The national radio, France Musique, opened its live broadcast concert season 2009 giving ‘carte blanche’ to the composer-bassist band leader. As director of studies at the Musical Institute of Professional Training in Salon de Provence since 1990, Michel Zenino is a renowned jazz educator and has run workshops and given masterclasses all over the world, from the National Superior Music Conservatoire in Paris to Almati’s National Conservatoire of Kazakhstan via the prestigious Trinity College, Dublin. Michel has also recently been chosen as coordinator and consultant for the new superior jazz diploma at the National Conservatoire in Rennes. Michel’s recent news include the release of the DVD, “Live In Porquerolles”, with Martiniquais pianist, Mario Canonge, the CD “Massaliazz” containing his trademark arrangements of songs from his hometown. Also upcoming are the recordings of a live album with US pianist, Michael Wolff, Danish sax Simon Spang-Hansen quintet, French drummer Simon Goubert’s new quintet as well as Michel’s own new compositions and arrangements for his new band.
