Chad Matthews attended many universities in his college years. Some of the colleges he attended are OSU, Western Oregon, Linn Benton Community College, Portland State, and Seattle Pacific. Mr. Matthews has been teaching for seventeen year and out of twelve of those years he has been educating children at Philomath Middle School. One of the many things he often said to my seventh grade literature class was, “If you don’t try in life, you will live in a van down by the river... or a box.” Haylie Bennett once said “He is the coolest teacher to walk the Earth” and Madison Caples said, “He is cooler than beans... but then again, I don’t really like beans all that much. So he is cooler than muffins.”

Mr. Matthews is such a great teacher because he makes classes fun and engaging! He develops great relationships with his classes, and teaches you how to excel in life. He taught me to enjoy the little things, and to always give it your all.
