QUESTIONABLE DIAGNOSISMany people with Lyme disease first received a chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia or psychiatric diagnosis. These diagnoses are based purely on symptoms—not on any valid test or biomarkers of disease.

WHY CAN’T LYME BE DIAGNOSED THE SAME WAY?Since 1994 there has been a concerted effort by the CDC, Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and American Lyme Disease Foundation, Inc. (ALDF.com) to divert Lyme patients into alternate diagnoses such as CFS or fibromyalgia. There are no cures for these conditions; only drugs to treat the symptoms.

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?Two reasons.

1) These are all diseases of immunosuppression. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) refers to the disease mechanism as “post-sepsis syndrome.”

After a septic event, such as a severe reaction to a tick bite, an infection, or vaccine reaction, the immune system is down-regulated to prevent death from sepsis. However, the long-term consequences include reactivated herpesviruses and multiple opportunistic infections, which lead to chronic conditions

commonly referred to as chronic Lyme, CFS, fibromyalgia, and Gulf War Illness. (See http://actionlyme.org/lyme_suppression for data from multiple research groups.)

Currently larger studies are underway to address this immune system damage. A preliminary study with a cancer and leukemia drug shows a 67% cure rate. With your help, we hope to expand awareness of the science.

2) The current Lyme testing protocol endorsed by the CDC was fraudulently put in place to qualify the LYMErix vaccine, which they knew to be the exact

opposite of a vaccine. This testing misses 85% of all cases and nearly 100% of the neurologic cases. Long-term antibiotics, the most popular treatment, do not seem to help most patients.

Lyme and the co-infections seem to be more about immune system damage (Coyle, PK, Dattwyler, RJ, et al, SUNY-SB), reactivated viruses and opportunistic infections of all kinds.
