CTS Monoblock RF Filters
Cellular Base Station
CTS is the inventor of monoblock ceramic filter technology. We hold
over 70 patents covering all aspects of monoblock filter design and
manufacturing. Ceramic monoblock filters offer major advantages over
competing technologies such as coaxial resonator filters.
• Lower Price• Smaller Size• Higher Reliability (MTTF> 400 years) • Best-in-Class Performance
CTS has the large selection of high performance filters designed Cellular
base stations—covering all major protocols including, AMPS, DCS,
WCDMA, CDMA, GMS, EGSM, and TDSCDMA.
Our monoblock RF Filters are optimized for superior performance
depending on where (Rx or Tx) they are required.
• Macro Base Stations typically have 6 to 12 transceivers per base
station with each transceiver requiring 3 band pass filters. For these
filters, we optimize ripple and attenuation while maintaining good
insertion loss electrical performance.
• Micro and Pico Base Stations typically have one transceiver per base
station with one band pass filter on each the Tx and Rx side. For TX
filtering, we offer filters with low insertion loss and for the Rx side
we offer filters with low ripple performance. Customers migrating
to a multi-transceiver architecture should reference our Actiplex™
product line.

CTS monoblock filters can be optimized for specific applications,
opening the way for truly customizing product development. We have
been on the forefront of these developments from the very beginning;
providing the largest selection on monoblock filters in the industry.
Select a filter that closely matches your needs and contact us. We can
customize that filter to your specific performance requirements and have
samples delivered within 4 weeks.
Current R&D projects are focusing on high power, high performance
monoblock filter designs, which are capable of displacing air cavity filters
in many applications.

CTS has the largest selection of monoblock RF filters for broadband
wireless on the market today. With over 65 standard filters to choose
from, we offer the best selection of size, frequency and performance,
including frequencies as high as 5.8 GHz.
• Broadband Wireless Markets:
- WiMAX
- WiFi Mesh Networks
• Extended Frequency up to 6 GHz:
- WiMAX › U.S. - 2.5 GHz › Europe - 3.5 GHz › S. Korea - 2.3 GHz (rest of Asia uses a mixture of the 3) › Currently designed into CPE’s, PC cards and base stations
- WiFi Mesh Networks: › 2.45 GHz › 5.8 GHz
• Unique filter design allows for a single footprint across all three
WiMAX frequencies, enabling board reuse
• Currently designed into both indoor and outdoor units
Actiplex™ Monoblock RF Filters
ActiPlex™ — A “disruptive” filtering technology that can enable designs
of single board, multi-band micro cell base station or multi-band remote
radio head architectures.
• ActiPlex™ is a system enabler for designers through the use of a
family of duplexers and filters that gives superior performance
combined with premium space saving, enabling smaller base station
platforms.
• Filter Characteristics:
- Average Power Rating of 10 W to 20 W - 7.5 to 1 Peak-to-Average power ratio
- Board Mounted design enabling significant size reduction & alternate design strategy
- Flexible choice of BPF and Duplexers to meet different filter response
• The main application of the Actiplex™ product line is to provide
front-end filters for base station with power ratings between 10 W
and 30 W with up to 200 W peaks—an economical alternative to
standard air cavity filters.

TCAS and InMarSat Monoblock FiltersCTS has a large selection of high performance filters designed
specifically for TCAS and InMarSat.
TCAS is an aircraft collision avoidance system designed to reduce the
incidence of mid-air collisions. TCAS transponders operate at 1030 MHz
and 1090 MHz.
InMarSat is a publicly owned company that owns and operates a con-
stellation of satellites that provide mobile communications to maritime,
aeronautical and land-based customers. Operating frequencies are
1525 MHz – 1559 MHz and 1626.5 MHz – 1660.5 MHz.
• Primary performance drivers: - Power - support applications up to 1,000 watts - Low insertion loss
- Improved filter symmetry resulting in superior signal to noise performance
• Monoblock construction advantages: - Better reliability (MTTF > 400 years) - Ease in handling and assembly

Low Ripple Filters for Repeaters
CTS offers over 15 standard duplexers and 50 standard band pass filters
with industry leading low ripple performance.
Repeaters cascade filters and amplifiers in order to boost the RF signal.
Most repeaters cascade filters in series with an amplifier in between
them to achieve the rejection that is required. Points to consider:
• Ripple and rejection are additive when filters are in series
• Too little rejection will cause signal distortion
• Too much ripple will reduce the distance a repeater will transmit due to introducing more loss into the system
CTS Low Ripple Filters offer superior electrical performance:
• Low Ripple – as low as 0.3 db over the entire passband resulting in reduced distortion and dropped calls due to amplified signal from cascade.
• High Rejection – as high as 50 db reduces the affect of amplified attenuation caused by cascading filters and amplifiers
• “Best in Class” ripple-to-rejection performance ratios
• Frequency ranges from 800 MHz to 5.6 GHz
• Monoblock Construction - better reliability (MTTF > 400 years), ease in handling and assembly
