A Fridge Funny Some guy bought a new fridge for his house. To get rid of his old fridge, heput it in his front yard and hung a sign on it saying "Free to good home, You want it - youtake it." City to championcommunity theatre

Last night, City council voted to applyunder the Special Circumstances categoryof the Rural Dividend Fund in theamount of $3.2 million dollars for the con-struction of the community theatre, andpartner with the NV Community TheatreSociety on the application.

With the closing of Tolko Nicola Val-ley and the loss of more than 200 jobs, the‘special circumstances’ resonates all themore for the community. And at lastmonth’s UBCM, City Councillors heardfrom various Ministry staff that any ap-plication they made would be considered‘top of the pile’.

It will be a joint application with theCity being the lead applicant, and thetheatre society preparing the application.The City’s support is non-financial.

Reward offered incase of animal cruelty

Angel's Animal Rescue is offeringa reward for information about the hang-ing death of a dog on the Coldwater Re-serve. The notice was posted on theirfacebook page on Nov. 18: “We are offer-ing a substantial reward for informationleading to the apprehension of theman/men or woman/women that com-mitted the cruel act of wrapping a dog’smuzzle with barbed wire and hanging it.This animal was found dead at the Cold-water Reserve. Please contact Angel'sAnimal Rescue or Merritt RCMP to re-port any information you may have in re-gards to this incident. If you haveinformation pertaining to other animalcruelty acts please call Angel's AnimalRescue, the RCMP or the SPCA. Be brave,don't turn a blind eye to what you knowis wrong. To protect you, your informa-tion can remain completely private.”

Police have confirmed that the inci-dent took place on Nov. 1. "We've identi-fied the dog's owner and we also havesome suspects that we're investigating atthis time," said Const.Tracy Dunsmore.
