MAY 20, 2018

WELCOME

Westminster Presbyterian Church is a covenant family of believers called by God to fulfill His purposes here in Laurel, and as a staging ground for worldwide kingdom growth where we seek to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ – to fill the earth with disciples, subdue it redemptively for God’s glory, and worship Him joyfully. We are being redeemed and equipped by the Spirit to build up one another until the Lord returns.

ORDER FOR THE CELEBRATION OF PUBLIC WORSHIP AND HOLY COMMUNION

MAY 20, 2018

* Congregation Standing

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Jeremy Britt

INVOCATION

INTROIT

RESPONSIVE CALL TO WORSHIP*

O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us, what deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old: For not in my bow do I trust, nor can my sword save me. But you have saved us from our foes and have put to shame those who hate us.

In God we have boasted continually, and we will give thanks to Your name forever. - from Psalm 44:1, 3

HYMN OF PRAISE AND PROCESSION ON GRADUATES*

God of Our Fathers

GOD OF OUR FATHERS

PROFESSION OF OUR CHURCH’S FAITH*

Those who are alive at the last day will not die but will be changed. At that time all the dead will be raised with the very same bodies and no other than the same bodies they had before, although with different characteristics, which will be united again to their souls forever. By the power of Christ the bodies of the unjust shall be raised to dishonor, but by his Spirit the bodies of the just will beraised to honor and be made according to the pattern of His own glorious body.

We Were Glorified

CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN

God of our fathers, slow to anger, rich in mercy, we too often reflect the heart of our first Adam by seeking to put ourselves in Your place. Help us to live in light of our future glorification through faith in the second Adam. How often we have withheld forgiveness due to wandering in the valley rather than soaring on eagles wings. Help us to trust You in the hard times and praise You at all times. Forgive our selfishness and fearfulness. Make us courageous and humble. We plead Your mercy and claim You as our treasure. Amen.

(Hear now our silent and individual prayers of confession)

ASSURANCE OF PARDON AND THE LORDS PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. AMEN.

HOLY COMMUNION

Minister: The peace of the Lord be with you! People: And also with you!
