This is the front cover to an issue of ‘Metal Hammer Magazine’. The target audience for this would appear to be mostly males with the odd female exception, aged approximately 15+ years and have an interest in this specific genre of music. It attracts the target audience with the fluorescent spelling of a specific band that the reader may enjoy and it has an interesting image in the background which would also attract the attention of potential readers. The semiotics of the name ‘Metal Hammer’

This is the front cover of a ‘Toxic’ magazine. The target audience for this magazine could possibly be male children aged approximately 9-12 years with an interest in children's television shows such as ‘Ben 10’, ‘Teen Titans’, Etc. It attracts the target audience first with the large image on the character Animal from ‘The Muppets’. This would attract the target audience as they would see the image and think that it looks ‘cool’, so they will want to buy it. The title is also written to attract attention as it is made to look like some form of toxic gunk that children could think looks good. It also has a competition written in a large font to attract attention, which would excite the kids with the opportunity to win an extravagant prize.

This is the cover of ‘Time’ magazine. I would guess that the target audience of this magazine would be both male and female adults aged approximately 22+ years and would have an interest in Politics. The cover of this magazine grabs the target audiences attention with the large image of the American President, Barack Obama. This shows us instantly that the main story inside this issue will be based upon American Politics which the target audience would possibly find intriguing. Next to the image of Obama, the words ‘The Next President’ are written in bold, which would pull the target audience further into the story of American Politics which this issue is based around. In the top left corner, there is an image of an explosion with the words ‘Nuclear Rogues’ written in bold next to it. This could intrigue even more people as they could be scared into reading about what is happening.

This is the cover of ‘Wired’ magazine. The target audience for this magazine could possibly be both men and women aged 20+ years and they would have an interest in science/science fiction. The target audience would be attracted to this due to the general look of the cover. It is a mixture of both silver and white and has an image of Will Ferrell wearing a futuristic suit and headset. This would appeal to Sci-Fi fans as it looks futuristic. Those interested in Science/Sci-Fi would also be attracted to this magazine by the words ‘The Future’ written in bold underneath the image of Will Ferrell.

This is the cover of ‘Cosmopolitan’ magazine. The target audience for this would most likely be women aged 18-35 years and have an interest in their appearance and gossip. The target audience would be attracted to this by the image of the young, attractive woman wearing the attractive-looking pink dress. This would attract them as they would aspire to look like the woman shown so they would buy the magazine hoping to get tips. It would also appeal to women who’s sex lives aren’t what they want them to be. I think this because in bold it is written “Best. Sex. Ever” which would intrigue the target audience to try and get them to purchase it.
