The Life Series is a powerful observational docu-mentary television series that chronicles the life stories of a group of Australian children as they grow from infancy to adolescence, recording their most important life events as they unfold. Filmed as part of the largest ever scientific study of Australian children, over these first five series (from Life at 1, 3, 5, 7, 9) we get a unique insight into what it takes to give a child the best chance in life.

A Mentally Healthy Shire of Gnowangerup
Shire of Gnowangerup – Act-Belong-Commit official site
This week, the Shire of Gnowangerup adopted the Western Australian campaign Act-Belong-
Commit in a bid create a more mentally healthy Shire and has become an official Act-Belong-
Commit site. Kirsty has been assigned the Shire of Gnowangerup’s Act-Belong-Commit project
officer.
Act-Belong-Commit is a world first program developed by Curtin University that encourages
everyone to take action to protect and strengthen their mental health and wellbeing. We hear a
lot about what we can do to prevent physical illnesses, but did you know there are things we
can and should do to prevent mental illnesses and problems? The Act-Belong-Commit
campaign prescribes being active, building a sense of belonging and having a sense of
meaning and purpose in life for good mental health.
If you are a community group or organisation who would like to become Act-Belong-
Commit community partner, call Kirsty at the Shire Office on 9827 1007. Together we can

National Youth Week celebrates the contributions that young
people make to their communities. However, this event was also
a great opportunity to promote the Act Belong Commit message.
Participants were encouraged to learn how to stay mentally
healthy by take part in community events that improve
communication, connectedness, team work and understanding
