list is batched by department and order – this means that whole orders are

delivered at once and, even if the inventory quantity is 0, this is reported to the ordering department in

the packing list. Each order is picked and delivered in a numbered tote. As you pick the order, you can

add totes as needed.

To save steps in the warehouse, the pick list is in “best path” order, by warehouse location. Even when

you pick more than one pick batch at a time, the items to pick are displayed in “best path” sequence. So,

for example, you can pick 2 orders, using 2 totes – the system directs you to the next logical location,

then tells you which tote the item belongs in for the appropriate order.

Notes:

You can press F8 to Skip an item. For example, you may want to skip a heavy item and pick it up

last. When you choose to Skip items, they are displayed at the end of the pick list for the order.

If you are picking a batch and you need to stop, write down the Batch ID number and then F1 to

back out of the current function. Someone else needs to complete that batch using the Batch Re-

Assign option on the PICK Menu. For details, go to Batch Re-Assign (Completing Someone Else’s

Pick Batch) on page 17.
