Mitel NuPoint Unified Messaging (UM)

Q. Can you discuss what new features were added with NuPoint UM 3.0?A. NuPoint UM release 3.0 focused on delivering best-of-breed messaging across the entire

Mitel® Communications Platform portfolio. New features / functionality include:

• NuPoint UM is now available for the 5000 CP as part of Mitel Applications Suite

• Speech Auto Attendant

i. Microsoft OCS 2007 Presence integration

ii. IBM Sametime Presence integration

iii. UK prompt and grammar support

• Advanced UM support for Microsoft Exchange 2007

• Standard UM with MWI support for Lotus Notes and Groupwise

• Outbound Fax Support

• NuPoint UM 640 single-server 640 and full 640 on the Sun Fire X4150

i. Entry level server (Sun Fire X4150) with fully redundant hardware

ii. Support for NAS integration within the Data-centre

Q. Has the name changed from NuPoint Messenger IP to NuPoint Unified Messaging release 3.0?

A. Yes, NuPoint Messenger IP was rebranded to NuPoint Unified Messaging as of the releaseearlier this winter. The rebranding to Unified Messaging more accurately reflects therequirements of the markets we serve today, where IP has become much moremainstream, and is a table stakes requirement. The release numbering was reset to 3.0 to reflect that this is the third release of the product to support unified messaging.

Q. Will NuPoint UM Standard Edition be phased out completely and if so what is the timeline?A. It is expected the NuPoint UM on MAS will accommodate more and more customer

requirements as it increases in scale, limiting the market space for NuPoint UM StandardEdition. We will continue to evaluate the positioning of NuPoint UM Standard Editionbased on market demand. Today, NuPoint UM Standard Edition is still required to supportthird-party PBXs and as such still an important part of our product portfolio.

Q. Is there an individual mailbox license on NuPoint UM for each mailbox used?A. NuPoint on MAS is licensed by the individual mailbox. NuPoint Standard Edition and

640 license basic voicemail capacity by the port, not by the user. However, all otheroptional features, for example advanced unified messaging are licensed per user for both MAS and stand alone NuPoint UM.

Q. Can you upgrade NuPoint 7.0 to MAS with free mailboxes?A. Not currently, but we are reevaluating available migration programs. Watch for program

announcements that will provide incentives for customers to migrate from legacy NuPoint systems to NuPoint UM.

Q. Current 5000 bundles, bundle in Enterprise Messaging. Are there plans to include NuPoint UM in any of these bundles?

A. This is currently under review. Expect announcements on this within the next 1 – 2 months.

Q. Will fully synchronized Unified Messaging will be available for Lotus Notes moving forward?A. NuPoint UM release 4.0, which will be released in late calendar 2009, will provided fully

synchronized advanced Unified Messaging. Standard UM will still be available, and is attractive to customers looking for a single consolidate message inbox via a lowcomplexity email integration. Standard UM provides 60 to 70% of the benefits of unified messaging without the complexity of managing a MAPI interface into Notes,which is required for Advanced UM.

Q. When will Spanish Speech Auto Attendant and Text to Speech be available for NuPoint UM?A. This is currently a candidate deliverable for NuPoint UM Release 5.0.

Q. Are there any plans in the future to add IP integration to the 200 ICP? This would help the hospitality price point.

A. There are currently no plans for this.

Q. If a customer has multiple 3300’s deployed will any of these messaging solutions supportall of the sites or does each site require a messaging solution?

A. NuPoint can address up to four 3300s simultaneously, and the voicemail can becentralized. With NuPoint you can actually support up to the maximum number ofclustered 3300s with one centralized voicemail solution.

Q. Is there any integration with NuPoint UM to Axxess?A. This is planned to be supported in a future release of MAS.

Q. Can NuPoint UM integrate to multiple systems on one server? Like a 3300 and an Sx200on one NuPoint? Or a 3300 and Cisco call manager on one NuPoint?

A. Yes, for the complete list of integrations check the Mitel knowledge base.

Q. If we put NuPoint UM on a 5000 CP and the 5000 CP is networked to an Axxess, willNuPoint UM serve as a centralized voicemail system for both the 5000 CP and Axxess?

A. This configuration is not currently supported but is being tested with MAS 2.0.

Q. Has the number of messages per mailbox been increased from 73 to unlimited yet?A. This will limit will be increased with NuPoint UM release 4.0, scheduled for release

in late calendar 2009.

Q. When will PDF be available for faxing?A. This is available now for outbound faxing, and PDF support for inbound faxing

is a candidate feature for NuPoint UM release 5.0.

Q. Can outbound faxes be sent as a print driver selection in Microsoft Office applications?A. Yes, you can either install Mitel’s fax print driver, or use Mitel’s web interface.

Q. Any inbound fax support on the horizon?A. Inbound fax support has been available on NuPoint UM since release 10.0?

Q. Are there plans for strengthening PIN number / password policies with forced change?A. Yes, forced password changes will be introduced with release 4.0 in late calendar 2009.

Q. Will there ever be an auto-forward option for mailboxes?A. NuPoint supports a number of mailbox forwarding options such as forward to email,

forward to another mailbox, forward to another system. Please refer to the NuPoint UMGeneral Information Guide.

Q. When will Day / Night Greetings be available on Speech Auto Attendant?A. We are currently evaluating enhancements to Speech Auto Attendant as part of release 5.0.

We believe an interworking between Call Director and Speech Auto Attendant is the best solution.

Mitel NuPoint Unified Messaging on Mitel Applications Suite(MAS)

Q. Is MAS available on APC? A. Yes. 3300 MXe with APC supports up to 150 users (150 voice mailboxes), plus

other applications.

Q. When you use an APC card on the MXe you lose the redundant hard drive. Is there a planto work around that?

A. There are currently no plans in place to address this.

Q. Why aren’t hospitality features included in MAS?A. As a comprehensive applications suite, MAS is not targeting the Hospitality market

segment, therefore this aspect of Nupoint has been excluded.

Q. Is MAS available for the HP® blade server?A. No, we support the MSL supported hardware, which is listed in the Mitel Knowledge Base.

Q. How many voicemail ports are available in the MAS Base Software package?A. Licensing for NuPoint UM on MAS is by voice mailbox. Port allocation is an engineering

exercise. Therefore, all 32 NuPoint voice mail ports are made available with MAS Full, MAS Msg and Conference, and the newer MAS Base SW for 3300.

Q. When migrating from embedded messaging to NuPoint UM on MAS, does it migrate portfor port, ie: 30 port EMEM to 30 port NP?

A. Both EMEM and NuPoint on MAS are licensed by the mailbox not by the port. Refer toquestion 25 for number of ports included in NP UM on MAS.

Q. How many voicemail boxes migrate with an upgrade to MAS 1.2?A. For migrations from earlier versions of MAS to MAS 1.2, 20 voice mailboxes are granted

for every 1 port of voicemail.

Q. How large / robust is MAS expected grow in the future?A. For MAS 2.0, the overall limit of 1000 users with all applications deployed will remain.

However, we are looking to adjust some of the application ratios (eg. increase AdvancedUM) as well as looking at a higher limit if NuPoint on MAS is the ONLY applicationdeployed. These limits are under review and will be announced in the next few months as we get closer to the GA date for MAS 2.0.

Q. What hardware is required for MAS that is not included?A. The actual server that MAS runs on is NOT included, as well as any incremental hardware

on the 3300 or 5000 that the MAS server connects to.

Q. Will MAS support migration of legacy voicemail, database and greetings in the future?A. MAS 2.0 will support migration of EMEM configuration settings. Enterprise Messaging

migrations will be covered in a subsequent MAS release.

Q. If you have 4 networked sites using Embedded voicemail can you migrate all mailboxlicenses over to a single MAS?

A. Yes.

Q. Are the rest of the MAS applications now supported on the Mitel 5000, such as UnifiedCommunicator Mobile?

A. No, currently MAS 1.2 for the 5000 currently supports NuPoint UM in addition to Audioand Web Conferencing. Additional applications will be added in the future.

Mitel 3300 ICP Embedded Messaging

Q. Does the focus on NuPoint UM mean that Embedded Messaging is going away?A. No, Embedded Messaging will continue to be available on the Mitel 3300 ICP and

5000 CP platforms. There are no plans to discontinue these products.

Q. Will embedded voicemail continue to be enhanced?A. We will continue to enhance embedded voicemail with features that make sense in the

embedded context. We encourage you to consider the EMEM to MAS migration programfor any customers with advanced messaging requirements.

Q. Can I keep EMEM RAD ports when I use the EMEM to MAS migration program?A. Yes, you can keep EMEM RAD ports in service as long as you don’t migrate those mailboxes.

Mitel Enterprise Messaging

Q. What is happening to Enterprise Messaging?A. For the time being, Enterprise Messaging will continue to be available for the 5000 CP.

No decision has been made to discontinue this product, at this time.

Q. Are their any issues with Microsoft Exchange that we need to be aware of if we want to migrate an EM customer?

A. You need to be aware that you may require a MAPI gateway on NuPoint UM for somelevels of capacity and functionality. Please refer to the NuPoint UM Engineering Guidelines.

Q. What are the benefits of NuPoint UM over Enterprise Messaging?A. There are several key benefits, including:

• NuPoint is a mature, full featured messaging application, with the broadest range of voicemail features that come from the strong history of Centigram

• NuPoint delivers strong hospitality vertical support with full Property ManagementSystem integration

• NuPoint delivers a full set of Unified Messaging options

• NuPoint delivers Mitel and third party switch Integrations for heterogeneous network support

• NuPoint provides sophisticated call management capabilities to control how and whenyou are reached with Call Director

• NuPoint offers speech and presence enabled Auto Attendant with directory integrationoptions such as Active Directory and LDAP

• NuPoint supports a large number of languages in addition to Octel User Interface emulation.

Mitel Messaging Server

Q. When will there be a migration program available to migrate customers from Messaging Server to NuPoint UM?

A. A program to migrate Messaging Server (ESNA Telephony Office Linx) customers to NuPoint UM on MAS will be announced in the coming months.

Q. What about customers with Software Assurance on Messaging Server, how will they be handled?

A. North American installed base customers with valid warranty or software assurance willreceive the latest release of Esna Telephony Office Linx from Datanet CommSource at noadditional charge.

Resellers outside North America will have their customer sites supported until such a timeas the initial warranty period expires, and will be able to extend the warranty period bypurchasing software assurance directly from Esnatech for their customer sites.

Q. What are the benefits of NuPoint UM over Messaging Server?A. There are several key benefits of NuPoint UM on MAS over Messaging Server. These include:

• Co-residency of multiple applications on one server

• Fully featured audio and web collaboration

• Unified Communicator and Teleworking

• Customer Service Manager (MAS release 2.0)
