SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE
Assist with building beds for kids without in Howard County or Baltimore. Deliver and assemble as needed.

SUMMER MISSION TRIPS
Week-long work trips to a variety of destinations for home repair, community building, and outreach. Open to adults and youth 6th grade and older.

THRIFT SHOP Now run by the Salvation Army
Open Tuesdays & Thursdays and the 2nd & 4th Saturday of each month. Glen Mar supports this work financially and by providing volunteers.

Mission Teams from Glen Mar working annually on projects in domestic and foreign locations. 2019 will see a trip to Haiti.

WISH UPON A STAR
Help purchase gifts, clothing and food for families with children who would otherwise struggle to afford Christmas presents. People are also needed to help organize and distribute gifts.

DAY OF SERVICEGlen Mar’s annual day-long service opportunity offered to the community on MLK Day in January. We need people willing to help plan, coordinate, and staff the event.

DAY RESOURCE CENTER Homeless Respite Care
Volunteers are needed to staff the Resource Center for two- or four-hour shifts. Greet guests, distribute food and clothing, and provide transportation. Help Glen Mar prepare and serve the meal once a month.

EXTREME FUNDRAISING
Raise money for mission ministries by donating box tops for education and old cell phones; by using an online browser; and by purchasing gift cards. Volunteer to help coordinate programs or simply staff the gift card sales table once a month.

FOOD COLLECTION
Glen Mar collects food for local agencies (Eva Johnson Foundation, Community Action Council) several times a year. Help is needed for coordination and food transportation. There is also an opportunity to help with the annual Glen Mar 5K in support of the Howard County Food Bank.

GRASSROOTS DONATIONS Food and supplies collection
Glen Mar collects food and supplies on an ongoing basis to meet the immediate needs of Grassroots’ Family Shelter and Day Resource Center. Help is needed with delivery of donations. There are also opportunities to help with the annual Glen Mar Golf Classic and Soup’r Sundae fundraisers in support of Grassroots.

GRASSROOTS MEALS Howard County’s Homeless Shelter
Prepare a specific dinner menu for residents on the 4th Tuesday of each month and deliver it to Grassroots.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Renovate homes for low-income, first-time homeowners. Glen Mar’s Habitat team works on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Leave the church at 8:30 a.m. and carpool to the worksite. Adults and youth age 16+ can participate.

HELP END HOMELESS, HOWARD COUNTY
Work with a multi-denominational group of churches to purchase a home for an individual or family in need. Work to provide skills and resources to residents.

MANNA HOUSE
Serve a hot breakfast to a homeless population in Baltimore. Glen Mar’s team works on the second Sunday of the month. Leave the church at 7:15 a.m. and carpool to the site. Adults and youth 13+ can participate.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Help gather supplies for shoebox Christmas gifts for children around the world. Pack boxes at Glen Mar and/or volunteer at the regional processing center.

PATH (People Acting Together in Howard Co.)An ecumenical outreach focusing on social justice issues in Howard County, including immigration, transportation, and schools.

AMES MEMORIAL UMC
Glen Mar’s sister church in downtown Baltimore. Help with ongoing ministries, including food and clothing donations. Financial and volunteer support is always needed.

BOARD OF CHILD CARE
The Baltimore-Washington Conference ministry for at-risk youth, which provides residential and group home services, foster care, and outpatient mental health treatment. Glen Mar partners with the Board of Child Care by providing donations and volunteers.

BRIDGES TO HOUSING STABILITY
Join “Bridges Believers,” a group that works together as liaisons between Bridges and Glen Mar; get involved with the annual “Hotter than Thou” Chili Cook-Off each March; or assist the Property Maintenance Corps in repairing and renovating housing units.

COLD WEATHER SHELTER
Grassroots overflow housing based at Glen Mar for one or two weeks each winter. Help prepare food, provide transportation, do laundry, set up and take down, clean, or provide evening and overnight supervision.

Helping children and youth in Baltimore reach their full potential. Become a tutor or a mentor, or bring a youth to work. Help a student navigate a campus, career application, interview, or the financial aid process.
