This guide was created to give you an idea of the electronic resources that are available at Universiti TunkuAbdul Rahman (UTAR).
1.0 The Basic
1.1 UTAR Network ID
UTAR Network ID is your key to UTARs technology services including Computer Labs, Student Portal,
WBLE, Email and more. You are given your username and default password upon admission to theuniversity.
Your User name:Student Identification Number (Without alphabetical)
Your Default Password:New Identification Card Number (NRIC no. with hyphen)
Log on to: UTARICT (Default)
Example: 07UBB00200
Username: 0700200
Password: 760911-01-2200 (with hyphen)
Log on to:UTARICT
It is very important that passwords remain confidential, as you are responsible for the operation of theaccount.

Once you have successfully logged onto UTAR network computing, you will see the screen below .Your Student Identification Number, Full Name, Login Time, Current Time as well as your
Internet Access Hours Balance will be displayed on top of the screen.
NOTE
You should logout when you are finished with your task. If you have forgotten logout, your UTAR
Network ID will be automatically locked by the system. Once your UTAR Network ID is locked,you will not be able to access any networked computer at the university.
The only way to "Unlock" a locked UTAR Network ID is to contact our local computing helpdesks at your faculty.

1.2 UTAR Portal
To login to Student Portal, follow these steps:
Step 1 Go to http://www.utar.edu.my and then click on the UTAR Portal link next to theSearch bar.
Step 2 Enter your username (Student Identification Number)
Step 3 Enter your password (New Identification Card Number with Hyphen)
Step 4 Click Login to access StudentPortal.
NOTE
If you have forgotten your password, you must visit your local computing help desk in person to
have it reset by presenting your Student ID Card.

Once you have accepted the Terms of Usage of the Information Communication and TechnologyCentre (ICTC), you will be asked to verify your personal information that is currently held in
Universitys database. You only need to enter this information once ; thereafter it will be used for theUniversity official matters and documents including your examination results, transcript and UniversityCertificate.
NOTE
Please note that you will not be able to update your personal information once you havesubmitted this online verification form. Thus, you should contact Department of Admissions
and Credit Evaluation(DACE) for amendments.

Services provided on the Student Portal
When you login to the Student Portal, you will see six (6) tabs across the top of the page.
Tab Name Description
1. Home New services to students including announcement, convocation,
USSDC Programm es, Student Code of Conduct, VerificationExercise, UTAR Survey etc.
2. My Course Information to support students in managing their programme of
study. Includes details about academic calendar, academic honours,course syllabus, examination as well as timetable.
3. My Co-Curriculum Information and news from your society including regulations onsocieties and student activities and society committee member list
information.
4. My Account A space for student to view their personal profile, change theirpassword, register for WAP services and link to email account.
5. My Info Gateway Provides a gateway to other web-based services such as Web-Based
Learning Environment (WBLE), UTAR Library OPAC, e-newspaperslinks etc.
6. My Billing To enables students to view and print student bills as well as makes
electronic payment via Public Bank's Internet Banking Service .
7. Log Out To clear your browsers session and log out from Student Portal.

d. Student Code of Conduct
The Student Code of Conduct is applicable to all students, undergraduate and graduate atUniversiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. The purpose of the Student Code of Conduct is to provide
guidelines for appropriate student behaviour essential to the UTAR community and its educationalmission.
e. Verification Exercise
To view previously submitted personal information, click on Verification Exercise . You will not
be able to change any previous information for your personal profile that has already beensubmitted. In case of an error in your personal profile, please contact Department of
Admissions and Evaluation (DACE) for amendments.

3.0 New Student Checklist
1. Take your photo for Student Identification card at the designated photo booth during orientation week.
2. Log onto the UTAR computing network for the first time with your username and default password.
3. Go to UTAR Portal at https://portal.utar.edu.my/loginPage.jsp with your username and default
password.
4. Familiarise yourself with the services in the student portal.
5. Change your password.
6. Activate your email account.
7. Set your WAP for enquiry of the supplementary exam candidate and main exam result.
8. Check the notice board whether your Student Identification card is ready to collect.
9. Get you student ID at your respective faculty after new student orientat ion.
