Have a “Peachy Keen” Time in Atlanta…and at the Friends of AIRS Auction By Francie KranzbergChair, Friends of AIRS

With so much to see and do right outside the door of our hotel, we are all sure to have a great time at this year’s AIRS Annual I&R Training and Education Conference. We will have access to many of the best I&R trainers who are giving their time and efforts as workshop presenters, we will be able to look at new products, learn more about those we already use and network with the vendors in the Exhibit Hall, and we will have a great time at our Georgia Aquarium dinner on Monday night. And, thanks to your generosity at past conferences, there are six people attending this year’s conference who wouldn’t otherwise be here. They are our scholarship recipients, and their attendance is funded by the money raised through the Friends of AIRS.

Just how does the Friends of AIRS raise the money to fund scholarships? Well, through our popular, priceless, and “Peachy Keen”, silent auction. Bring an item – or two or three – something fun, funky and/or fabulous. It can be something that is unique to your area, for instance a basket of food specialties make in your home town, a wooden bowl from that artist you discover at the craft fair you are going to next week, or even a gift certificate for a massage or a meal at a national chain. If you have a skill such as jewelry making or pottery then bring your own handmade items. If you forget to bring something or just can’t fit another item into your suitcase, then great shopping is just steps away from the hotel. The possibilities are endless!

And don’t think you have to just to donate an item (or two) by yourself. Bring something from your agency (after all, it may be one of your co-workers who gets a scholarship next year), or from your AIRS Affiliate (Chapter).

Join us on Tuesday, June 3 from 7:30 – 9 p.m. at the hotel for the Peachy Keen Dessert Networking Reception and Friends of AIRS Auction. Have fun mingling with friends both new and not-so-new, bid on some wonderful auction items, and know that you are “paying it forward” by supporting the scholarships.

Auction items will be accepted and displayed at the Friends of AIRS booth in the Exhibit Hall from the Opening Reception on Sunday through Tuesday afternoon. Bidding will begin as soon as an item is put on display and will end at the Peachy Keen event on Tuesday evening. Thank you for your support!
