Course Syllabus : Management Accounting Textbooks : Financial and Managerial Accounting by Warren, Reeve and Fess ^th edition Managerial Accounting by David Marshall Accounting Text and Cases by Anthony and Reece Course Description: Accounting methods and techniques utilized by corporations, cost systems, budgeting, and the utilization of accounting data for cost accounting decision making, and planning and control. Course Objectives: At the end of the course, the professional or student will have the following capabilities: 1. Strong appreciation managerial decision making processes and the use of accounting information by the managers of a business. 2. Recognize and comprehend the various components of a company’s Financial Statements 3. Apply cost concepts used in special management decisions and capital budgeting 4. Understand activity – based costing analysis 5. Know relevant costing for managerial decision 6. Understand the time value of money. Course mechanics and Requirement The course will be delivered through lectures, case discussions, and oral presentation of students reports on a particular subject matter that will be assigned. Course Description:

Accounting methods and techniques utilized by corporations, cost systems, budgeting, and the utilization of accounting data for cost accounting decision making, and planning and control.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the course, the professional or student will have the following capabilities:

1. Strong appreciation managerial decision making processes and the use of accounting information by the managers of a business.

2. Recognize and comprehend the various components of a company’s Financial Statements3. Apply cost concepts used in special management decisions and capital budgeting4. Understand activity – based costing analysis5. Know relevant costing for managerial decision6. Understand the time value of money.

Course mechanics and Requirement

The course will be delivered through lectures, case discussions, and oral presentation of students reports on a particular subject matter that will be assigned. Case discussions and student participation will be graded. Each written case analysis shall be submitted for grading(Case analysis method will be followed). A term paper shall be required from each student. An appropriate final examination will be given at end of the semester.
