Don't forget to report diagnosed illnesses
With all the talk about illness in the news, I wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone about our Illness Reporting Procedures.
The goal of this policy is to enable all children to participate as healthy individuals. We follow the Center for Disease Control and our local Health Department guidelines on what diagnosed contagious conditions require exclusion from school and also for which contagious conditions require posting and notification. The goal of these postings and notifications is to let families know about symptoms of contagious illnesses early for families to seek care. Our goal is to have kids in class that are well enough to participate, again following CDC and public health guidance on when children should stay home.
REMEMBER: If a child in a class is diagnosed with a communicable disease the center staff needs to notify our Health Services department and your site manager right away. We must post for the diagnosed illness within 24 hours of learning of it. Health will provide those postings for each diagnosis. We need you to notify Health Services of all diagnosis for our tracking needs. If a second child in the same class is diagnosed with the same illness as another child, Health needs to be notified again and we will initiate that you send out a copy of the Illness letter to each family in that class, in addition to having it posted at the center. You should email the Health Supervisor that covers your center as well as the Health Director.
Staff Illness: diagnosed contagious conditions for staff need to be reported to the staff person’s supervisor who will let HR know. HR will determine if any additional measures are taken.
You can also refer to our Policy “Illness and Injury: Short -Term Medical Exclusion and Long-Term Medical Accommodation”

On February 13th, the Phoenix/Talent AM class had a “Red Day” to celebrate friendship! Many thanks to
Virginia Grimes, Teacher; and Margarita Leon, TA. (Note: We do not have parental permission to show the
faces of two children, so their identities are being protected).
Microsoft Teams
If you've been using Office 365 from the website, you might have noticed one of the links on your dashboard is for Microsoft Teams. This is what has effectively replaced the Skype for Business software we had been using in the past, and it bears more than a passing resemblance to Discord - another popular piece of communications software used all over the world today. With Teams, you can keep in touch with entire groups of staff such as the people you work with at a center. You can also schedule and attend meetings, or just leave a message for a person or group. The program is very flexible, and while I'm only learning it myself, I'm immediately seeing the value in it. Instant messaging, file sharing, meetings - Teams will allow you to keep in touch with important people and stay informed as things happen in your center or work group. Since it's integrated into Office 365, it can also be used anywhere.
I've found a number of tutorials and videos you all can use to get up to speed:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/enduser-training
I'd strongly recommend you all take a look at these videos and quickstart guides - it's likely use of Teams will be increasing in the agency, so you'll want to start learning it just like I am.
