At this time we continue to work from home, at least through May 15th, staying in touch with you through Zoom meetings, FaceBook, Instagram and other social media outlets as well as the traditional email, phone, mail, and text. You will continue to find many interactive FaceBook posts on our San Juan County 4-H page with judging classes, 4-H activities, educational videos, informational links and webinars, as well as many other resources to help you stay engaged and informed. Requested 4 -H project materials are being mailed directly to members so that you can begin your project work at home. On-line projects continue to be emailed to families via Google Docs. Reach out to the project leaders listed in the newsletter with your specific questions or contact Zane to discuss livestock projects. Shelly can assist you with home economics or general project related questions as you prepare your fair exhibits. The 4-H indoor rules, classes and pre-registration form are posted on our county website shown above and on the San Juan County Fair website. Unfortunately our usual face-to-face summer 4-H events and activities, that were scheduled through the first week of August, will not be taking place this year. However at this time the San Juan County Fair Board is planning for the fair, which will begin with 4-H indoor entries on August 8th and livestock entering the fair grounds on August 9th. The fair board and barn superintendents will handle the fair livestock tag-ins on the dates listed below. Hope to SEE you at the fair! Citizenship Washington Focus

Although our San Juan County 4-H delegation has had to postpone their trip to the Washington, DC

area until June 2021 they look forward to participating in this once in a life time event with other 4-H youth from throughout the nation. The

group is continuing their fundraising efforts in order to meet their $2200 per member goal.

The group’s 50/50 raffle drawing has

been extended to County Fair in August. Multiple winners will split half the

proceeds!

NEW “WORKING WITH MINORS” TRAINING required FOR

ALL VOLUNTEER LEADERS

The adult 4-H enrollment process cannot move forward until the training has been completed.

Go to 4h.zsuite.org (Use Safari or Chrome) Sign up in the bottom right corner of screen.

Register a new household with one pin.

Select “Clover Academy” to launch training.

Must pass with a score of 80% on quiz

Send an email to the Extension Office to let us know you have completed the training.

State 4-H Leadership Team Applications Due June 1

Qualified senior age members are encouraged to complete a State 4-H leadership Team application

found on the State 4-H website at: https://aces.nmsu.edu/4h/state-youth-leadership.html

Eligibility and Expectations Any mature, devoted NM senior 4-H’er who will remain an

eligible 4-H member during the year of service, being July 2020—July 2021. The candidate must be an active 4-H member in good standing with his or her club and council.

Member must have attended one of the following statewide 4-H events in order to run. (State 4-H Conference, YGA and/or Sr. Leadership Retreat)

If a State 4-H Leadership Team member if of high school age, he/she is expected to remain in good academic standing with his/her school while serving in that capacity. Due to absences involved, candidates must be able to maintain good grades

and positive relationships with school administrators and instructors.

All State 4-H Leadership Team members must abide by the NM State 4-H Code of Conduct.

Willingness to still perform the role of State 4-H Leadership Team member after his/her term is complete upon request of the State 4-H Office or a particular county.

State 4-H Leadership Team members are permitted to participate in one competitive event during State 4-H

Conference is it does not conflict with responsibilities. Must have also served as a club and county council officer in

order to develop leadership qualities needed for a state officer or ambassador position. (San Juan County policy)

Requirements to Participate in 4-H Rodeo MUST COMPLETE EMT SAFETY TRAINING BEFORE

COMPETING IN RODEOS

Rodeo Waiver must be completed and on file in the

Extension Office.

Current year 4-H enrollment, code of conduct and

medical release must be on file in Extension Office.

Enroll in mandatory rodeo insurance program and

pay the required fee.

Rodeo entries & fees must be received by the rodeo

secretary by the posted deadline, which is 10 days before each rodeo. NO LATE ENTRIES ACCEPTED!
