Staff involved

I’d like to give a huge thank you to everyone involved in the production of the Second Grade Exhibition for 2010. Congratulations to all the Second Grade students who worked so pas-sionately and diligently preparing for this exhibition. The growth of your knowledge is obvious, while your actions and care for endangered ani-mals shows that you truly believe what you have learnt. Congratulations to Pablo de Francisco from 2C for designing a bold, col-ourful and meaningful logo for our exhibition. Well done to everyone who participated in the competition – there were so many excellent lo-gos that, as you know, voting for only one was very difficult! Thank you to all other grades in primary, for coming and supporting us

by watching and being an attentive audience.

Thank you very much to all the ‘behind-the-scenes’ people who organ-

ised the logistics of the production. With a special thanks to Paola who

created the forest-saving electronic programme, Jennie, who gave guid-

ance and oversaw the whole process, and all the staff of the WSCC, who

gave their time and technical knowledge.

To the thoughtful and willing parents who graciously gave their time and

skills in the two weeks leading up to the performance, I would like to give

a heartfelt thank you. It was a pleasure having you amongst the hustle

and bustle of preparations.

And finally, but not at all in the least, thank you a thousand times over

to the group directors, teacher assistants and specialist staff for pulling

together to share ideas, support one another and work at 110% to help

make this production happen. Without all of the attributes that you dis-

play, this exhibition would not have flown as it did.

Thank you, Miss Sarah

Welcome to the primary section’s first electronic

program!

We are very proud of the new electronic pro-

gram as we feel that it really embodies the spirit

of not only the unit the students are studying,

but also the Anglo’s commitment to reduce pa-

per consumption. This process started out with

the use of electronic circulars, which (we calcu-

lated) have already saved 120 trees over the

last 2 1/2 years. Not printing this 10 page pro-

gram alone has saved 1/5 of a tree!

The students have been committed during this

unit to reducing waste and we in the office feel

that we should not only support this endeavour,

but be leading the way with new innovations.

A special thanks to Paola Caicedo for the idea

and the program design.

Miss Jennie

Deputy Head

Why electronically and not in paper?

Paper comes from trees and the

trees are animals habitats, so if

we waste paper the habitat of

some animals can disappear and

animals would not have anywhere

to live and they will die. Also, we

will have nothing to breath with

if we cut all the trees.

I think using paper will change

the environment of the animals

because people cut trees to make

paper. If we cut trees, we are de-

stroying the habitat of the ani-

mals and our planet and are en-

dangering species because cut-

ting the trees ruins the habitat

of animals. If we use so much

paper all animals will be extinct

and without animals we are

without life. If we cut trees, ani-

mals can not survive and we

can’t see the beautiful animals.

If the electronic mail is used, ani-mals don’t get endan-gered. It is better to use electronic mail and if we don’t do it we are not going to have forests and all the natural places left.

It is good to use elec-tronic things because you don’t waste paper and people that cut trees can’t understand that people don’t want more endangered species. Some people don’t want a lot of city. They want forest, plants and a lot of GREEN!

Our Impact

2C found this quote very motivating and feels very strongly

about humanities responsibility to work harder to conserve the

planets resources and protect all species.

The “Lisa the Lima” song seemed like a simple and straight for-

ward way to present the problems being faced by most of the

Endangered animals on our earth, which is a loss of habitat.

“Only when the last tree has been cut down, and the last river has dried to a trickle and most species are extinct, will

man finally realise that we can’t eat money.”

Just like the class members of 2D, who are all unique and different in many aspects so are many

of our Endangered Species. An Adaptation is something that makes it possible for an animal to

live in a particular place or a particular way. It may be a physical adaptation, like the size or shape of

the animal’s body, or the way in which its body works. It may be the way the animal behaves. Each

adaptation has been produced by evolution. We hope you enjoy our show and learn something new
