ON THE COVER: “Vortex” by Eugenia Oritz The shapes and forms Eugenia uses in her work are her interpretations of the human soul and their role in the ebb and flow of life and relationships. She sees these forms as having their own personalities, with many facets and layers to each piece, just like a person. Through color, movement, patterns, layers and textures, Eugenia conceptualizes the soul’s life journeys through struggles and triumphs that lead to freedom, peace, happiness and empowerment. “Vortex,” Acrylic and Eggshell painting available for sale, contact Eugenia Ortiz at 913-735-7569. www.EugeniaOrtizArt.com ~ eortizart@gmail

Dear Friend, Daily, I try to open myself to differing views. I think the importance lies not in which view is right or wrong, but in using the information to create my own truth. With knowledge comes enlightenment. I do not believe in being against anything; rather, I choose to be for what I believe. How can we decide what we’re truly for if we don’t know the options? There is much disagreement when it comes to religious beliefs. In my view there are three choices: the male God, loving yet judgmental; the Goddess, loving mother; or the way of “the Tao,” that of a genderless supreme entity as pure energy. In Gospel of the Goddess, William Bond and
Pamela Suffiel say of the Tao, “The trouble with this idea is that human beings find it difficult to grasp what the Tao is really like. It is ever mysterious, and beyond the comprehension of our limited minds. We seem to need an image that we can relate to, that we can understand in human terms.” To define what one is for takes knowledge and courage. Christian Baldwin, au-thor of Life’s Companion: Journal Writing as a Spiritual Quest says, “To define what we’re for also requires specificity—clarifying the piece of the vision we assume as our responsibility.” My desire is to always have the opportunity to reflect and see the possibilities. Questioning my faith, opening myself to new points of view, allows me to pose questions so that I might have a new or different response. My desires and beliefs draw me as a magnet toward the reality that rings true for me. Find and create your own truth. What you believe is right is right—for this time—and perhaps for all time. I hope you enjoy this special issue on metaphysics—and the questions they may invoke.

An Evening of Insight from a Psychic Spy
PSI: Adventures in Conscious-ness presents Joe McMoneagle, the author/researcher known as U.S. Government Remote Viewer #001, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at Unity Temple
on the Plaza. McMoneagle is “The most renowned remote viewer in the United States”—Reader’s Digest. In fact, “Joseph McMoneagle may be watching you read this”—Washington Post. He is best known as one of the world’s leading inves-
tigational experts of Remote Viewing (RV) — the prac-tice of seeking information about a distant or unseen target using extra-sensory perception across space and time. McMoneagle has been featured on the History Channel, the National Geographic Channel and an ABC special called “Put to the Test.” One of the original officers recruited for the top-secret Stargate Project in the 1970s and ‘80s by the Counter Intelligence Corp of the U.S. Army and the Stanford Research Institute, McMoneagle was awarded the Legion of Merit. The Stargate Project frequently yielded accurate and extraordinary information not obtainable by standard means. When Army Brig. Gen. James Dozier was kidnapped in northern Italy, McMoneagle was able to provide the name of the town and a description of the building where the general was being held captive. He also used RV to gain information
about a huge building in Russia and provided specific details about a secret submarine the Russians were building. As a result of McMoneagle’s information, the intelligence community was later to verify the existence of the new Soviet Typhoon Class submarine — the larg-est sub in the world. In this special, live presentation on May 17, McMoneagle will share news and updates on the latest Remote Viewing projects and experiments being con-ducted around the world. He will also provide answers on what this new research is revealing and what it tells us about our collective, global future. Tickets are $5 for PSI members, $10 for the public, available at the door. For more information, log onto www.psychicstudiesinstitute.org or Facebook.
Begin Your Journey into WellBeing® this Spring
It’s Spring… shed the layers, dust off your hiking shoes and spring ahead on a health and wellness journey! As the host of The Journey into Wellbeing® TV series, airing now on PBS stations nationwide, Debra K. in-tends to help you begin a voyage on solid footing. 1. Go! Energizers – “I’ve done the hard-core dieting and detoxing. The thought of punching my calories into my phone app. for the rest of my life is about as appeal-ing as when it’s time for my annual pap smear!” laughs Debra. Instead, she has committed to adding in more fresh fruits and vegetables and deterring cravings by blend-ing an energizer every morning. Visit www.reciperedoblog.com for some of Debra’s favorite recipes. 2. Invite Movement and RSVP Yes! – “I’ve noticed that the more expectation I place around exercising, the harder it is to do and the guiltier I feel when I don’t. I have never been one to structure myself long-term to commit to an exercise routine,” says Debra, who places reminders throughout her house to exercise. To make things simple, she has a yoga mat set up in front of the TV and keeps a stretch band in the kitchen to work those shoulder muscles when the coffee is brewing. Debra keeps a fit ball near her computer and does crunches when she needs a break from work. Tennis shoes and socks are always by the door as a reminder to
get out and walk. 3. Be Like a Cow – “It’s not obvious to most people, but cows are lucky. They go straight to the source and eat what they need right out of the earth. Humans have too many bad options to pick from and what we choose is often in a bag or box, too far from the original source,” advises Debra, who is focusing on eating foods in the form that is closest to their origination. Her ad-vice: pick produce yourself, become part of a farm de-livery program, buy fresh at a farmer’s market or pro-duce stand, or buy raw whole foods at your grocery. 4. Force the Chill – Always-on-the-go Debra adds, “This one is hard, especially for us Type-A workaholics, but it is vital for our overall wellbeing that we take time out and chill! I have set a timer on my phone to go off twice during the day with a reminder to take a few mo-ments off and relax.” Debra would love to hear your natural health tips and experiences. Feel free to write to her on Twitter @DebrasJourney or Facebook at Journey into Wellbe-ing with Debra K. Debra K. is the host and executive producer of The Journey into Wellbeing®, which began airing in Febru-ary on PBS stations in eight states. She is also the co-owner of imassage, Inc.; executive director of the Desti-nation Spa Group; and author of Success from the Start. Debra K. is a natural health explorer who left a Fortune 250 company to create The Journey into Well-being movement to positively impact the health of the nation. A recent news release quoted a survey indicating that the number of children diag-nosed with Attention Defi-cit Hyperactivity Disorder
had increased from 7 percent to 11 per-cent. This may have set off alarm bells. Upon investigation it turns out this was a phone survey with parents reporting about their children. This made me think more about the need for good, clear information about ADHD, its defi-nition, causes and ways to help. You may be surprised to know that, aside from a list of descriptive phrases, there are no tests, no biological markers for ADHD. The American Psychiatric Association has a list of 15 criteria. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders describes the diagnos-tic criteria in detail. This approach is subjective and symptoms can be inter-preted and treated differently. Often the suggestion for treatment comes from the teacher who can observe the behavior but has no diagnostic au-thority. The parents I have seen do not know where to turn for information and help. If they go to a family doctor the child is often routinely prescribed drugs like Ritalin or Adderall. This offers short-term results with long term side effects and diminishing efficacy. It is just one treatment option Hyperactivity and impulse control are symptoms and can be caused by a varie-ty of things. There is growing agreement about the different causal conditions. Here are some of the more frequently suggested triggers:
• Food sensitivities and food allergies • Chemical sensitivities
• Vitamin or mineral deficiencies
• Emotional trauma, anxiety and stress
• Vision or auditory perceptual prob-lems
• Heavy metal exposure
• Learning disabilities
• Lack of sleep
• Lack of structure, consistent expecta-tions and consequences
• Brain injury
• Neurotransmitter imbalance
• Inability to self-calm/relax the body
A licensed mental health clinician, preferably one trained in the knowledge of the above triggers, can assess those relating to emotions, parenting and dis-cipline and refer the parent to resources
for assessing the other causes. Doris Rapp, MD, has written many books on the subject of allergies and children. You can go to her web site www.drrapp.com and get the infor-mation on ‘user-friendly’ allergy assess-ments. She has books addressing food allergies and environmental and chemi-cal sensitivities. Her approach is thor-ough and easy to follow. Many studies have indicated that 75 percent or more of children with ADD/ADHD have food sensitivities. A Naturopathic physician can help with the assessment of neurotransmitter imbalance, heavy metal toxicity, vitamin and mineral deficiency, and good nutri-tion and allergies/food sensitivities. Edward Hallowell, MD. and John Ratey, MD. have written a number of very helpful books on ADD, including Driven to Distraction and Delivered From Distraction. Their books are thor-ough and helpful with much infor-mation, including a self-assessment and different approaches to working with the symptoms. Another important tool, regardless of the cause is self-calming/relaxation. A wonderful book Ready…Set…R.E.L.A.X. by Jeffrey Allen and Roger J. Klein of-fers a research-based program of relaxa-tion, learning and self-esteem for chil-dren. I have successfully taught young children and adolescents to reduce stress and negative emotions with Dr. Leonard’s Neurobehavioral Programs. My Life Weaving Education Curriculum, a holistic problem solving approach, includes guided imagery for self-calming. Parents and teachers can use programs like these to help a child feel in charge of his/her brain and body. I hope this will help you, your chil-dren or students and anyone you know struggling with this issue. There is way more help than all the hype.

Sublime Ease
An Excerpt from Effortless Mind
P erhaps you have the im-pression that meditation is hard to do. It must be for a gifted few with or-derly, peaceful minds,
right? Nothing could be further from the truth. Meditation can be easy for any-one. In fact, as you’ll soon see for your-self, it has to be easy or it won’t work. Yet this principle appears to contra-dict common sense: to achieve anything of value in this world requires effort. Just look around. Humankind’s greatest achievements — in science and technol-ogy, in building corporations, in the creative arts — have been the product of effort. And those who made the effort to discover, build, or create those achieve-ments also made the effort to acquire the knowledge necessary to excel in their fields. When it comes to medita-tion, however, the only effort required is to make the time to do it. Granted, this can be a challenge in our busy, achieve-ment-oriented society, but once you’re actually sitting down and you close your eyes and begin, no effort is required. In fact, effort at that point will land you further from success. Why does effort yield positive results in nearly everything except the process of meditation? Simply put, achievement in the world is in the field of action, in the field of doing; meditation is in the field of being. Meditation is about doing less and less until you are doing noth-ing, simply being, abiding in the core of your innermost Self. At that point, the ego-mind, which is accustomed to al-ways doing and trying, has temporarily dissolved. This is why meditation is ef-fortless, why it must be effortless: the ego-mind can’t dissolve itself by doing. Doing only keeps it intact. In this respect, meditation is much like falling asleep (another common case of shifting from the waking state to another state of consciousness). Consid-er what happens every night when you go to bed. You turn off the lights, lie down, and after some time passes, you fall asleep. When it comes, sleep comes effortlessly. Other than setting up the proper conditions for sleep — turning off the lights, lying down comfortably, and so on — you can’t do falling asleep. In fact, as every insomniac knows, the more you try to fall asleep, the more surely you will lie awake tossing and turning. Only when you completely for-
get about trying to fall asleep does sleep come. The same holds true for meditation: making an effort to meditate only inter-feres with the process. You will have the best meditation when you approach it with the innocence of a child falling asleep. The child is simply tired, and so nature takes over and sleep comes, with ease. As Christ said, the kingdom of heaven is within you, and you must be as innocent as a child to enter it. Throughout our lives we have all
learned to make an effort to one degree or another in order to achieve our goals. This may bring us success in the world, but not peace or fulfillment. For fulfill-ment, both the inner and outer aspects of life need to be full. We must become as expert in the field of being as we are in the field of doing. This will not only bring inner peace and well-being, but it will also allow us to tap our full creative potential to be even more successful in our active lives.

S tudying metaphysics since 1989, my interpretations may differ from the consensus. The preposition “meta” means “beyond” or “look
beyond the physical.” Often labeled New Age, metaphysical teaching roots back to 8,000-year-old Vedic Yoga. The ancient yogis called it Sankulpa or “manifesting” what you intend to create. A form used today is called Yoga Nidra (deep rest) or vision with imagery. Still, it is not simple. In the practical, metaphysics means we dig deep to become as awake to our complex self, creating self-value, trust, authority and esteem to serve humanity and community. It is NOT about me, me, me. One holds compassion for human kind. A good example: My former husband and I recently attended a neighborhood function; some folks who did not know us well said, “I did not know they got back together!” We have not. We made a powerful and conscious choice when we parted years ago to avoid hurting our son, the family, one another, or mutual friends with blame, punishment or es-trangement. A child loves both parents and being critical of an “x” hurts his/her esteem; worse yet, it provides a weak model for forming healthy relationships. The child may fear intimacy as they become adult. Love is the foundation of metaphysics. I was seated for lunch by someone I didn’t know well, nor did I care to get to know him better. Later, I shared the diffi-culty of the tedious conversation with a friend. He looked at me and asked, “You mean you had no fun?” In Earth School, indeed, we are here to learn to have fun. Does it please you to observe how you think, how you lan-guage, how you act, and dream? I am DELIBERATE with my choices. If I am unhappy with anything (my weight, my habits, my body, my hair, my friends, my co-workers, it is my responsibility to rec-ognize, let old patterns go, heal and change. Indeed, it is fun as we undo “blocks” or resistances to old hurts, old patterns and never, never blame the
world, others or ourselves for our mis-takes. We love being human and know that we as humans will make mistakes and our mistakes are forgivable. Ultimately, we accept that we create and impact our reality and all people in the world use the common materials: 1)dreams/goals 2) imagination and expec-tation 3) allowing via 4) choices/decisions 5) thoughts 6) feelings 7) atti-tudes and 8) beliefs. On a recent plane ride, I sat by a wom-an who called herself an Avatar. “Do you know what that is?” she asked. I had a general idea that her mission focused on compassion. She began to point out my “limiting” beliefs. Now, here is the prob-lem: I hadn’t asked for her opinion. Yet, as my intent was set for a wonderful jour-ney, it was more fun to talk to her than sit by a silent stranger. I allowed her words to reinforce my principles, values, family, work, love and choices that have led to success and happiness. What a challenge to tackle such an intricate topic in 500 words so I con-clude: Metaphysics for me means I medi-tate daily; and I know, trust and rely up-on answers found within. Personal re-sponsibility is my champion. Here in the presence of my soul and spirit, sourced by all love, little ever goes wrong. How fun is that? EVOLVING… A GUIDE FOR CONSCIOUS LIVING 9 May 2013
D o you have difficulty sleeping, experi-ence unexplained fatigue or lack of vitality, pain or tension in your neck or shoulders, weight gain without over-eating, mood swings, diminished sex
drive, difficulty remembering things or chronic infec-tions? Do you ever wonder why???? The answer to this question and the culprit of these symptoms is probably STRESS. Stress is managed in a physiological way by the adrenal glands. The adren-al glands prepare your body for action when present-ed with a “fight or flight” situation. While this was a survival response in the days of the caveman, we are now more than ever, bombarded with stressors that promote adrenal activity. The adrenal glands respond to stress by releasing hormones such as epinephrine, cortisol and nor epinephrine. These hormones are typically triggered when we experience emotions like anger or fear and cause an increase in heart rate and blood pressure—and a temporary boost of energy by stimulating the liver to release sugar into our blood stream. Cortisol is the adrenal hormone that is essen-tial to responding to more prolonged periods of stress such as intense exercise, infection, injuries and emo-tional stress. Other hormones produced by the adren-als promote muscle tissue growth and recovery, regu-late our body fluid and electrolyte balance, and pro-duce small amounts of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. The adrenal glands may be small in size but they are MIGHTY in their function. They are liter-ally vital to our basic human needs. When we remain chronically stressed, whether it’s physical, emotional, financial or other stress, these glands get fatigued and leads to impaired hormone production and balance. The body is then inadequate-ly prepared to cope with new stressors, let alone the consistent daily stressors and schedule of the typical
American. The adrenal glands work in conjunction with the thyroid, ovaries, testes and pituitary glands. When one gland malfunctions it often affects the oth-ers. This makes the source difficult to pinpoint be-cause the symptoms often overlap. It’s important to assess the functioning of all of these glands with your healthcare professional. In addition to supporting hormonal balance with natural supplements and occasionally bio-identical hormones, lifestyle factors must be addressed. We live in a society that is always on the go. We are constantly taking on more tasks than we can handle. We often say things like, “I don’t have time for a vacation,” or when do I have time to exercise?” These things should be part of the schedule, not to be neglected. I once heard a comedian joke about microwave instructions on a Poptart. It reads, “Microwave Poptart for three seconds.” Really? If we only have three seconds to prepare breakfast, we are doing something very wrong. The important thing to understand about ourselves is that we do have control over some of the stressors in our lives. We CAN delegate tasks, take time for prayer or meditation, engage in moderate levels of exercise, get regular sleep and maintain good nutri-
tion. If you have come to the realization that your adrenal glands are functioning at a less than optimal level, there are some foods you should absolutely avoid: high fat foods, artificial sweeteners, caffeine, refined carbohydrates and especially SUGAR. These foods actually interfere with your adrenal gland func-tion. Now remember, I said moderate exercise. You can actually exercise too much or too intensely and fatigue the adrenal glands even further. The bottom line is this: we do have control over some aspects of our lives. The goal is to be proactive and responsible when it comes to overall health. So keep those yearly physicals with your primary care provider. Tell them about the stressors in your life, both daily and intermittent. Tell them about any re-cent injuries or infections. Discuss nutrition and stress management. All of these factors play a part in the overall functioning of your body as a physiological system and your emotional health as well. Become an active participant in your healthcare decisions and remember, no one can know your body better than YOU.

Color Your Life: Awakening to Color and Consciousness with Crystals
A s spring arrives, the palette of colors comes into bloom again. As the sun returns to the sign of Aries to stir an-other level of awareness, so
do the colors of life. The renewal at this time of year brings about the coloring of eggs from an old tradition. Closets of clothes change - from the darker tones of browns, blacks, and burned orange to the pastels of blue, pink, yellow, purple and green – to reflect the season. Each season and cycle of life brings out different shades, tones, gems and colors. In the seasons of life, we change as well as the favored color and gemstone. When I was a child, bright red was my favorite color. Now as an adult, cobalt blue is my favorite color. I wear cobalt framed eye glasses, drink from cobalt blue quaffs, use a blue iPhone cover, wear a sapphire ring and wear a lot of cobalt shirts. The color keeps me calm and aligned with higher consciousness. Choose your wardrobe and gemstone jew-elry for the day based upon the desired outcome of planned activities. Do you take
notice of the color of the clothes of a friend to encourage understanding? You might notice their gemstone jewelry: but, do you know why they chose that ring or bracelet today? You can “read” others by the colors they wear. Colors and gems influence the way we feel, act and react to others. The colors you are drawn to are revealing. The same is true with the gemstone jewelry as well as the colors of the foods. Colors show the need for comfort and love or the need to be heard. They show when it’s time to get motivated and take action or the need for more time in contemplation and prayer. Whether it is the color of your clothes, the walls of your office or the food you eat – wear it, paint it, eat it, or admire it with a matching intention. Everything vibrates. All vibration has a sound and a color associated. All thoughts create reality. Match the colors and gem-stones that you wear or carry with the thoughtforms that create your desired outcome and watch a beautiful reality unfold. What colors and crystal do you choose
to aid you throughout this next cycle? Choose from the colors of the rainbow to help you make more conscious choices in the way you dress and in all that you do. Chakras — the energy centers of our body, mind and spirit - can be aligned from head to toe by matching your intention with the color of your outfit and accesso-ries. Brown, black and red for power, ground-ing and focus. Choose black tourma-line or garnet.
Orange, to birth those great ideas into reality. Carnelian and orange calcite facilitate this intention.
Yellow to shine your magnificence and fabulosity. Use citrine and golden to-paz to polish up your self-confidence.
Green and pink to be compassionate and kind. With jade and rose quartz in hand, open your heart.
Blues to express your authentic self with wisdom. Adorn your neck with aqua-marine and turquoise to allow the Di-vine to speak through you.
Purple to bring forth inspired living. Amethyst encourages intuition.

T he traditional Chiles en Eogada is from Puebla, Mexico, and was created to help celebrate the inde-pendence of their country.
The dish was prepared, for the first time to entertain Agustín de Iturbide on his return from receiving Mexico's dec-laration from Spain. The colors of this authentic cuisine represent those of the Mexican flag (red, green & white), as well. Executive Chef Diego Rios Torre remains true to this tradition with his signature dish “In the Kitchen with Bonnie” at Frida’s Contempo-rary Mexican Cuisine.

D iet and nutrition studies have hit the news big this year. The Primary Pre-vention of Cardio-
vascular Disease with a Mediterra-nean Diet study has received much attention. However, I don’t get too excited about studies, especially ones addressing diet and nutrition, until I read them because I often come to different conclusions. This is certainly the case with the Medi-terranean Diet study. Two versions of the Mediterra-nean diet, one consuming at least ¼ cup of extra virgin olive oil per day in addition to cooking oil and another consuming about ¼ cup of a mix of hazelnuts, almonds and walnuts, were compared to a low fat diet. However the diet of the low fat group contained 37 percent fat, about the same as the Mediter-ranean diet groups. At HealthSpan, we consider 35 percent fat to be normal and 20 percent to be low. Dean Ornish, MD, renowned for showing that a very low fat diet, exercise and meditation can re-verse heart disease, recommends 10 percent fat. The low fat group was not following a low fat diet. The primary source of fat in the low fat group was milk products, at least three servings daily. Dairy promotes inflammation and im-mune system dysfunction that can lead to heart disease and stroke. The authors acknowledge issues with monitoring the compliance of the control group. They received initial training, then a pamphlet once a year to remind them how to eat. The Mediterranean diet groups received initial training and quar-terly monitoring. About halfway through the trial, the authors real-ized this might skew the results. Thereafter the low fat group re-ceived the same quarterly monitor-
ing that the Mediterranean diet groups. Even so, the low fat group was encouraged to eat at least 2 servings of vegetables per day, but only half did so. About 65 percent of the Mediterranean diet groups did. The difference in heart protec-tive and inflammation reducing phytonutrients from vegetables could have affected the results. So basically, this study com-pared the standard western diet to the Mediterranean diet. So what? We know the standard western diet is a recipe for chronic disease, in-cluding heart disease and stroke. The authors performed some statistical sleight of hand in order to reach their conclusion. Did they do that because corporations do-nated the olive oil and nuts to the study? The data shows that there was no significant reduction in heart attacks, death from cardio-vascular causes, or death from any cause. There was a significant re-duction in death from stroke. Only when these results were pooled could they say there was a reduc-tion in cardiovascular causes. We live in world that requires a large study to make the changes that at some level we all know we need to make. But if we really want to figure out the best diet to pre-vent and reverse chronic illness, we need to do better than this study.

The “You” Metaphysics
I n 2012, the realm of metaphysics and
everyday life was teaming with predic-
tions, revelations, theories, prophecies
and timelines. December 21st came
and went, energy moved, many things
changed, some things did not change, and yet,
here we are. What could this mean for metaphys-
ics? What does this mean for us as individuals?
What does this mean for us collectively? What
should we focus on now?
One of the Merriam-Webster definitions of
metaphysics is: a study of what is outside objec-
tive experience. Yet, as a collective mainstream,
we experience a great deal of focus on the objec-
tive part of our existence. A focus on money, war,
housing, drama, headlines, deadlines and time-
lines pervades our media circuits. Amidst all of
the chaos, many of us are sensing and feeling that
things have shifted and continue to shift. We have
been dancing in the field of the subjective. We are
shifting our gaze to look upon money, war and
drama as energy exchange; and, time has some-
how become less rigid and less definitive. We are
aware of more than simply tangible things. We
are exploring the spaces in between object reality.
As we individually become aware of what exists in
our minds, we identify our thoughts through feel-
ings, senses and intuition. We become able to
distinguish the ideas and thoughts that resonate
with us versus those that are not our truth. The
recognition that we created our reality as a mani-
festation of our thoughts gives rise to accepting
increased ownership and accountability, and
more significantly, the desire to let go the thought
-bound existence and live from the heart and
highest self. This is the foundation of “you” meta-
physics.
Take a moment to review what is happening
around us at this time. We now have access to
volumes of information through the internet
which has exploded over the last three decades.
Where once much of our experience took place
through central authority figures such as priests,
doctors and teachers; we are now able to make
more independent and more informed decisions.
We are educating ourselves. And many in these
traditionally authoritative fields are shifting their
practices to holistic partnerships. Where once we
may have abandoned our own authority for that
of another, or even the collective authority, we are
now invited to do our own creative thinking and
trust ourselves. One by one, as we own, explore
and honor our unique truth—the collective truth
also shifts.
To journey into “you” metaphysics, here are
some applicable steps to exploring and honoring
your truth:
• Find a quiet and relaxing spot, ensure your
body is in a comfortable position, close your
eyes and begin to focus upon your breath. As
thoughts arise, no matter what they are,
acknowledge them with love and release them
into your breath. For the thoughts you would
like to keep, breathe them in on the inhale
breath. For the thoughts you would like to
release, breathe them out on the exhale
breath.
• Spend some time in nature and immerse
yourself in the sights, sounds and smells. As
you sit comfortably or even walk along a
wooded path, allow your thoughts and feel-
ings to come to the surface. As you take in-
ventory of what arises, take note of which
represent your truth and which do not. For
those thoughts and feelings you would like to
keep, let them fill your senses and blend with
the wonder of nature around you. For those
you would like to release, visualize them go-
ing down into the ground, deep into the core
of the planet, where Mother Earth transforms
them for the highest good of the collective.
The important piece with these exercises is to
be gentle, honest, and compassionate with your-
self. Allow the thoughts and emotions to flow un-
til you are comfortable and at peace simply
“being”. This is your journey, and you have full
authority over it. You get to choose what to do,
when to do it, and how to do it. You are the ex-
plorer of your soul.
Could these journeys in the “you” metaphysics,
the true exploration of your highest self, be the
path to oneness? How could we all be “one” when
each of us expresses our talents and skills so
uniquely? One of us finds truth in nature, another
in music, yet another in prayer, and so on. Our
thoughts and feelings are as diverse and expan-
sive as the universe itself. Yet, could this be the
key? As each of us discovers and stands in our
individual truths, perhaps the collective also
evolves toward truth, and then, the universe it-
self…truth…oneness. Will you accept the invita-
tion for the journey into “you” metaphysics? Will
you live your soul’s truth?

Creativity and Metaphysics
“We are the art and the artist.”
—Greg Braden, The Divine Matrix\
M etaphysics is
the inquiry of
things unseen,
things beyond
the physi-
cal. We each create our own unique indi-
vidual lives by giving meaning to the expe-
riences in our lives.
Thoughts, attitudes and beliefs are the
building materials with which we shape
our reality, as the skilled hands of the pot-
ter shape clay. Awareness of our thoughts,
attitudes and beliefs is the first step to dis-
covering what exactly makes us happy,
what gives us joy and satisfaction…and
what keeps our happiness from us. The
way we perceive, interpret, react and re-
spond to situations in our life creates our
unique personality. As infants and children
we learn how to interpret and react to situ-
ations by mirroring the reactions of our
caregivers. As we mature, we observe the
reactions of others and perhaps choose to
interpret and respond in different ways.
The creative process for metaphysi-
cians is mind, idea, manifestation. First we
get an inspiration, a thought, and we pro-
cess that spark of an idea into a plan. Then
we manifest the idea into an experience, a
new way of perceiving reality, a tool, a
piece of art or any other new thing or situa-
tion we desire or need.
When we look around at our lives, do
we recognize our creation? Did we con-
sciously create our circumstances; or did
we unwittingly create the situation in
which we currently find our self? Even if
we are victims of circumstance, gaining
awareness and consciously choosing our
thoughts in response to a situation is the
use of our creative power—which can
transform our life.
Do I think the Universe is a friendly,
supportive place and that life is on my side
or do I think that life is hard, a struggle and
most people never get what they want out
of life, or do I believe that I am a
"creative" capable of achieving my
dreams? Do I think that some outside force
has power over my life or do I believe I am
the captain of my own ship?
Whichever way you think, knowing a
little about the ideas and principals of met-
aphysics can make your life better, maybe
a little happier and maybe a little easier.
The truth is life happens. But, if we
believe we are the captains of our ship,
through our free will, wisdom, skill and
passion--we can steer our ship by our re-
sponses to what the seas of life bring us. If
we are going through a storm, our skillful
navigation will get us through to our desti-
nation. The more we practice navigating
the more skilled we become.
Just as it is important for the captain
to know her ship’s destination, it is im-
portant to set goals and visualize the life
we want to create, build, grow, and mani-
fest. Then we choose the thoughts, inter-
pretations and responses (building materi-
als) that will create or transform the situa-
tion to one that can be a blessing to our-
selves and others.
A change in the outer is always pre-
ceded by a change in the inner. Our outer
circumstances can be transmuted by a
change in our thoughts, our thought pat-
terns. I hear people say, “I am thinking
about losing weight.” I think to myself,
“Good, keep thinking about it.” The same
is true for any other change we want or
need to make. When we want to create
something new in our lives, we think about
it before we begin. Even simple things like
cleaning out a closet, we think about it
before we begin. Sometimes our new pro-
ject turns out better than we had envi-
sioned. Ah, Grace!
Even when life happens and we find
ourselves in unpleasant or painful circum-
stances, our mind starts thinking, “What do
I do now?” Do we think, “I can do this, I
will figure out a way?” Or, are we over-
come with despair? We may find our-
selves in situations that we have a hard
time coping with. We make mistakes, or
we do things that we perceive as mis-
takes. We question our confidence. We
doubt ourselves. Sometimes we feel alien-
ated and alone, facing the unknown. What
can we grab to hold onto? What can we do
to make sense of our experience?
Faith is a way of life. It is continuing
on, looking for solutions to problems as
they arise on our adventure of life. To be a
metaphysician takes courage. We must be
willing to take responsibility for the way
we perceive, interpret and respond to the
experiences in our life. We must have the
courage to examine and build our own life
and our life’s meaning.
As metaphysicians we have every-
thing we need inside of us. We have our
thoughts, we have the ability to seek, to
ask questions. We create our own meaning
and perception of our life. We create our
attitudes, our goals and reality.
Being aware of the thousands of
thoughts and feelings, even the small, al-
most silent thoughts that we have each day
is the beginning of the creative pro-
cess. The more mindful we can be of our
thoughts and feelings, the clearer we can
see the fabric and foundation pn which we
have built our lives. Keep your mind on
the causality of life, your thoughts, feel-
ings, attitudes and beliefs. Give life every-
thing you’ve got. Dare to be creative and
live the great adventure.

EVOLVING… A GUIDE FOR CONSCIOUS LIVING 15 May 2013
O ur life often presents us with chal-
lenging situations and disasters.
These situations can create lots of
negative emotions in our mind: rage,
fear, pain, grief, loss, anxiety, insecu-
rity and uncertainty are only a few of them. Dealing
with these situations in life with so many negative emo-
tions is really difficult. The metaphysical law of attrac-
tion tells us about our magnetic nature. If we dwell in
negativity then we are attracting more negativity in our
life. We all want prosperity; but deep within, if we re-
main submerged in lower vibrations and negative emo-
tions… it is impossible for us to transform our life. That
is why the metaphysical law tells
us to shift our minds from lower
vibrations. How can we release
these negative emotions for relief?
You may connect with deep
breathing and silently bring your
mind to a calm state. As you relax
your mind, you can connect with
your inner guidance and become
self-reliant to feel better prepared
to accept the disruptive situations
in life. If you believe in any higher
power, you may connect with the
high vibrational energy to seek
calmness. To replace negative en-
ergies, you may breathe in the en-
ergy of safety and protection. Connecting with your
breathing, visualize your bubble (aura), the energy field
around your body; fill it with white or golden light. This
visualization can make you feel safe and protected. You
may also visualize the same protection bubble around
those dear to you. Prayer and meditation can bring
more power to your visualization.
Our life is made of energy in every level. During a
time of crisis, the energy around us becomes very nega-
tive, frictional and low vibrational. If you soak up with
low vibrational energy for a long time, then you are
actually magnetizing and drawing more of this similar
kind of energy. To change the pattern, it is always bene-
ficial to bring positive attitudes to mind. With trust,
hope and positive vibrations, it is usually easier to deal
with challenging situations. To bring positive vibes we
may look at our inner-self and appreciate our innate
nature of love. You may be doing your best when you
help others with love.
If you are spending long moments with worry and
anxiety, then please remember that your negative emo-
tions are absorbing your strength and clarity of mind.
Take time to observe your feelings and thoughts. If your
mind drifts to these low vibrational energies, then focus
on breathing out the negativity to keep your energy
matrix charged with higher vibes. It may be difficult at
the beginning; but, as you practice regularly you will
feel better.
As a stress relief therapist, I work with many people
to help them release trauma and all negative emotions
associated with it. These negative emotions and trau-
mas cause dysfunctional patterns in our subconscious
mind and cellular memories. My client Linda is work-
ing on her unhealthy emotions caused by an early life
trauma. When I first met her, she was very unhappy
with herself, had a great amount of fear and a lack of
trust in life in general. Even though she has a good job,
is young and very attractive, she had very little self-
confidence, felt lonely and perceived her future to be
extremely traumatic. I observed that her heart-center
was partly closed off with fear and she could not relate
to the energy of joy at all. People usually avoided her
because they wrongly sensed she was very cold. In spite
of her best efforts, Linda could not feel happy and se-
cure. This was a pattern that she had been experiencing
all through her life.
At the very first day of our therapy work, she ques-
tioned why her life was so empty. In our course of work,
I helped her to discover that her present life crisis is
linked with her early memory of trauma in her child-
hood. She had been exposed to a trauma and felt tre-
mendously helpless, fearful and insecure.
The memory of her suffering was vivid in Linda’s
mind. Therefore she had closed her heart in the fear of
being hurt. Linda agreed to work with me on opening
up her heart and letting go of past negative emotions. I
am now helping her with healing work using Hypno-
therapy, Theta Healing and Emotional Freedom Tech-
niques to open her heart in a safe environment, as it is
the most essential requirement for her self-
development. Linda has also been using meditation
programs for a couple of months and opening her sub-
conscious mind. Linda is making good progress and
feeling more calm within.
Like Linda, you can also take charge of your life.
With determination and persistence, you can make the
transformation. As you change your focus from negativ-
ity to gratitude--feeling that you are still surviving in
spite of all odds and becoming more appreciative of any
small goodness in life — your mental transformation
will be empowering. Please empow-
er yourself with gratitude, it will first
make you feel calm within and as
you practice remaining there, your
life will take some time to adjust
with your higher vibrational mind
set. But, as you are not creating low
vibrational clutter any more, you
will be in a better place to attract
prosperity in life.
Now, it is completely your re-
sponsibility to consciously make the
shift. Seek help if you feel over-
whelmed; but procrastination would
be counterproductive.

Metaphysics for Releasing Negative Emotions
EVOLVING… A GUIDE FOR CONSCIOUS LIVING 16 May 2013
Gemini (May 21 – June 20) You can start an amazing new rela-tionship, or a current one will feel renewed and revitalized. You’ll also have appreciation for yourself – be-cause you’re pretty awesome and life will reflect that to you! Prepare for these wonderful feelings by clearing your heart of old disappointments – especially meditate on how you pick on yourself. Ask the Universe for help to break your negativity addic-tion! Cancer (June 21 – July 22) Pay close attention to dreams, since you can receive guidance on how to be more fulfilled. In meditation, visualize situations that make you happy. This creative energy has the power to materialize. You might also re-connect with an old love, or even get involved with a forgotten hobby that makes you feel youthful and joyous. Remind yourself that you deserve to have fun. Make playtime a priority and a spiritual discipline! Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22) You’re about to draw fulfilling peo-ple and activities into your life. Meditation and clearing out memo-ries of old challenges makes room for the most “good stuff” possible. You have the power to confront your personality defects that keep you from being truly happy. Write about problems and patterns – then rip up the paper, or burn it to symbolize your freedom. Even if family mem-
bers are stuck in old “stuff”, you don’t have to inherit their “issues”! Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22) Be patient and quiet at work early this month. You could be frustrated about certain approaches or princi-ples of supervisors or colleagues. Mid-May things clear up and you’ll have breakthroughs with job, salary and how you’re perceived. Problem-atic people will be exposed and you won’t be involved. Use this same idea with family issues. Just medi-tate and visualize light on everyone concerned without getting em-broiled in their drama! Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22) If you feel tension in romantic or financial partnerships, take a breath and make sure to meditate. Arguing, pleading your case or worrying won’t be helpful. Focus on letting go of past issues that are making you feel panicky. Be as serene as possi-ble, and have faith that solutions will come mid-month! You’ll be able to trust again, and be relaxed in sig-nificant relationships. It’ll be clear the Universe is on your side and cares about your happiness! Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21) Any difficult circumstances in rela-tionships are showing up so you can heal trust issues. Don’t react emo-tionally, but go within, meditate and journal about your intense feelings. After your inner process, visualize
your hurts and doubts consumed in a forgiving fire that is purifying you heart. Mid-May will bring a flood of experiences that are safe, loving and enriching. You could even get unex-pected finances! Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21) Relationships are taking a huge step forward! You could meet someone wonderful if single, or have massive improvements in a current connec-tion. But, in order to get the most healing and happiness, meditate on letting go of petty irritations that make you less warm and receptive. Whether about yourself, family, work or life in general, focus on gratitude and tolerance! You’ll at-tract the best possible outcomes! Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19) Watch for negative thinking when struggling in relationships. You have more in common with your partner than your able to see right now. If single, there are lots of interesting people out there! Meditate on abun-dance so you see things more posi-tively. Use affirmations. Also, eat well so your moods aren’t low from bad foods. Mid-month your attitude lifts and life will seem amazingly better! Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18) You’re about to break through dys-functional patterns learned in child-hood that hold you back from truly enjoying life to the fullest! You’re a
fixed sign, and not a free-minded as you’d like to think – but the energies this month make you feel safer to step outside your box. You’ll be able to bond more deeply, feel a fuller sense of joy without cynicism. You’ll be more in your heart and less in your head. Still super smart – but also fully present and gentle without awkwardness. Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20) If you feel your spiritual practice is stale, try changing things up. Fresh avenues to your intuition open if you put something new in the medi-tation area of your house. Or try a different area altogether. You might have your quiet time outside – or experiment with a new yoga class. Try meditating with close family members, friends or your spouse. By the end of the month you’ll feel reig-nited in this area! Aries (March 21 – April 19) The first half of May, take care of any lingering financial issues. Also meditate and see if you have resent-ments that are causing lack of trust or cynicism. Clear away these con-cerns that are draining you on a subtle, yet powerful level. Mid-month new energy comes in that will bring cheerful people and atti-tudes. But you need to be fully cleansed of tension to fully enjoy the blessings ahead! May 2013
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
Happy birthday Taurus! May gets off to a slow start, but hang in there for exciting surprises! Mars and Saturn might make you frustrated and feel like things aren’t going your way – or that people are blocking your success. Meditate each day to channel your tension and forgive circumstances, so you’ll be open to re-ceive upcoming blessings. By mid-month, you’ll connect with people easier and needs will be fulfilled. You could also get ex-tra money unexpectedly!
