opportunities

The country’s leading regional running magazine for quality and commitment of its audience

Every month, Northwest Runner’s informative editorial content features important running tips and

advice, profiles of exceptional running people and their accomplishments, the region’s best-read

running activity calendar, as well as news, views, and reviews—all written by local writers with a

local flavor. This high-quality editorial allows Northwest Runner to wield enormous influence over

reader decisions ranging from which shoes to buy to which races to run.

Northwest Runner should be your first choice for reaching this important audience with advertising

messages for running and fitness related events, products, and services

Advertisers reach over 14,000 active people each month through Northwest Runner — 90% within

Washington State. Readers get Northwest Runner through the mail, at newsstands and running

stores, and at races where the magazine is selectively sampled. Every high school running coach in

the state is mailed a copy each month. Great audiences for your advertising message!

Your race literature in the hands of the hottest audience

As a vital part of the local running and walking community, Northwest Runner

attends dozens of races and special events each year — along with our race

advertisers’ literature. Almost every weekend of the year sees our booth at an event,

from a local 5K to a major race Expo. Race participants eagerly pick up sample copies

of the magazine as well as advertisers’ race literature. In addition, Northwest Runner

sends a selected number of advertisers’ race literature to each running store in the

state every month. This unique service lets you reach your best prospects in yet

another effective and exciting way. There is nothing as effective as having your race

information in front of an enthusiastic group of runners and walkers looking for their

next event.

in person

on lineFast-growing new way to reach a whole new audience

Northwest Runner’s website delivers the most of what people want from an online

running site: results and schedules. Results from every race in our schedule are

posted as soon after the race as they are available, along with photos and stories

whenever possible.

The schedule is updated regularly as new races are added. Advertising races are

given extra exposure in the “Featured Races” web page. In addition, the Northwest

Runner website features news and race stories from all over region as well as national

news that affects local runners and walkers. From reports from local athletes in

international competitions to news about a local store opening, the Northwest

Runner website covers it all with the unique Northwest Runner style and substance.

Northwest Runner’s Facebook page is a gateway to our magazine and website, and

forms its own community as well. Readers engage and interact with each other on

the site — with Northwest Runner as a backdrop.

Bleed Ads ExplainedNorthwest Runner is printed on big sheets of paper, then folded, stapled, and trimmed.

It’s best to allow for trimming tolerances by making sure “live matter”—important graphic elements—is 1/4" inside the trim margin.

That means final ad size you send us must be 8.750 x 11.125 but the important parts of the ad that you don’t want trimmed off must be within a 8.250 x 10.625 area.
